Elyounoussi drags a shot from outside the area wide of Leno's right hand post. Leno prepares to take the goal-kick and that'll be that.
90'
There will be three minutes added on to finish. Southampton probably needed that Targett shot to go in to get anything from this.
87'
Arsenal look keen to finish this match off as Vestergaard heads away another chance, but there's still some small hope for Southampton as Targett wins his team a corner.
84'
Southampton really need to think about going for it if they want to set up a nervy finish to the game, but after their mistakes earlier they seem reluctant to do so. Another Saints attack breaks down and Xhaka is dragged down by Hojbjerg as he breaks away down the flank.
82'
Aubameyang's mishit cross looks like it might drift in at the near post and is headed over the bar by Bednarek. Arsenal get a corner but it doesn't lead to anything.
81'
Southampton pop the ball around in front of Arsenal's defence, unable to create a scoring opportunity with Arsenal dropping deep. The pressure ends when Aubameyang wins the ball and is fouled by Valery.
79'
There's not very much to report. We're entering the final 10 minutes and it doesn't look like the game will get another goal from either side.
77'
Southampton show they're still here. First, Ward-Prowse picks up a cross at the far post, sets himself and shoots - it's blocked. Sokratis hooks away a follow-up cross by Elyounoussi.
76'
Aubameyang gets into the thick of the action quickly. Vestergaard looks to bundle him over just on the edge of Southampton's box near the goalline but it's no foul.
Minute
Description
75'
P. Aubameyang enters the game and replaces A. Iwobi.
It's Iwobi who's going to be replaced. Aubameyang comes on in his stead on Arsenal's left wing.
72'
Xhaka is forced to concede a corner from the free-kick. From the corner Austin directs a looping header towards goal but Leno reaches up to catch it.
71'
The second half has been extremely flat. Southampton win a free-kick through Elyounoussi on their left wing after Mustafi brings him down.
69'
Arsenal enjoy a leisurely spell on the ball. Lacazette hands Southampton a free-kick after Vestergaard nicks in and gets his shirt tugged.
67'
Sokratis' no-nonsense clearance leads to Southampton bringing the ball right back. The away side are more controlled in attack now but still haven't created a realistic scoring chance.
65'
M. Elyounoussi enters the game and replaces M. Obafemi.
Obafemi's 20-minute cameo is over. Elyounoussi replaces him - that's Southampton's final change.
63'
M. Özil enters the game and replaces A. Ramsey.
There it is - Ramsey walks off to a decent reception from the Arsenal fans. Ozil replaces him behind Lacazette.
61'
Ramsey plays a nice give-and-go with Iwobi and flashes another cross across the face of Southampton's goal but no one in a red and white shirt is there. It looks like Ozil will be replacing Ramsey soon.
59'
Arsenal are re-asserting themselves a bit again as Ramsey's cross from the left bobbles to the far post. Mkhitaryan is about to shoot but Bednarek is in a position to hook the ball clear.
57'
Southampton get a free-kick in their own half after Romeu is brought down by Iwobi. They break upfield down the left quickly but Redmond's pass goes out for an Arsenal goal-kick.
56'
L. Koscielny enters the game and replaces S. Lichtsteiner.
There's that change then - Lichtsteiner is replaced in Arsenal's back-line by Koscielny.
53'
Sokratis tries a ball over the top for Lacazette but the Frenchman's offside. Arsenal are on the back foot a little bit for now.
49'
Southampton are looking brighter now. Romeu tries to loft a ball towards Targett arriving in Arsenal's box on the overlap but Mustafi spots it and heads it away.
47'
Obafemi makes an immediate impression as he fouls Xhaka on the left wing. The Irish youngster's energy might make a difference here.
46'
C. Austin enters the game and replaces J. Stephens.
M. Obafemi enters the game and replaces S. Armstrong.
Second, Armstrong off. Obafemi on. It looks like Southampton have changed to a back four.
The second half gets started then. Will Arsenal keep cruising or will Southampton be able to salvage anything?
45' +2
HALF TIME: ARSENAL 2 - 0 SOUTHAMPTON
45'
There'll be at least two more minutes in this first half. This is a pleasant stroll in the sunshine for Arsenal at the moment.
Hasenhuttl's wasted no time, making two changes for Southampton. First, Stephens off. Austin on.
44'
Torreira breaks through midfield and passes left to Iwobi. Iwobi takes one touch too many and Arsenal have to settle for the corner. It's cleared.
42'
Lacazette is defied by Gunn again after Kolasinac drives forward and finds the Frenchman! The young English keeper's done his best with a porous defence in front of him.
38'
Xhaka's left-footed in-swinging corner from the right finds the head of Lacazette who flicks it towards goal. Gunn dives low to his right to save easily enough.
37'
Torreira's pinpoint forward pass is brought down fantastically by Iwobi who charges towards goal. Vestergaard slides in to block. Arsenal eventually win a corner given away by the Dane.
35'
Ward-Prowse looks incensed after he brings down Torreira deep in Arsenal's half. Arsenal free-kick. Southampton are still pushing but aren't offering half as much up front right now as they were earlier.
33'
Arsenal put together a lovely passage of play starting with Iwobi's trickery down the left and ending with Ramsey winning a free-kick on the edge of the 18-yard box. Torreira takes it and it's blocked. Mhkitaryan's follow-up cross is cleared too.
31'
Arsenal are still in charge of the game. Southampton have decided to sit in a bit for now, having realised that going forward is leaving them open at the back.
27'
Iwobi looks for a corner kick after a particularly poor cross floats out of play behind Southampton's goal. It looks more like he's trying to hide his embarrassment.
26'
Xhaka is pulling all the strings for Arsenal and creating chances. He finds Lacazette, who slides past Southampton's three-man defence, cuts inside on his right foot and shoots but it's blocked.
24'
After a frantic first 20 minutes the game is starting to settle down with Arsenal passing the ball comfortably at the back. Southampton are happy just not to have to defend again.
22'
That's better from Southampton. Valery makes progress down the right again and wins his team a corner off Sokratis. Arsenal see it out without much hassle.
20'
Ramsey fouls Targett in Southampton's half. The away side look spirited but have been far too sloppy in defence so far. They'll never get a result like that.
18'
It's all one-way traffic in Southampton's half now. There's a suggestion of handball against Stephens from Kolasinac's shot but the referee isn't convinced. Can we just call this game an Arsenal win and have it done with?
17'
H. Mkhitaryan has scored a goal for Arsenal!
16'
GOAL! 2-0 ARSENAL! Kolasinac is back on now, but Southampton have been architects of their own downfall. Stephens makes a poor back-pass to Gunn, Gunn hashes the clearance straight to Iwobi, and the winger curls a cross straight to the far side for Mhkitaryan to bang in.
12'
Arsenal win a second corner of the game, this time down their right off Targett. Torreira's effort is headed over by Sokratis.
10'
Xhaka picks up the ball outside the area from an Iwobi pass and blasts the ball over the bar. Arsenal are in the ascendancy now, despite Southampton's decent start.
7'
Great assist by Mkhitaryan but that was a woeful minute by Southampton. You can't afford to switch off this early in the game.
6'
A. Lacazette has scored a goal for Arsenal! Assist by H. Mkhitaryan.
GOAL! 1-0 ARSENAL! Arsenal go straight up the other end and score! Iwobi gets free down the left and whips a cross in. Torreira is bundled over in the box by Stephens, and Mhkitaryan's shot rolls to Lacazette at the back post who fires past Gunn.
4'
Iwobi slides through Kolasinac on the overlap and the pair win Arsenal their first corner of the game. It's taken short and Targett deals with it on the second attempt.
3'
Southampton have become more energetic under Hasenhuttl and they're pinging the ball around nicely in these early stages. Valery just fails to latch onto a nice angled ball towards him on the flank.
2'
It's a scrappy start to the game with both sides exchanging possession. Valery attempts to power down the right hand side but he's shepherded harmlessly away by Kolasinac.
1'
The referee Graham Scott gets this game underway in the lovely north London sunshine!
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary of this Premier League game between Arsenal and Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.
With the EFL Cup Final and Man Utd taking on Liverpool today, this match might feel like an afterthought. But while Arsenal have been erratic of late, they are still in the hunt for a top four finish in the Premier League. With the teams around them not playing or guaranteed to drop points, this could be a chance for Unai Emery's men to edge ahead of their competitors.
ARSENAL (4-2-3-1): Bernd Leno; Stephan Lichtsteiner, Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis, Sead Kolasinac; Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka; Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Aaron Ramsey (c), Alex Iwobi; Alexandre Lacazette.
SOUTHAMPTON (3-5-1-1): Angus Gunn; Jack Stephens, Jan Bednarek, Jannik Vestergaard; Yan Valery, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (c), James Ward-Prowse, Oriol Romeu, Matt Targett; Nathan Redmond; Stuart Armstrong.
SUBS: Alex McCarthy, Michael Obafemi, Charlie Austin, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Callum Slattery, Maya Yoshida, Ryan Bertrand.
The two sides are entering the Emirates pitch now - Arsenal are in their iconic red and white home kit, while Southampton are in their yellow and blue away attire. No colour clashes here.
Arsenal's opponents today are Southampton who start the day just inside the relegation zone. Ralph Hasenhuttl's side defeated Arsenal in the reverse fixture 3-2 back in December, though, and the Saints have improved under his tenure. A point or three today would help them climb out of trouble.
This result lifts Arsenal to fourth place in the Premier League, one point ahead of Man Utd who were held by Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford. Southampton stay in 18th for now, again only by a point below Cardiff. There's still plenty of time for them to catch the teams above them.
Arsenal will now turn their attention to their next game against another south coast side - Bournemouth will visit the Emirates Stadium in midweek. Southampton, meanwhile, have a must-win game at home to Fulham that same night. Will they get it? We'll see. That's all for now. Goodbye!
