It looks as though the referee is going to bring the game to a close without adding on any additional time.
88'
Schalke are continuing to string together plenty of passes, but there is no end product whatsoever. There are two minutes to go here.
87'
M. Schmelzer enters the game and replaces Raphaël Guerreiro.
T. Becker enters the game and replaces J. Kenny.
M. Götze enters the game and replaces Mahmoud Dahoud.
Gotze is brought on in place of Dahoud for the final few minutes of this one-sided affair.
Kenny makes way for Becker in what will likely be Schalke's final substitution of the match.
Favre turns to Schmelzer late on. Two-goal Guerreiro, who has been a major threat all game, is the player to make way.
86'
R. Matondo gets yellow.
Matondo shows some good footwork to take the ball past a couple of players. The Wales international delays the shot for a little too long, though, and he slides in on Hakimi after losing control of the ball to earn a yellow card.
85'
The tempo of the play is at walking pace now. Dortmund's third goal right at the start of the second half as good as killed off Schalke, who have been disappointing on their return to action.
83'
Hakimi does very well to bring down a long pass on the right. Not only that, he looks up and nearly picks out Haaland in the middle, but the pass has a tad too much on it.
81'
The hosts are allowing their rivals to knock the ball around, perhaps knowing that Schalke are not getting anywhere fast. Brandt plays a bit of a hospital pass through his own box, but the winger - one of the stars of the show today - gets away with it.
79'
J. Sancho enters the game and replaces T. Hazard.
Sancho is brought on for Hazard, who limps off the field after picking up a knock. That is a worrying sign for Dortmund boss Favre on what has otherwise been a very positive first day back at the office.
76'
Juan Miranda enters the game and replaces D. Caligiuri.
There will be no derby magic for Caligiuri today. He is replaced by Miranda with around 15 minutes to play at Signal Iduna Park.
Minute
Description
75'
Schopf is on and Serdar off in the latest of Schalke's second-half changes.
74'
A. Schöpf enters the game and replaces S. Serdar.
OVER! Sane attacks Kenny's corner but heads over from the edge of the six-yard box. Team-mate Nastasic may well have got in his way.
73'
Ł. Piszczek gets yellow.
Dortmund skipper Piszczek loses his footing and handles the ball when attempting to cut out a pass. The referee reaches into his pocket for the third time today.
71'
Schalke are lacking any sort of cohesion in the final third. Dortmund, by comparison, are able to execute the final pass and clinically finish off their attacks. Favre will be delighted with this display.
69'
Dahoud gives away a free-kick in a dangerous position. The delivery into the box is not bad, but Dortmund just about deal with the danger thanks to a good defensive header from Balerdi.
68'
L. Balerdi enters the game and replaces T. Delaney.
67'
Favre turns to his bench for the first time today by bringing on young defender Balerdi for the vastly more experienced Delaney.
65'
It has been plain sailing for Dortmund on their return to action. They are now up to 61-per-cent possession for the contest, managing 11 shots in total - four of those on target, four of those resulting in a goal. Talk about clinical!
63'
Raphaël Guerreiro has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by E. Haaland.
GOOOAAAAAALLLL!!!! DORTMUND 4-0 SCHALKE!!! This is a brilliant fourth goal for Dortmund, who have hit the ground running on their return to Bundesliga action. Brandt spreads the ball to Guerreiro and the wing-back exchanges passes with Haaland. With just Schubert to beat, he uses the outside of his left boot to scoop the ball past the visiting goalkeeper.
Haaland is not just an out-and-out goalscorer, you know? The prolific striker played a nice one-two with Guerreiro on the edge of the opposition box, but this goal was all about the quality of the wing-back's finish.
61'
Dortmund are pretty much in complete control of this game. Schalke are enjoying the odd spell on the ball, but they are not getting far - Burgstaller's shot from range aside.
59'
Dortmund's subs have been sent to warm-up. Favre has the luxury of being able to change things around should he wish, though he will likely want to use the remaining half an hour as an opportunity to get many of his key men back to full fitness.
55'
SHOT! Burgstaller has made a positive impression since coming on at half-time, even if his side have fallen a further goal behind. He goes back on himself to get a shot away with his left foot, but Burki is once again equal to the long-range effort.
53'
T. Delaney gets yellow.
Delaney and Serdar battle for an aerial ball. The Dortmund man is penalised for leading with his elbow, becoming the second player to enter the referee's book.
49'
Sane is shown a yellow card for clattering into Haaland in an attempt to halt the Dortmund counter.
48'
S. Sané gets yellow.
T. Hazard has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by J. Brandt.
GOOOOAAAALLLL!!!!! DORTMUND 3-0 SCHALKE!!! That should do it! Schalke have started the second half well but they are caught out on the counter. The ball is played forward quickly and Hazard thumps a shot past Schubert from 19 yards after being teed up by Brandt. Once again, the visiting keeper should have been doing a lot better.
Haaland did well to poke the ball through to Brandt before being clattered by Sane. Brandt took over by feeding it to Hazard to do the rest from just outside the box.
47'
SAVE! This is a lot better from Schalke. Following some promising build-up play, Serdar gets away a half-decent shot that is too central to beat Burki.
46'
G. Burgstaller enters the game and replaces J. Todibo.
R. Matondo enters the game and replaces B. Raman.
RESTART! Schalke get the Revierderby back underway. Will the double change made by Wagner at the interval make any difference?
45' +2
HALF-TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 2-0 SCHALKE
45'
Raphaël Guerreiro has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by J. Brandt.
GOOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!! DORTMUND 2-0 SCHALKE!!! Schubert is put under pressure and Dortmund capitalise on his weak clearance. Within about four seconds the ball is played into the path of Brandt, and he in turn feeds Guerreiro to clinically fire across a red faced Schubert into the far corner.
Brandt did well to look up and spot the run of full-back Guerreiro down to his left. But in many ways Schalke keeper Schubert deserves the assist for his poor clearance straight to Dahoud.
Wales international Matondo is brought on for Raman as part of a double change ahead of the second half.
Burgstaller is on for Todibo in the second of Schalke's substitutions. It looks as though Wagner has changed system for the start of the second period.
43'
It has been a welcome first-half return to action fort Dortmund, largely because Schalke have not really been able to get at their opponents. Harit tumbles on the edge of the box under slight contact from Hakimi, but the referee tells him to get up.
41'
NEARLY! Dortmund's latest corner is cleared to the edge of the box, where Dahoud is waiting to pounce on the loose ball. His powerful shot is heading for goal, but Sane gets his head between the ball and the goal to prevent his side from falling two goals behind.
39'
Schalke have not really got going in this first half. The visitors look to counter but the final pass is lacking and Dortmund get forward quickly. Hakimi has options to his left but elects to go it alone and the shot is blocked.
37'
Only Haaland has managed more shots than Hakimi - a wing-back by trade, remember - in the first half, and the Real Madrid loanee has also played one key pass. Schalke have been unable to contain him down their left.
35'
OVER! Hakimi has undoubtedly been Dortmund's liveliest player so far. He drives down the right, getting away from Todibo as though he is not there, but Guerreiro is unable to keep his shot on target when picked out.
33'
Hazard has started this game in an impressive manner. He wins another free-kick for his side, this time from Todibo, but BVB are unable to really make the most of it.
31'
That goal should do Dortmund the world of good. It came from their first shot on target of the contest, a couple of minutes after Caligiuri came close to scoring at the other end of the field.
29'
E. Haaland has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by T. Hazard.
The finish from Haaland was impressive and the cross from Hazard was not bad, either. Brandt also deserves a mention for the delightful flick to play Hazard in down the right.
GOOOOAAAALLLL!!!!! DORTMUND 1-0 SCHALKE!!! Brandt flicks the ball into the path of Hazard and the forward - a late addition to the starting line-up - sends a cross into the middle. Haaland, as he so often does, makes the finish look easy as he opens up his body and guides the ball away from Schubert.
26'
SHOT! This is pretty much the first sight of goal Haaland has had. Brandt swings in a cross from the right, Hummels misses it and Haaland slices his shot into the side-netting from the back post. Prior to that, the Dortmund striker squared up to Todibo ahead of a corner. Social distancing, lads!
24'
Hazard plays the ball through the legs of Serdar and wins a free-kick from the Schalke midfielder. Hakimi takes on the set-piece from 25 yards but can only pick out Nastasic in the wall.
22'
Dortmund have had 63 per cent of the ball, without yet managing a shot on target. Again, that is understandable given the fact it has been more than two months since they were last in action.
19'
Hazard initially does well to skip a challenge and carry the ball towards the box, only to misplace his pass in the direction of Hakimi. The hosts are having more joy down the right than the left so far.
17'
BLOCK! Guerreiro, on his weaker right foot, gets an angled shot away but it is blocked behind by Sane for a corner. Dortmund are definitely starting to step things up now following a fairly quiet start.
15'
Hakimi is played into plenty of space down the right and squares the ball into the six-yard box. Credit to Schalke defender Todibo, though, as he slides in to cut out the cross and one of his team-mates clears.
13'
Dortmund have a chance to swing in a free-kick from a wide area, but the flag goes up for offside. There is a brief pause for the referee to check in with the video assistant referee because of Kenny's possible handball infringement.
11'
This match almost has a pre-season feel to it at the moment. Dortmund are 14 points better off than their bitter rivals, but you cannot really tell that on the basis of the opening 11 minutes.
9'
Hazard, a late addition to Dortmund's starting line-up, holds off his man and decides to have a go from a long way out but can only pick out the empty stands.
7'
There is an eerie feel to this game, but that was to be expected considering it is being played at an empty ground. Dahoud concedes a free-kick around 25 yards from goal, only for Caligiuri to pick out the wall with his effort.
5'
Picking up from where he left off prior to the two-month break, BVB striker Haaland exchanges passes and drives into the box, but Schubert pounces on the ball.
3'
Harit drives through the lines and plays the ball to McKennie, but the American midfielder loses possession on the edge of the Dortmund box.
2'
Reyna has been denied a full Bundesliga debut by that untimely injury in the warm-up, then, but Dortmund do at least have plenty of cover in the attacking areas. Both sides are taking it in turns to knock the ball around in the early stages.
1'
KICK-OFF! Dortmund get us up and running at a pretty much completely empty Signal Iduna Park. There has been a late change to the home side's startling line-up, with Hazard replacing Reyna, who picked up an injury in the warm-up.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Bundesliga clash between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke at Signal Iduna Park.
Some 61 days on from the last match, owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, top-flight football is back in Germany and this is arguably the standout fixture on the returning weekend of action. The eyes of the world will be on this unique Revierderby showdown, which is widely considered to be the biggest local derby in the country but will today be contested behind closed doors.
Dortmund won four league games in a row and seven of their last eight prior to the coronavirus-enforced shutdown, yet they still trail leaders Bayern Munich by four points with nine games to play. Lucien Favre's men were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain in their most recent outing, meaning that all focus is now on winning a first title since 2012.
Schalke are sixth in the table ahead of today's restart, 10 points off Bayer Leverkusen in fifth and a further two points behind fourth-place Borussia Monchengladbach. David Wagner's men are winless in seven league games, most recently playing out a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim on March 7.
Subs: Jadon Sancho, Tobias Raschl, Marcel Schmelzer, Leonardo Balerdi, Marwin Hitz, Chris Fuhrich, Mario Gotze, Mateu Morey, Thorgan Hazard.
DORTMUND XI (3-4-2-1): Roman Burki; Lukasz Piszczek (c), Mats Hummels, Manuel Akanji; Achraf Hakimi, Mahmoud Dahoud, Thomas Delaney, Raphael Guerreiro; Julian Brandt, Giovanni Reyna; Erling Haaland.
Subs: Alessandro Schopf, Guido Burgstaller, Alexander Nubel, Levent Mercan, Timo Becker, Michael Gregoritsch, Juan Miranda, Ahmed Kutucu, Rabbi Matondo.
SCHALKE XI (3-4-2-1): Markus Schubert; Jean-Clair Todibo, Salif Sane, Matija Nastasic; Jonjoe Kenny, Suat Serdar, Weston McKennie, Bastian Oczipka; Daniel Caligiuri (c), Amine Harit; Benito Raman.
The teams are coming out onto the pitch at Signal Iduna Park, with kick-off just moments away.
The hosts scored from both attempts on target, whereas Caligiuri was denied by Burki from Schalke's only real opportunity of the first half. Both teams can make five changes each in the second half, which visiting boss Wagner may well make the most of by turning to his bench at the interval. Matondo and Burgstaller are attacking options, while BVB have the likes of Gotze and Sancho among their subs.
That's all for today's live coverage. Thanks for joining!
Dortmund, who remain in second place, are now just a point behind Bayern Munich ahead of the champions' game in hand against Union Berlin on Sunday. Schalke, winless in eight league matches, drop down to eighth.
