Hello and welcome to live match coverage of the Premier League fixture between Burnley and Aston Villa at Turf Moor.
Burnley come into this match looking to bounce back after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United last time out. Aston Villa, meanwhile, will also be seeking a return to winning ways following their 3-0 loss against Watford in their previous league game.
BURNLEY (4-4-2): Nick Pope; Phil Bardsley, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Dwight McNeil, Ashely Westwood, Jack Cork, Robbie Brady; Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes.
ASTON VILLA (5-4-1): Tom Heaton; Frederic Guilbert, Ezri Konsa Ngoyo, Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause, Neil Taylor; Trezeguet, Douglas Luiz, Marvelous Nakamba, Jack Grealish; Wesley.
BURNLEY SUBS: Joe Hart, Matthew Lowton, Kevin Long, Daniel Drinkwater, Jeff Hendrick, Johann Gudmundsson, Jay Rodriguez.
ASTON VILLA SUBS: Orjan Nyland, Ahmed Elmohamady, James Chester, Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane, Anwar El Ghazi, Jonathan Kodjia.
The hosts come into this clash having won four of their previous 12 Premier League matches, keeping four clean sheets in that time. Sean Dyche’s team currently find themselves 13th in the table, but a win could see them move into the top half. Aston Villa, on the other hand, have failed to win in any of their last six away matches. Victory today, however, will see Dean Smith’s 18th-placed side move out of the relegation zone and ahead of West Ham, albeit with the Hammers having two games in hand.
The teams are out, and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Turf Moor.
Burnley will be disappointed with their first-half performance and will look to improve after the restart. The hosts have failed to adapt to Villa’s shape and have, thus far, offered very little from an attacking standpoint. McNeil has looked the brightest and he will be vital if Dyche’s team are to get something from this match. Villa, meanwhile, will seek to continue in much the same fashion in the second half. They have looked dangerous on the break for much of the game while also limiting Burnley to very few clear-cut chances.
Prior to their upcoming league match against Chelsea, Dyche’s team host Peterborough in the FA Cup third round. Aston Villa, meanwhile, travel to face Fulham in the FA Cup next time out, before returning to Premier League action against Manchester City following the first leg of their semi-final clash with Leicester City in the EFL Cup.
That brings an end to our coverage of the Premier League fixture between Burnley and Aston Villa at Turf Moor. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
