We're underway at the Etihad Stadium.
City suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season last week, losing 2-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Goals from N'Golo Kante and David Luiz knocked Pep Guardiola's men off top spot in the table and they will be desperate to reclaim pole position to put the pressure back on Liverpool this afternoon. Everton needed a last-minute free-kick from Lucas Digne to avoid defeat to Watford last time out. The Toffees have failed to win any of their last three matches and are in need of a strong performance to stop the trend before Christmas.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Everton at the Etihad Stadium.

The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
Manchester City hold a 1-0 lead at the break over Everton thanks to Gabriel Jesus' strike. The Toffees did have an opportunity to go ahead before the home side, but Richarlison missed a golden opportunity, placing his effort over the bar. City made him pay for his mistake with an incisive move to capitalise on an error from Yerry Mina. The Colombian misplaced his offload, which allowed Ilkay Gundogan to find Leroy Sane, who in turn found Gabriel Jesus in the box. The City forward slotted his effort underneath Jordan Pickford into the net. From that point onwards, Pep Guardiola's men controlled the rest of the first half.
Only a fine save from Pickford prevented City from doubling their advantage as he denied Riyad Mahrez from close range. Everton boss Marco Silva may need to re-adjust his plans for the second half given the way that his team have invited pressure on themselves by playing the ball out from the back. It has played into the hands of the home side and Pep Guardiola will be looking for his team to kill the game off as soon as possible in the second period.
City are next in action against Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup next week at the King Power Stadium. Everton play at home to Tottenham next Sunday in the Premier League.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
