The referee indicates an additional three minutes at the end of the match
88'
Penalty goal scored by Sergio Ramos for Real Madrid!
COOL AS YOU LIKE FROM SERGIO RAMOS! 2-0 Madrid! The captain and centre-back steps up to the spot and waits for the goalkeeper to move before chipping his penalty into the right-hand side of the net.
87'
PENALTY TO MADRID! Benzema gets into the penalty area after latching onto a Vinicius pass and cuts inside, throwing Calero off-balance and forcing him into a sloppy challenge. The referee makes the correct decision, and the home side now have an opportunity to guarantee the result!
85'
D. Čop enters the game and replaces Javi Moyano.
Gonzalez throws on another striker as he looks to get his side level. Duje Cop is in for Moyano.
83'
Vinícius Júnior has scored a goal for Real Madrid! Assist by Isco.
REAL MADRID LEAD THROUGH A VERY FORTUNATE OWN GOAL! Vinicius cuts into the penalty area and curls a shot towards goal with his right foot, which takes an incredibly unlucky touch off of the back of Kiko and past Masip in the Valladolid net! 1-0 to the home side!
Assist Francisco Román Alarcón Suárez
81'
Ramos is moving further and further up the pitch as he looks to act as an auxiliary striker – a role he is quite used to filling. Despite playing at centre-back, the captain is known for his ability to score, especially crucial goals in late stages of matches.
80'
Verde takes a venomous shot with his left foot which is dealt with somewhat unconvincingly by Courtois who punches it straight up in the air before using his tall frame to make the catch. With 10 minutes remaining, Valladolid refuse to sit back and defend!
78'
Modric once again splits the defence with a wonderful pass for Odriozola whose cross is caught brilliantly well by Masip – though replays suggest play should have stopped for offside before the delivery came in.
76'
Óscar Plano enters the game and replaces L. Suárez.
Plano replaces Suarez in Valladolid’s second substitution of the game.
Minute
Description
75'
Valladolid catch a break as Benzema is called for a foul after being unable to latch onto a splitting pass from Modric. It would have been a corner, but the petulance from the Real Madrid striker gives away a set-piece opportunity.
73'
Vinícius Júnior enters the game and replaces Marco Asensio.
Marco Asensio looked fantastic today, but he was unable to contribute to a goal for his side. Vinicius replaces him with just over 15 minutes left.
71'
Lucas Vázquez enters the game and replaces G. Bale.
Gareth Bale is called to the bench by Solari, who hopes that Vazquez will be the difference between the two sides with less than 20 minutes left.
69'
D. Verde enters the game and replaces Toni Villa.
Toni Villa won’t get a chance to influence the match anymore, as he is withdrawn after striking the crossbar. Daniele Verde is his replacement.
68'
Modric wins back possession desperately and plays a somewhat impatient pass forward towards Bale and Benzema, though Kiko cuts across and wins possession back for his side.
66'
A SECOND CROSSBAR FOR VALLADOLID! Villa curls an effort from the top of the penalty area which evades the outstretched hand of Courtois, but smacks against the woodwork! The away side are building up well and exposing their opponents on the counter-attack, and they should feel somewhat frustrated by their lack of goals.
64'
Reguilon shows his defensive presence as Valladolid outnumber Madrid in the attacking third. Villa looks to switch the ball across for an unmarked Suarez, but the left-back comes across and intercepts the dangerous pass.
62'
Kroos has the ball just outside the penalty area on his left but chooses to put it on his right and cross it into the chest of Benzema instead of having a shot. The striker controls the pass well and lays it off for Modric, but the referee halts play as he acknowledges the linesman’s raised flag as Benzema was unable to keep onside.
60'
Villa breaks into the penalty area and has a shot with his right foot, but there’s barely any power in the effort and Courtois gets down immediately to make the stop.
56'
Isco enters the game and replaces Casemiro.
BENZEMA AND CASEMIRO DENIED IN QUICK SUCCESSION! Benzema tees up a shot from inside the penalty area which gets past Masip, but not past Calero who makes a crucial block just ahead of the goal line. The ball exits the penalty area and falls to the foot of Casemiro who rifles a shot towards the bottom corner, but the goalkeeper gets across with cat-like reflexes to make the stop.
That shot from Casemiro will be his last contribution to the match. Isco is on to replace him.
54'
Kroos takes a short corner to Reguilon, and has the ball returned immediately. The German international then cuts inside and fires a cross to the far post which goes over the head of the goalkeeper towards Asensio, but Moyano gets just enough of it to put it out for a corner.
52'
Asensio bursts forward and touches it to the right for the run of Odriozola who gets near the byline before putting in a very poor cross which loops into the arms of Masip. Reguilon has been having a tremendous match on the left, but the same cannot be said for the Real Madrid right-back who has been woeful in his deliveries.
50'
Nacho is unhappy as Suarez buys a foul somewhat cheaply after the Madrid centre-back took a step towards the forward in an attempt to win the ball. Much to the delight of the home faithful, the cross into the box is a poor one and it eventually runs out for a goal-kick.
48'
Modric doesn’t take a second opportunity to shoot in the match, laying it off instead for Odriozola who is unable to get away from Moyano who puts in a wonderful sliding challenge to block a cross. Madrid still have possession, however, as Valladolid are unable to clear the danger.
46'
Real Valladolid get the second half underway at the Santiago Bernabeu, with both sides level at 0-0.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-0 REAL VALLADOLID.
45'
Marco Asensio gets yellow.
Asensio is shown the first yellow card of the match for a foul on Alcaraz in midfield.
43'
Modric has a sight at goal from well outside the penalty area and attempts an audacious strike which flies over Masip’s goal. I suppose it was worth a shot – Madrid need something to get them going.
41'
ALMOST FROM UNAL! An early cross is put in from deep in midfield, and the striker keeps onside and manages to stretch out his neck just enough to get a touch on the ball – but he is unable to keep the effort on target! Courtois can breathe a sigh of relief as he collects the ball for a goal-kick.
40'
It’s Alcaraz himself who smashes the free-kick into the wall and wins his side a throw-in. The initial chance has gone, but Valladolid are keeping the pressure on with five minutes left in the half.
38'
Alcaraz wins a free-kick from Benzema just outside the Madrid penalty area. Can the visitors capitalise just before the half?!
35'
Villa gets into the penalty box now and shoots to the far post using his left foot. It’s a poor effort, but it takes a touch on its way out and Valladolid have a corner! The visitors are growing in confidence here with 10 minutes left in the first half!
33'
VALLADOLID WASTE THEIR FIRST CHANCE! Alcaraz plays Antonito through into the penalty area, completely unmarked by Madrid defenders. Courtois takes a step off his line and the winger opts to chip the goalkeeper, though he sends his opportunity over the crossbar!
31'
Casemiro is denied again as Kroos’s corner finds the Brazil international near the six-yard box, but his header is directed right into the hands of Masip who has made two saves so far, though neither of them have been extremely difficult.
29'
Antonito plays a ball forward from the right looking to find the run of either Michel or Suarez, but they both stop their run and move backwards, allowing Ramos to pick up possession easily in his own half.
27'
Odriozola splits three defenders and breaks into the penalty area, but he loses possession at the last moment thanks to Calero’s well-timed challenge. Martinez gets tangled up with the Madrid right-back on the byline, but the referee refuses to hear the home side’s claims for a penalty.
25'
Kroos sends a free-kick into the box from the left wing, but Calero meets it at the far post and nods it back for a Madrid throw-in from a dangerous position.
21'
Benzema’s errant pass to the left for Asensio infuriates the crowd who whistle the striker for another wasted opportunity. The former France international should really have done better with his chances in the match so far.
17'
ANOTHER CHANCE GOES BEGGING! Again the service is from the left as Reguilon swings in a cross – and for what seems like the hundredth time, it finds its target on the edge of the six-yard box. Unfortunately for the home support, Benzema’s diving header is a weak one and Masip makes the save.
15'
Kroos takes a free-kick from the right-hand touchline and finds Casemiro just outside the six-yard box, but the Brazil international sends his headed chance over the crossbar and out for a goal-kick.
9'
Asensio flashes the ball across the face of goal, but Benzema can’t quite meet the delivery as he is a step behind the pass which is put into the six-yard box.
7'
It’s been a positive start for Madrid who really needed to get the crowd onside. The Merengues' attacks are being funnelled through the left, down Asensio’s channel. He really looks up for the challenge as he fires another dangerous ball into the box which is cleared.
3'
The home supporters are in full voice in the early stages as Madrid control possession. They’re switching it from left to right as they search for gaps in the Valladolid defence, but haven’t found anything yet.

Real Madrid take the kick-off, looking to put their poor run of form behind them!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE LaLiga commentary of the fixture between Real Madrid and Real Valladolid from the Santiago Bernabeu!
Santiago Solari takes charge today of his first league fixture in a caretaker capacity for Madrid, following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui. Last weekend’s 5-1 Clasico defeat signalled the end of the former Spain manager’s reign, with the side winless in their last five domestic matches. Solari started life in the technical area positively, with a 4-0 thrashing of Melilla in the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie and will look to continue the positivity.
Having never coached at the senior level, the former Real Madrid Castilla manager certainly has his work cut out for him. The Champions League holders sit in ninth place, seven points from Barcelona who lead the pack with 21 points from 10 played. Today will be a difficult test for a Madrid side riddled with injuries in the defensive third – though anything but all three points will be a failure regardless of circumstance.
Real Valladolid should not be viewed as an easy target, as Sergio Gonzalez has his side above their illustrious opponents by two points. A fantastic run of six matches unbeaten, including four wins, has drastically overturned a poor start which saw the club amass only two points and no goals from their opening four games.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, the team news has been confirmed! Let's start with the home side!
In their first campaign in Spain’s top division since the 2013/14, it is clear that defensive solidity is the key to Valladolid’s survival. Their seven goals conceded in 10 matches is the second-best record in the country, bettered only – somewhat expectedly – by Atletico Madrid who have allowed two less. The side from Castile and Leon have four wins and four draws on the season, with three of those victories and two stalemates coming thanks to clean sheets from Jordi Masip, who has been a mainstay in the Valladolid goal.
REAL MADRID (4-3-3): Thibaut Courtois; Sergio Reguilon, Nacho Fernandez, Sergio Ramos, Alvaro Odriozola; Luka Modric, Casemiro, Toni Kroos; Marco Asensio, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale.
REAL MADRID SUBS: Javi Sanchez, Lucas Vazquez, Keylor Navas, Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, Dani Ceballos, Isco.
REAL VALLADOLID (4-4-2): Jordi Masip; Javi Moyano, Kiko Olivas, Fernando Calero, Nacho Martinez; Antonito, Michel, Ruben Alcaraz, Toni Villa; Leo Suarez, Enes Unal.
REAL VALLADOLID SUBS: Oscar Plano, Yoel Rodriguez, Daniele Verde, Joaquin Fernandez, Duje Cop, Borja Fernandez, Anuar Mohamed.
Real Madrid started the match brightly, finding gaps on the left-hand side and exposing the weakness in their opponents brilliantly. Both Reguilon and Asensio have been of paramount importance on that flank, with most of Madrid’s opportunities coming from crosses originating on the left. Bale and Benzema have had a couple of chances each to break the deadlock, and it really could be 4-0 to the hosts if they were in a richer vein of form.
Valladolid have defended as best as they could in the first half, with the threat of Asensio always looming. Masip has been relatively unbothered, with most of Real’s chances being sent wide of the goal. Antonito and Unal have had chances to snatch an unexpected goal for the visitors, though the former’s audacious chip over Courtois was probably not the best option given the situation. Even still, there is all to play for in the second half, which should please Gonzalez greatly.
That concludes our LaLiga commentary of the fixture between Real Madrid and Real Valladolid! We hope you enjoyed it!
Real Madrid will look to continue Solari’s positive start when they travel to face Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday in the Champions League. Real Valladolid are not in action again until Saturday, when they host Eibar.
