Lossl is up for a throw into the Burnley box but Lowe can’t reach it with a header and Lowton puts it long. That’s surely it now for chances.
90' +3
T. Heaton gets yellow.
Heaton is now handed a yellow card for time-wasting by Mike Dean.
90' +2
J. Hendrick enters the game and replaces A. Barnes.
Burnley make their final change, replacing Barnes with Hendrick.
90'
R. Brady goes off after a red card!
Save from Lossl! The keeper makes a one-on-one stop and Depoitre then breaks down the other end. He puts Mbenza forward and Brady brings him down 35 yards out. Mike Dean goes to his pocket - it's a straight red card! A fracas erupts between both sets of players, but Huddersfield are now back on equal footing in terms of manpower. Five added minutes are incoming too. Is there something on the cards for the hosts?
88'
Brady commits a foul and concedes the free-kick for the visitors, though the Clarets once more muscle up to see off any potential Terriers threat. Burnley have applied themselves very well defensively since going ahead.
83'
L. Depoitre enters the game and replaces E. Durm.
Huddersfield make their last change and it's Durm, a substitute earlier on, who makes way for Depoitre.
Huddersfield win a corner but can’t guide a serious attempt home from it, with Mounie ultimately taking the ball out of play trying to haul back a pass from Billing.
81'
Mounie and Tarkowski tangle with the Burnley man winning the resulting free-kick as the game ticks into its final 10 minutes or so.
80'
Brady hauls a shot wide of the net to the right following a Gudmundsson set-up. The substitute could have done a bit better, it must be said.
78'
C. Wood gets yellow.
Wood gets a booking now after time-wasting, with referee Mike Dean brokering no arguments.
Minute
Description
76'
There’s another pause in play after Kachunga and Barnes collide and both go down. There’s nothing malicious to the challenge, with a clash of heads looking to be responsible.
74'
A. Barnes has scored a goal for Burnley! Assist by A. Westwood.
Westwood gets the assist but that is a team goal and a half from Sean Dyche's side. Wonderful, free-flowing stuff to put them out in front.
BARNES GIVES BURNLEY THE LEAD! 2-1! The Clarets hit the front for the first time with some excellent counter-attacking football. From Durm’s penalty shout down the other end, the visitors work it wide down the right and Wood cuts back inside for Westwood. He then plays it left again, through into the box for the striker, stretching the defence and it’s a calm, collected finish to open up an advantage.
73'
Penalty shout for Durm! A long ball finds the Huddersfield man slipping in on the right of the box where a tussle with Taylor sees him hit the turf. Referee Mike Dean says no however and play continues.
71'
C. Löwe enters the game and replaces F. Hadergjonaj.
Wood with the scorpion kick! It doesn’t quite pay off as the Burnley man puts Brady’s square pass over the crossbar after he overran it by a foot or so.
Huddersfield make their second change of the game now, introducing Lowe for Hadergjonaj.
70'
Brady slips into the Terriers box on the left and fires a close-ranges strike at Lossl who spills it back into open play. Kongolo clears and the hosts survive.
68'
Taylor scythes down the left wing now and lifts a cross in seeking Barnes, only for Lossl to pluck it out of the air with a flying leap.
65'
Play is eventually resumed with Durm cleared to continue by the physios. The pause has cut off momentum for both sides though, which allows Huddersfield to regather themselves at the back.
63'
R. Brady enters the game and replaces D. McNeil.
With Durm still down, Burnley make their second change, bringing on Brady for McNeill up front.
59'
M. Lowton enters the game and replaces P. Bardsley.
Burnley make their first change now, with the injured Bardsley off and Lowton on.
57'
The Terriers may be a man down but they are refusing to sit back and simply attempt to keep their visitors out. Bardsley is now injured however for Burnley, and the Clarets look like they may have to make a change.
54'
Now Mounie tries to bundle in a square cross from Billing down the other end, though Cork gets there first and concedes the corner.
50'
Durm embarks on a lightning dash down the left wing and whips a cross in looking for any support in the penalty area, only to find Bardsley who clears with a workmanlike header.
48'
Barnes breaks through into the Terriers box on the back of a Wood pass but Kongolo does great work to both track him and win the foul, defusing the danger in the process.
46'
We’re back underway for the second half. Can Huddersfield grind out a draw or even a win? Or will Burnley’s numerical advantage show?
45' +3
HALF-TIME: HUDDERSFIELD 1-1 BURNLEY
45'
There will be three added minutes of injury time.
44'
E. Durm enters the game and replaces A. Pritchard.
Huddersfield are being forced into an early change after being reduced to 10 men, and Pritchard is the unfortunate soul being drafted off so that Durm can bring some additional defensive heft at the back.
42'
What a first half this has been. Gudmundsson now takes the free-kick and lashes a rocket of a shot over the wall. Lossl tracks it well though and saves cleanly.
41'
C. Schindler gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
Schindler is off! It’s a second yellow card for the Terriers man after he brings down McNeill on the edge of the box and Mike Dean gives him his marching orders. This game has been absolutely turned on its head in a matter of moments!
40'
C. Wood has scored a goal for Burnley! Assist by D. McNeil.
Huddersfield have only had the lead for seven minutes but the tables have turned thanks to the teenager McNeill. The John Smith’s Stadium has been silenced by his assist there, which really should have been dealt with by Schindler.
WOOD LEVELS FOR BURNLEY! 1-1! The Clarets are right back in this! A deflection off Kachunga falls kindly for McNeill on the left wing and after he turns the defence inside out, he puts a lovely square ball to his striker for a close-range tap-in past Lossl. The visitors are on an even keel once more!
37'
How Burnley respond to that goal could be a defining part of their season. Sean Dyche knows that his side need to swim rather than sink, with Huddersfield now firing on all cylinders.
33'
S. Mounié has scored a goal for Huddersfield Town! Assist by I. Mbenza.
Mbenza took the ball in following a Burnley breakaway after the corner that came from Kachunga's effort seconds before - and his delivery there was something to behold. Top drawer stuff from the bottom side in the Premier League.
MOUNIE FOR HUDDERSFIELD! 1-0! It’s the goal the Terriers have craved from their strikers all season! Mbenza turns a beautiful cross in from the left wing and picks out his forward with pinpoint precision, whose low header bounces beyond Heaton’s grasp and in at the far post. Advantage to the hosts.
31'
P. Bardsley gets yellow.
Bardsley comes in hard on Mbenza and picks up a booking for his troubles now too, with referee Mike Dean brandishing the card straight away.
30'
C. Schindler gets yellow.
Schindler bowls over Wood with a messy challenge after the Burnley man sticks tight and draws him in. The visitors have a great chance for a set-piece goal now.
26'
Burnley win themselves a free-kick just inside the opposition half and they whip it crossfield to the right flank. Gudmundsson strays offside however from the subsequent play near the box and Huddersfield get the ball back cheaply.
24'
Huddersfield find some pace down that right flank again and Pritchard lofts a looping cross in for Mounie. The striker can’t get a header to it though and Tarkowski safely nudges it back to earth for Heaton to scramble on.
22'
McNeill now blasts a shot from outside the box, steering a left-footer wide of the near-post out after cutting inside off his wing.
18'
Kongolo wins the first corner of the game when he sees his cross off the left wing deflected. It’s a promising delivery, but Burnley defend it with steadfast determination. - and then win a free-kick from the following long throw for a foul on Mee.
16'
Back-and-forth stuff in midfield as Gudmundsson gains, loses and regains the ball from a number of Huddersfield players before McNeill is shut down by Schindler.
14'
B. Mee gets yellow.
Mee clatters Mounie on halfway and referee Mike Dean brandishes a yellow card from his pocket for the Burnley man.
13'
The early movement is all from Huddersfield, but Mbenza does some deft work cutting back to deal with a Burnley breakaway, getting across Gudmundsson cleanly to prevent Barnes from finding him 15 yards from the hosts’ box.
11'
Mounie again puts a shot towards goal, this time as he finishes a move on the edge of the box. It’s low and a little tricky, though Heaton is perfectly composed in dealing with it.
9'
Mounie attempts an ambitious overhead kick in the box to finish off a run and square cross from Billing, but Gudmundsson does enough to put him off and he miscues the effort.
7'
Pritchard carves a busy run down the right side and curls it back inside for Billing just outside the box. The Huddersfield man strikes from distance, only to scuff his shot and put it wide at the near post.
5'
Bardsley puts a long throw into the Terriers box for McNeill to scamper after, though Hadergjonaj sees it away with a cagey clearance.
3'
The early exchanges between the two are tenuous, though the Terriers focus mostly on trying to take the ball down the right wing. Billing commits a foul just inside the opposition half however and the Clarets have a free-kick.

We’re underway in this Premier League clash between Huddersfield Town and Burnley!
Hello and welcome to live coverage of the 2018-19 Premier League as Huddersfield Town and Burnley face off against each other in their first game of the new year at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Terriers and the Clarets both find themselves firmly embroiled in a relegation battle after generally dire first halves of the season, sitting last and third-from-bottom respectively. This game is a crucial part of their campaigns, with each side knowing that a win could provide a much-needed lifeline.
David Wagner masterminded an impressive feat in retaining top-flight status for Huddersfield last year, when many had tipped them to go down – but it is looking increasingly unlikely that they will avoid the drop this time around. Does the German-American have another ace up his sleeve?
Sean Dyche took Burnley to Europe, to end a half-century exodus from continental football at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, but those achievements seem a world away following their ignominious continental exit earlier this season. His side too are in a fight to stay up – can the one-time Watford man haul them out of the scrap for survival?
BURNLEY (4-4-2): Tom Heaton; Phil Bardsley, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Johann Gudmundsson, Ashley Westwood, Jack Cork, Dwight McNeil; Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood.
Subs: Laurent Depoitre, Erik Durm, Ben Hamer, Jon Gorenc Stankovic, Juninho Bacuna, Chris Lowe, Adama Diakhaby.
HUDDERSFIELD TOWN (4-2-3-1): Jonas Lossl; Florent Hadergjonaj, Mathias Jorgensen, Christopher Schindler; Terence Kongolo; Jonathan Hogg, Philip Billing; Elias Kachunga, Alex Pritchard, Isaac Mbenza; Steve Mounie.
Subs: Kevin Long, Robbie Brady, Matej Vydra, Matthew Lowton, Joe Hart, Jeff Hendrick, Sam Vokes.
The teams are out at the John Smith’s Stadium and we are moments away from kick-off.
It’s all square at the John Smith’s Stadium after a last quarter-hour of high drama in West Yorkshire. Steve Mounie gave the hosts a deserving lead, but Chris Wood pulled it back for the visitors – and then the Clarets gained a man advantage after Christopher Schindler was handed a second yellow card. The Terriers are at a disadvantage but can they grit it out to take something away? At half-time, it’s Huddersfield 1-1 Burnley.
David Wagner’s hand has been forced with that early change and his side are going to really have to bust their guts to hold onto something now. Burnley can surely smell a golden chance, but will Sean Dyche be tempted to throw on extra attackers early on to press home in search of a winner?
FA Cup third-round ties against lower league opposition await both now as they take a break from top-flight action this coming weekend. For Huddersfield, they travel south to tangle with Bristol City. As for Burnley, they have the pleasure of hosting Barnsley. Until then however, thank you for joining us – and have a great week!
