We're underway at the Luminus Arena.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League clash between Genk and Napoli at the Luminus Arena.
Napoli made a perfect start to their Champions League campaign by defeating the reigning champions Liverpool in their opener at the Stadio San Paolo. A strike from the penalty spot from Dries Mertens and a late effort from Fernando Llorente secured the victory. Carlo Ancelotti's men will be determined to capitalise on their good start to the group stage, although they will be wary of overconfidence after losing at home to Cagliari two weeks ago.
GENK SUBS: Casper de Norre, Dries Wouters, Sebastian Dewaest, Bryan Heynen, Joseph Paintsil, Paul Onuachu, Maarten Vandevoordt.
NAPOLI (4-4-2): Alex Meret; Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Kostas Manolas, Kalidou Koulibaly, Mario Rui; Jose Callejon, Allan, Eljif Elmas, Fabian Ruiz; Arkadiusz Milik, Hirving Lozano.
NAPOLI SUBS: Kevin Malcuit, Fernando Llorente, Sebastiano Luperto, Dries Mertens, Piotr Zielinski, David Ospina, Amin Younes.
Genk were hammered 6-2 in their Group E opener at the hands of Red Bull Salzburg on the road. Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick to down the Belgian outfit, who did notch consolation goals from Jhon Lucumi and Mbwana Samatta. The pressure is on Felice Mazzu's team to respond on home soil, although they will face a major challenge against Napoli. Genk have responded with back-to-back wins in domestic action, and will need to maintain that level of form tonight.
Carlo Ancelotti will be frustrated with his side at the break as they've not been clinical enough in the final third. Milik will draw his ire more than most given his importance to the team. However, the Italian outfit continue to create chances they will surely get the breakthrough in the second half. They've played well at times although it's not reflected on the scoresheet.
Genk are next in action in the Belgian First Division against Royal Excel Mouscron on Sunday at home, while Napoli play Torino on the road on the same day.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
