Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this Premier League match between Tottenham and Leicester City!
Three changes from manager Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham clearly are preparing for their Champions League match midweek. Llorente, Skipp, and Rose replace Lucas, Erik Lamela, and Toby Alderweireld, albeit in a roundabout way. Skipp may be the most surprising entrant to today’s squad seeing as he’s 18-years-young, but the pressure will really be on Son. While Llorente has been the direct replacement for Kane during the latter’s absence, it’s Son who has had to provide the goals, scoring late goals in each of the last two weeks. Can he, or indeed they, repeat the feat again today in order to keep a slight grasp on the title race?
The big storyline today will surely be the absence of two England internationals that typically lead the line for their clubs as Harry Kane misses with ankle ligament damage while Jamie Vardy has been relegated to the bench for this match. Can Llorente or Gray step up and score the goals needed to win this match?
Now, let's take a look at the players who will be involved today!
Tottenham (4-1-2-1-2): Hugo Lloris, Kieran Trippier, Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Danny Rose; Oliver Skipp; Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko; Christian Eriksen; Son Heung-min, Fernando Llorente.
Tottenham substitutes: Paulo Gazzaniga, Toby Alderweireld, Juan Foyth, Victor Wanyama, Serge Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters, Lucas Moura.
Leicester substitutes: Danny Ward, Wes Morgan, Danny Simpson, Hamza Choudry, Shinji Okazaki, Jamie Vardy.
The teams are both out on the pitch. Not long to go until kick-off!
Leicester City (4-2-3-1): Kasper Schmeichel; Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell; Youri Tielemans, Wilfred Ndidi; Rachid Ghezzal, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes; Demarai Gray.
In the second half, Tottenham will have to be careful as, with some of the aforementioned refereeing decisions, three players are on yellow cards already. Vertonghen in particular will need to be a bit conservative as the pace of Gray and potentially Vardy, if he were to come on, could cause him problems. As for Leicester, they should feel confident with their performance in the first half and could easily find themselves back in this match with an early substitution... or goal.
That will do it for our live coverage of this Premier League match between Tottenham and Leicester City! We hope you enjoyed following along and will join us again soon!
Tottenham will be relieved to have made it through the last four matches unscathed and will be bolstered by the return of Harry Kane who, according to Mauricio Pochettino, will likely be fit for the match against Burnley on February 23rd. As for Leicester, they have now failed to pick up a win in their last five matches and will desperately be hoping to end that run when they host Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium in their next Premier League match.
