Alba is cautioned for his protests after Vermaelen was adjudged to have fouled an opposition player close to the touchline. Frustration is creeping in for Barca now as they have just a minute to score.
89'
Not to jinx Valencia, but the champions do not really look like scoring in the remaining minutes. Alba is unable to bring a long pass from Messi fully under control and the visitors clear behind for a corner.
87'
Good play from Malcom to control the ball but he should have done more to pick out Vidal. As it is, the home side win a corner which ends with Neto collecting the ball a few yards from his line.
86'
Suarez's shot deflects wide of the Valencia goal for a corner, which ultimately comes to little. The visitors, with the second-best defensive record in the division, are more than holding their own.
85'
This has been a disappointing 15-minute spell from Barca's perspective. They had all the momentum on their side after levelling up the match, but since then they have offered very little in front of goal.
84'
Malcom enters the game and replaces Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho, less involved today compared to a few days ago against Sevilla, is replaced by Malcom. Barca now have a little over five minutes to find a way through.
82'
Parejo hits the wall from the free-kick and is unable to pick out a team-mate when clipping the ball back into the box.
81'
Valencia have been the better side over the last six minutes or so. Barcelona have barely managed to get the ball forward, and all of a sudden the hosts are the side holding on as a free-kick is conceded 22 yards from goal.
80'
TER STEGEN MAKES THE SAVE! Wass plays the ball square for Mina who, moments after coming off the bench, sends a shot down the middle for Ter Stegen to keep out. A simple stop, but Valencia are showing signs that they are not quite content with a point afterall.

Description
79'
Santi Mina enters the game and replaces Rodrigo.
Rodrigo is replaced by Mina for the final stages of the match. Valverde, who still has one substitute available to make, will feel that his side still have plenty of time to snatch a winner.
77'
Wass makes a smart run towards the right and is picked out, but the attack fizzles out as Barca get bodies back. The visitors do not really look as though they want a third goal - they will accept what would still be an unlikely point at the home of the champions.
75'
The 10 minutes since Messi scored the equaliser have been the quietest 10 minutes of the match. Barca are continuing to put together pass after pass, but unlike before they are showing little end product.
72'
G. Kondogbia enters the game and replaces F. Coquelin.
Kondogbia comes on for Coquelin to help shore up the middle of the park for the final quarter of the match. Valencia would happily accept a point now, even if they did lead 2-0 at one point.
71'
Barcelona have had 69 per cent of the ball and have started to make their dominance count. Messi's second goal of the match, coming a minute after Valencia missed a presentable opportunity of their own, sets us up nicely for a tense finale here.
66'
Arthur enters the game and replaces Carles Aleñá.
Alena, who can be happy with his performance today, is replaced by Arthur in a like-for-like midfield change. Barcelona have around 25 minutes to score a winner.
64'
L. Messi has scored a goal for Barcelona! Assist by A. Vidal.
Valencia lost possession on the edge of the box and Vidal was smart enough to lay it off for Messi with a fancy flick.
GOOOAAALLL!!! BARCELONA 2-2 VALENCIA! Messi scores his second goal of the game to drag Barcelona back on level terms! Vidal flicks a loose ball into his team-mate's path and the Argentina forward catches out Neto by taking on the strike early, curling it into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
63'
BIG MISS! Cheryshev sends in a delightful cross from the left and Moreno can only lift it over the crossbar at full stretch. Barcelona are living very dangerously now!
62'
This has been a gripping contest at Camp Nou. The onus is on Barcelona to score another goal, but the best chance over the last 10 minutes fell Valencia's way - Moreno being kept out by Ter Stegen.
61'
NEARLY A THIRD FOR VALENCIA! The visitors, who have defended with 10 players behind the ball, give Barca a real scare. Parejo is again key to the attack, breaking up play and setting his side away in a move that ends with Ter Stegen cancelling out Moreno's poked finish from close range. Wass blasts the rebound wide.
59'
Nearly an hour played at Camp Nou and Barca still trail. The hosts have dominated since pulling a goal back late in the first half and would have been on level terms if not for some good goalkeeping and poor finishing.
57'
EASY SAVE! Neto has had seven saves to make today - this latest one just about the easiest of the lot. Rakitic shoots from 25 yards out but it is aimed right down the middle, where the Valencia keeper is waiting to gather it.
53'
GOOD ATTEMPT! Alena has looked solid in central midfield for Barcelona today. The academy product takes on the shot from all of 30 yards, but once again Neto is equal to it down to his left.
52'
The visitors are incredibly deep and surely cannot keep out the league leaders for another 38 minutes if they carry on in this manner. Barcelona will not be happy with just one more goal - they are after all three points.
50'
Barcelona are playing some scintillating stuff and twice come close, with a back-post header being cleared before Suarez's shot is blocked. Alba then fires wide from 10 yards when he should have been testing Neto at the very least.
48'
Suarez tries to con the referee into awarding a corner, but the last touch clearly came off him and the man in the middle spots it.
47'
SAVE! Well that didn't take long! A minute or so into the second half and Barcelona have already registered another shot on target. Alena wins back possession for his side high up the field and tees up Messi, whose shot was heading for the bottom corner if not for Neto's reflexes.
46'
Jordi Alba enters the game and replaces Nélson Semedo.
Ernesto Valverde makes a change for the start of the second half by bringing on Alba for Semedo at left-back. Roberto will seemingly switch to the right flank.
Barcelona, trailing by one goal with 45 minutes to play, get us back underway at Camp Nou!
45' +3
HALF-TIME: BARCELONA 1-2 VALENCIA
45' +2
I. Rakitić gets yellow.
Parejo wriggles away from Rakitic and the Barca midfielder kicks out at his opponent to earn a booking.
45'
Messi beats the offside trap but sends his first-time shot over the crossbar with just Neto to beat - a rarity from the Argentina forward. That was a delightful pass from Rakitic which deserved to be converted.
41'
Barcelona are knocking the ball around in the final third of the field, waiting for a gap to open up. Valencia have focused solely on defending since going two goals up and now have three more minutes to see out of an eventful first half.
40'
Ferran Torres enters the game and replaces K. Gameiro.
A double blow for Valencia as, seconds after conceding to a penalty, they are forced to take off Gameiro. The striker never recovered from his clash of heads with Pique and Torres will now take his place.
39'
Penalty goal scored by L. Messi for Barcelona!
GOOOAAALLL!!! BARCELONA 1-2 VALENCIA! Messi sends Neto the wrong way from the penalty spot and Barcelona are right back in the match. Valencia's players are unhappy that the penalty was awarded but, after a VAR check, the referee was happy for it to stand.
34'
Who saw this coming?! Barcelona trail by two goals with a third of the match played. As was the case before Valencia's second goal, the champions are seeing plenty of the ball but they are struggling to find a way through on goal.
32'
Penalty goal scored by Dani Parejo for Valencia!
GOOOAAALLL!!! BARCELONA 0-2 VALENCIA! Parejo, who has come close on a couple of occasions already today, converts past Ter Stegen from the penalty spot to double the visitors' tally.
31'
Sergi Roberto gets yellow.
Roberto is cautioned by the referee for his challenge on Wass, adding insult to injury.
26'
NEARLY AN OWN GOAL! This has been a good response from Barcelona - would you expect anything less?! Garay almost turns Coutinho's cross into his own net, only for Neto to produce a good stop to help the ball over the crossbar.
24'
K. Gameiro has scored a goal for Valencia! Assist by Rodrigo.
Moreno, formerly of Real Madrid, ensured that there was enough pace on the ball for Rodrigo to strike first time, without giving Ter Stegen a chance of getting to it first.
GOOOAAALLL!!! BARCELONA 0-1 VALENCIA! This is a wonderful opening goal from Valencia! Parejo wins the ball from Messi to spark a counter, which culminates in Moreno playing a perfectly-weighted pass through for Gameiro to fire past Ter Stegen from close range.
23'
Valencia are showing why they have been so defensively solid this season, restricting Barcelona to shots from range. Messi has been the hosts' most involved player so far in an attacking sense, touching the ball 23 times.
21'
Barcelona are starting to take control of the match. The hosts are stringing togethers passes galore but they have not created anything clear-cut, unlike their opponents. Coutinho's long-ranger was Barca's best moment thus far.
19'
Roberto miscues his cross towards the back post and very nearly catches out Neto. The Valencia keeper back-pedals and lifts the ball over the crossbar for a corner - that was going in.
16'
SAVE! Coutinho cuts in and guides the ball towards the bottom corner from range, but Neto is equal to it. The Brazil playmaker enjoyed arguably his best game in a Barca shirt last time out and is looking to build on that here.
14'
Messi curls one narrowly wide of the opposition net. Credit to Valencia for coming here with an attacking mentality, which appears to be working so far as they have edged things.
12'
Semedo's powerful drive hits Gabriel on the chest and bounces onto his arm. Barcelona want a penalty but the referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco points out that the defender could do little about it.
10'
OVER! Wass is played into plenty of space down Barca's left and picks out Parejo, who smashes the ball over the bar. Valencia may regret failing to take any of these early chances.
9'
Messi was always going to take on the free-kick, which he successfully lifts over the wall. It appears to be curling wide of the target but Neto is happy to gather it before it goes out of play.
8'
Some good challenges prevent Coutinho and Messi from getting shots away on target in the opposition box. Alena is growing into the game and wins his side a free-kick in a promising area.
7'
Barcelona are looking dangerous on the ball but Valencia could easily have opened the scoring in the opening five minutes. Parejo will no doubt feel that he could have scored from the cut-back and Cheryshev will also be kicking himself after striking the post from the follow-up.
3'
EARLY SAVE! Valencia have made a positive start to the match. The ball is played to Parejo on the edge of the box and the midfielder sweeps the ball towards the top corner, but Ter Stegen has a simple stop to make.
1'
A few minutes later than anticipated, Valencia get us underway at Camp Nou!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the LaLiga showdown between Barcelona and Valencia at Camp Nou.
Barcelona have won eight matches in a row in the Spanish top flight to open up a five-point gap on closest challengers Atletico Madrid, who are not in action until Sunday, and they can move another step closer to retaining their title with all three points today. Valencia appear to have turned a corner, meanwhile, as they have won back-to-back league matches for only the second time this season to move up to eighth place.
BARCELONA XI (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Nelson Semedo, Gerard Pique, Thomas Vermaelen, Sergi Roberto; Carles Alena, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal; Lionel Messi (c), Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho.
VALENCIA XI (4-4-2): Neto; Cristiano Piccini, Ezequiel Garay, Gabriel, Toni Lato; Daniel Wass, Francis Coquelin, Daniel Parejo (c), Denis Cheryshev; Rodrigo Moreno, Kevin Gameiro.
Valencia subs: Santi Mina, Lee Kang-in, Ferran Torres, Facundo Roncaglia, Jaume Domenech, Carlos Soler, Geoffrey Kondogbia.
The two teams are now out on the field at Camp Nou and we are moments away from kick-off. Barcelona have the chance to tighten their grip on top spot ahead of Atletico’s trip to Real Betis on Sunday, while Valencia will be targeting a point to keep their hopes of a top-six finish alive.
An eventful opening 45 minutes comes to an end at Camp Nou, with Valencia holding a 2-1 lead at the midway point. Gameiro opened the scoring for the visitors with a clinical finish a little over a quarter of the way into the match, before Parejo added a second from the penalty spot after Roberto was penalised for fouling Wass in the box. Barcelona have given themselves more than a little hope of claiming at least a point, though, thanks to Messi's successfully-converted spot kick following Lato's challenge on Semedo.
Valencia will argue that they are good value for their slender advantage as they wasted a couple of early opportunities prior to scoring their two goals. Like the visitors, Barcelona also hit the post in the first half through Roberto's saved shot, and if they pick up in the manner they finished the first half then it could well be another comeback win for them at Camp Nou.
Thanks for joining our coverage today. Until next time, goodbye!
Barcelona, whose eight-match winning run in the league comes to an end with this draw, return to action on Wednesday with the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid, before then heading to Athletic Bilbao next Sunday in LaLiga. Valencia's quest for European football resumes at home to Real Sociedad in a week's time, meanwhile, but first they take on Real Betis in the domestic cup.
