Hello and welcome to live match coverage of the Champions League fixture in Group E between Liverpool and Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield.
The home side come into this fixture looking to bounce back having lost their last Champions League match 2-0 against Napoli. Jesse Marsch’s Salzburg, on the other hand, will be seeking to build on their impressive 6-2 victory over Genk last time out in Europe.
LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Adrian; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum; Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino.
RED BULL SALZBURG (4-4-2): Cican Stankovic; Rasmus Kristensen, Jerome Onguene, Maximilian Wober, Andreas Ulmer; Takumi Minamino, Enock Mwepu, Zlatko Junuzovic, Dominik Szoboszlai; Patson Daka, Hwang Hee-Chan.
LIVERPOOL SUBS: Caoimhin Kelleher, Dejan Lovren, James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana, Divock Origi.
RED BULL SALZBURG SUBS: Philipp Kohn, Patrick Farkas, Majeed Ashimeru, Andre Ramalho, Masaya Okugawa, Sekou Keita, Erling Haaland.
The hosts have enjoyed a strong start to the campaign having lost only once in all competitions, which came against Napoli in their opening match in Group E. Jurgen Klopp’s side are however yet to keep a clean sheet at home this season, but will hope to nullify Salzburg’s attacking threat as they look to extend their run to 23 matches without defeat in Europe at Anfield. Salzburg, meanwhile, are yet to suffer a single defeat in any competition thus far. The away side will need to end a winless run of four matches against English sides if they are to enjoy back-to-back wins in the Champions League.
The teams are out, and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Anfield.
Liverpool will be pleased with their first-half display and will look to continue in much the same fashion after the break. Mane and Salah have repeatedly caused the away side problems, and both will be crucial if Liverpool are to secure the points after the restart. Salzburg, meanwhile, have looked a threat on the counterattack but have been too open in defence. Marsch will look to Mwepu and Junuzovic to close the gaps in order to limit the space that the Reds are able to utilise in the second half.
Liverpool will hope to secure back-to-back victories when they travel to face Genk in their next Champions League fixture. Red Bull Salzburg, meanwhile, host Napoli next time out in Europe as they look to bounce back.
That brings an end to our coverage of the Champions League fixture between Liverpool and Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
