The teams are out and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Wembley Stadium.
Despite golden opportunities at both ends, neither Tottenham nor Burnley were able to take their chances in the opening half. Kane felt that he should have had a penalty after 25 minutes when he was brought down by Tarkowski, but the referee thought otherwise. Lamela had the hosts’ best chance but he saw his close-range effort denied by Hart on 31 minutes. Barnes had the chance to break the deadlock before the break, but his header from six yards went high over the bar in the final minute of the half.
Tottenham became increasingly threatening as the half went on as Rose and Trippier began to find more space down either wing. On numerous occasions the home side were inches away from getting something on those crosses and they will hope to turn one into a goal in the second half. Burnley, meanwhile, have defended resolutely and have looked dangerous on the break. They will seek to continue in the second half how the played in the first.
Tottenham face Everton next time out at Goodison Park as they look to continue their good form. Burnley, meanwhile, travel to Arsenal as they look to bounce back from tonight’s disappointment.
That brings an end to our coverage of the Premier League fixture between Tottenham and Burnley at Wembley Stadium. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
