We're underway at Stamford Bridge.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea's 100% record in the Premier League was ended last time out in their goalless draw against West Ham. Maurizio Sarri has enjoyed a strong start to his managerial career with the Blues, although their mettle as title contenders will be tested today by the Reds, who have been outstanding at the start of the campaign.
Liverpool are the only team to have won all six of their matches in the Premier League. Manchester City's win over Brighton & Hove Albion has knocked them off the top of the table for now, but a victory over the Blues will see their position restored. Jurgen Klopp will be looking for a response from his players after they allowed their lead to slip late on against Sarri's men during the week.
CHELSEA (4-3-3): Kepa Arrizabalaga; Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso; Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante, Jorginho; Willian, Olivier Giroud, Eden Hazard.
Chelsea subs: Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Willy Caballero, Victor Moses, Davide Zappacosta, Gary Cahill, Alvaro Morata.
LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson; Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.
Liverpool subs: Fabinho, Naby Keita, Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno, Simon Mignolet, Xherdan Shaqiri, Joel Matip.
Liverpool are in the same position as Chelsea as nine players come into the team, with only Milner and Mane remaining. Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Gomez, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Salah and Firmino all start.
The two teams meet for the second time in a week as Chelsea claimed victory in their contest in the EFL Cup as goals from Emerson Palmieri and Eden Hazard secured a comeback win at Anfield.
Eden Hazard's strike has handed Chelsea a narrow half-time lead over Liverpool in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian finished a well worked move from the home side, placing his shot across Alisson into the bottom corner. Liverpool have had their moments and should be level at the interval. However, Mohamed Salah has not had his shooting boots on, seeing one effort cleared off the line, while he has fired wide on two other occasions.
Although Chelsea have the lead they still look a tad vulnerable at the back to Liverpool's pace. The Blues have been clinical with their passing in the final third and will be looking to break into the visitors' half with greater frequency than the first period. Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed with his side's lack of prowess in the final third. All three of their leading men have had chances, but have failed to capitalise. A slight improvement could see the Reds take control in the second half.
Only Azpilicueta, Kovacic and Willian retain their places from the EFL Cup win over the Reds during the week. Kepa, David Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso, Kante, Jorginho, Giroud and Hazard all come into the fold at Stamford Bridge this evening.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Both teams remain unbeaten in the Premier League, although Liverpool's 100% record to start the campaign ends at Stamford Bridge. Daniel Sturridge's stunner cancelled out Eden Hazard's strike in the first half for Chelsea. It was a fair reflection of the game as both sides had ample opportunities in front of goal. Alisson was on point to make a couple of sharp stops, while Kepa Arrizabalaga was also on form and there were two efforts cleared off the line. On the basis of this game, the two teams will be battling it out come the end of the season for the Premier League title.
