Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of the Premier League game between Leicester City and Aston Villa!
Leicester are in action for the first time since parting ways with manager Brendan Rodgers, and are in desperate need of a win as they look to escape the relegation zone. They come up against an in-form Villa side that haven’t lost in their last five Premier League outings. However, three points for the Foxes would lift them to a much healthier-looking 14th place in the table, while Unai Emery’s side continue their quest for European football, and could climb as high as sixth with a victory at King Power Stadium.
LEICESTER SUBS: Danny Ward, Daniel Amartey, Ricardo Pereira, Luke Thomas, Dennis Praet, Boubakary Soumare, Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka, Tete
LEICESTER (4-2-3-1): Daniel Iversen; Timothy Castagne, Harry Souttar, Wout Faes, Victor Kristiansen; Nampalys Mendy, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall; Wilfred Ndidi, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes; Jamie Vardy
ASTON VILLA SUBS: Robin Olsen, Viljami Sinisalo, Diego Carlos, Calum Chambers, Lucas Digne, Sebastian Revan, Leander Dendoncker, Bertrand Traore, Jhon Duran
ASTON VILLA (4-4-2): Emiliano Martinez; Ashley Young, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings, Alex Moreno; John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Emiliano Buendia, Jacob Ramsey; Leon Bailey, Ollie Watkins
Adam Sadler has made two changes to his first line-up in temporary charge. He brings Vardy back into the side for his first league start since January, while Mendy is also handed a start. Tete and Daka drop to the bench.
The warm-ups are complete and the players have emerged from the tunnel ready for kick-off.
Both teams can win from here - it’s a matter of who wants it more. Leicester are in desperate need of what would be a precious three points in their fight for survival, and although Villa have been hard to beat in recent times under Emery, the Foxes did find a way to get the better of their opponents back in February at Villa Park. An intriguing 45 minutes ahead!
That's all for today, goodbye!
A brilliant win for Villa, but a concerning defeat for Leicester. They remain 19th, two points from safety, and play fellow strugglers Bournemouth at home in their next game which is now a must-win as they seek a first victory in eight games. Emery's side edge closer to European football next season as they climb to seventh in the table, overtaking Brentford and Liverpool in the process. They have played a game or two more than those around them, but they're in great form and the momentum is certainly with the Villans.
