CHANCE! Ozil lays it off to Mkhitaryan, who tries to slide it through for Lacazette, but it's just nicked away from him! That should be that.
90' +1
C. Clark has scored a goal for Newcastle United! Assist by F. Fernández.
GOAL! Clark makes it 2-1! Arsenal's wait for a clean sheet this season continues as Fernandez's cross from the right finds his centre-back partner Clark, who powers a header in off Cech, who just couldn't keep it out! Game on!
The two Newcastle centre-backs combine well as Fernandez produces an excellent cross from the right that Clark finishes off well.
90'
CHANCE! A blistering counter-attack from Arsenal as Lacazette puts Webeck through on goal, but he's under all sorts of pressure and can only find the side-netting with his shot.
88'
SAVE! Cech preserves Arsenal's only clean sheet so far this season as a looping ball finds the head of Joselu, who had peeled off Mustafi, and Cech has to tip a powerful header over the bar from inside the box!
86'
Perez tries to cross from the right and it sails into the gloves of Cech, but he fumbles it just a little as he lands on the turf, but snatches it back into his grasp before Joselu could capitalise.
85'
CHANCE! Arsenal carve Newcastle open again, and Welbeck can't force it in at the back post, before Lacazette sees a shot on the turn blocked away too!
84'
The introduction of Torreira seemed to spark the Gunners into life, and he surely has to start in Arsenal's next game.
82'
The first half performance was admirable from Newcastle, as was the case in the vast majority of their 2-1 defeats to the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City, but their second half will be cause for concern for Benitez.
80'
D. Welbeck enters the game and replaces A. Ramsey.
Emery also makes his final change, bringing Ramsey off for the hard-working Welbeck, who slots in on the left, allowing Ozil to come into the centre and seeing Mkhitaryan switch to the right.
Minute
Description
79'
Y. Muto enters the game and replaces M. Ritchie.
Ritchie makes way for Muto in Newcastle's final change of the day. Can he inspire a comeback?
78'
It's been a terrible start for Kenedy, who now gives away an unnecessary free-kick as he clatters into Sokratis. The centre-back wasn't going anywhere, and fouling him has allowed Arsenal to relieve the pressure on them.
76'
Arsenal look very comfortable now as they play the ball around well. Newcastle look to have run out of ideas.
74'
Newcastle defend the corner with 10 men as Yedlin receives treatment following his attempt to haul Ramsey down, but they get it clear. They don't need any more injuries at the back, and are relieved to see the right-back trudge back on.
73'
CHANCE! Kenedy won't want to see this one again. He produces an awful corner, and gives the ball away very cheaply, allowing Arsenal to break swiftly. Yedlin then tries to bring Ramsey down on the right, but the Welshman gets up and carries on before crossing to Mkhitaryan on the left. The Armenian takes a touch and shoots, but it's blocked excellently by Dummett!
71'
MISS! A wonderful move by Arsenal sees Ozil lay the ball off for Torreira on the edge of the area, but the Uruguayan's first-time effort is high over the bar.
69'
Kenedy enters the game and replaces J. Murphy.
H. Mkhitaryan enters the game and replaces P. Aubameyang.
Mkhitaryan is now introduced, and will replace Aubameyang on the left. Perhaps at 2-0 up, Emery doesn't feel the need for two strikers any longer.
Murphy - who has been bright today - is replaced by Chelsea loanee Kenedy, rather than Rondon.
68'
Cech has to come out a long way to sweep up as Hayden chases a long ball in behind, before Lacazette almost finds Aubameyang in behind with a clever reverse pass, but Dubravka gets there ahead of him.
67'
Both sides appear to be readying changes, with Rondon and Mkhitaryan receiving instructions from their coaches.
65'
Lacazette has worked hard today both on and off the ball, and he concedes a foul as he sprints back to put Hayden under pressure on the halfway line. A little overzealous, perhaps, but his appetite for tracking back is to be praised.
63'
Newcastle have had a second wind here as they get forward through Murphy on the left. Ozil then gives away a foul on Hayden. Arsenal's quality in attack can't completely mask their deficiencies in defence so far this season.
61'
Newcastle surge forward themselves and try to get back into the game through Ritchie, but his shot from inside the box is blocked away. Perhaps he had better options, but he didn't get his head up.
59'
CHANCE! Arsenal could have had another! Lacazette slips Aubameyang through on the left, and he gets the ball under control, but drags his left-footed shot agonisingly wide of the far post! Arsenal look very dangerous in this second half.
58'
M. Özil has scored a goal for Arsenal!
GOAL!! Ozil doubles the Gunners' lead! It's 2-0 now, and it's an important goal for Arsenal. Monreal and Xhaka work it down the line between them, and the latter's cut-back finds Lacazette in space inside the box. His shot is charged down, but it falls to Ozil, who passes it into the bottom-left corner. Dubravka gets a hand to it again, and maybe should do better.
57'
Aubameyang attempts an ambitious shot from range as he cuts in from the left, but it cannons out off the back of a defender.
56'
Promising play from Arsenal down the left breaks down as Ozil's touch is heavy, before Newcastle attempt to break quickly down the left, but Cech is able to collect the cross comfortably.
54'
The Gunners are in complete control now. Newcastle's press has ebbed and the quality of passing from those in red and white has improved greatly.
52'
Arsenal are starting to play it around confidently now. Ozil's pass across the edge of the box just takes Ramsey wide, and he works at back across to Torreira, whose long-range effort is charged down quickly.
51'
Aubameyang and Ramsey try to link up on the left, but the latter's ball is just behind the former. Much better tempo from Arsenal so far this half though.
49'
G. Xhaka has scored a goal for Arsenal!
GOAL!! Xhaka opens the scoring! It's 1-0 to the Gunners with the first shot on target of the game so far! Torreira and Xhaka stood over the free-kick, but it was the Switzerland midfielder who took it and powered it into the top-right corner! Dubravka got a touch, but just couldn't keep it out!
48'
Torreira makes an immediate impact as he links play well with his passing, and feeds Lacazette on the edge of the area, who is brought down by Fernandez and wins a free-kick.
46'
C. Clark enters the game and replaces J. Lascelles.
L. Torreira enters the game and replaces M. Guendouzi.
Lascelles, who looked to be struggling with a little injury in the first half, is replaced by Clark at half-time.
And we're back underway for the second half!
And it seems Torreira will be coming on, with promising youngster Guendouzi making way.
45'
HALF-TIME: NEWCASTLE 0-0 ARSENAL
44'
CHANCE! Joselu bullies Mustafi on the left, sending him tumbling to the ground and whipping a cross in for Ritchie, but the Newcastle winger fouls Bellerin as he jumps for it.
41'
CHANCE! There's chaos in the Newcastle box as Arsenal try to force it in, but it's eventually cleared and Sokratis steps out to make an excellent, uncompromising challenge on the advancing Murphy.
40'
Ozil has drifted all the way into the centre from his flank, forcing Lacazette to pull wide and cover. That flank looks very open.
39'
Some nice touches from Guendouzi and Ozil in midfield as they spin away from their markers, before setting the Gunners on the front foot with Ramsey, whose cross from the left is better this time, but Bellerin is just beaten to it in the air.
37'
Arsenal get their foot on the ball and pass the ball around themselves as Newcastle set up camp in their own half. Lacazette then wins a foul in the attacking half, but Xhaka's delivery is repelled.
35'
Lacazette shows good desire to sprint back, but he gives away a foul on Diame as he bundles into him from behind.
33'
CHANCE! Monreal and Lacazette produce some sublime football to release Ramsey in behind on the left, but his cross is woeful, and flies straight out of play. Really poor from the midfielder, who just needed to play a simple pass across goal.
31'
Mustafi tries to drive out from defence with the ball and overruns it, giving it away. Newcastle then spring a quick counter down their right before crossing it in, and Bellerin nearly gets caught underneath it, but he just about heads it behind for a corner.
29'
Lacazette charges down a loose ball behind the Newcastle defence, but Fernandez again does just about enough and gets there to play it to Dubravka, who hastily clears his lines.
27'
Miscommunication between Aubameyang and Lacazette as the former plays the ball in behind, expecting a forward run, but Lacazette had checked his run for a cut-back.
25'
Lacazette wins a foul on the left and Xhaka's delivery is poor to the front post, but Lacazette does well to wriggle free and hit an effort with his left foot, but it's only into the side-netting.
24'
CHANCE! Ozil gets a chance to play the ball through for Aubameyang through the middle as Arsenal win the ball back in midfield, and he gets between the two centre-halves, but Fernandez just about does enough to nick the ball off the striker's toes. Great challenge!
22'
CHANCE! Murphy gets a dangerous cross in from the left that Cech has to dive out and palm clear. Newcastle looking dangerous.
21'
SLIP! Mustafi somehow loses his footing under no pressure as he looks to head a long ball clear, and Sokratis has to sprint back to keep Murphy from opening the scoring. That could have been costly from the German.
20'
It's just an inch too high for Sokratis, and Bellerin keeps it in play before Guendouzi shows great composure to calmly return the ball to Cech under pressure.
19'
Arsenal win their first corner of the game as they work their left flank well. Ozil lines it up.
17'
Ramsey recovers well from a poor touch and feeds Lacazette on the shoulder of Fernandez, who plays it wide for Guendouzi, and the young midfielder's cross nearly finds the top corner, but flies just over!
16'
Newcastle are having plenty of success down their left as Ritchie has a go, getting to the byline and crossing, but the referee deems the ball to have gone out of play.
15'
Bellerin gets away down the right and tries to cross, but it's blocked and goes out off his knee for a goal-kick.
14'
Newcastle win their fourth corner in the opening 15 minutes, but it's repelled by the Arsenal defence. Bellerin then wins a free-kick off Perez from the follow-up cross.
12'
Cech is put under pressure with the ball at his feet and can only pass the ball straight out of play. He's clearly very uncomfortable playing this style of football. Joselu then thinks he's in behind, but he's flagged up for offside.
11'
Ritchie then switches the ball onto his favoured left foot and swings an outstanding ball towards the back post, but nobody can get on the end of it.
10'
CHANCE! Lascelles has a free header at the back post and nods it towards Perez, whose flicked header is blocked by Mustafi and goes out for another corner!
9'
Perez finds Murphy who races in behind Bellerin, before crossing low into the centre, but Xhaka is in the right place to clear out for a corner.
8'
Arsenal are hemmed back as they try to pass it out somewhat lethargically, and are forced to go long through Mustafi.
6'
Newcastle look confident in these early stages, looking to press Arsenal and match them high up the pitch.
4'
Both sides looking to play their way forward here, somewhat surprisingly for Newcastle. They appear to be targeting Arsenal's right flank as an area of weakness, with Bellerin known for bombing forward and Ozil not wanting to track back from his right-wing position.
2'
Monreal is forced to give away an early foul as Perez pulls wide and looks to run in behind. It comes to nothing, however.
1'
Newcastle get us underway!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Premier League fixture between Newcastle United and Arsenal at St James' Park as we return to club football following the international break.
Newcastle United face another difficult fixture in a gruelling start to their season, having already played Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City, losing by 2-1 scorelines each time.
Arsenal were handed a similarly tough start, facing Manchester City and Chelsea in their opening two matches. However, they bounced back from successive defeats with back-to-back victories over West Ham and Cardiff.
The line-ups are out, and we'll start with the home side.
Newcastle substitutes: Yoshinori Muto, Ciaran Clark, Jonjo Shelvey, Karl Darlow, Kenedy, Javier Manquillo, Salomon Rondon
Arsenal XI (4-2-3-1): Petr Cech; Nacho Monreal, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi, Hector Bellerin; Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil; Alexandre Lacazette
Arsenal substitutes: Mohamed Elneny, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Lucas Torreira, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Rob Holding, Bernd Leno, Danny Welbeck
Arsenal, meanwhile, are unchanged following their 3-2 victory over Cardiff as they look to record three consecutive wins.
Newcastle XI (4-4-1-1): Martin Dubravka; Paul Dummett, Federico Fernandez, Jamaal Lascelles, DeAndre Yedlin; Jacob Murphy, Mohamed Diame, Issac Hayden, Matt Ritchie; Ayoze Perez; Joselu
Two changes for Benitez following their defeat to Manchester City last time out. Clark and Ki Sung-yueng drop out as the Spaniard switches to four at the back. Ritchie and Shelvey have both just returned from injury, but while the former starts, the latter is only fit enough for the bench, meaning Hayden gets to play against his former club.
Arsenal have had the majority of the ball in the first half, but Newcastle have done more with it. They've exploited the gaps on the Gunners' right side and pressed Cech and the two centre-halves on the ball, and nobody in red and white looks comfortable playing out from the back. A slip from Mustafi and a stray pass out of play from Cech has been the product of their intensity so far, as well as a couple of half-chances that they've not been able to convert. Arsenal have occassionally played their clever combinations in forward areas, but the final ball has let them down, with Ramsey in particular guilty of a dreadful cross when played into a great position.
Newcastle will look to keep up their pressing game and hope to capitalise on a mistake or some poor defending by Arsenal, while the Gunners will need to improve at both ends of the pitch if they are to take all three points today. Their final ball needs to be more efficient, and they need to cut out the mistakes at the back too. Perhaps the introduction of Torreira would help to stabilise them in the second half.
And there's the full-time whistle! Arsenal record three successive victories and their first back-to-back away wins since May 2017, while it's four straight defeats in all competitions for Newcastle and a fourth 2-1 loss to a 'big six' club. The Magpies performed admirably in the first half, but Arsenal stepped it up in the second period following the introduction of Torreira, and Xhaka dispatched a powerful free-kick before Ozil's cool finish doubled the Gunners' lead. Clark grabbed a late headed consolation for the hosts, but it proved to be just that, and Arsenal held out at St James' Park. It finishes 2-1 to Arsenal!
Arsenal's next game is their opening Europa League group stage game against Vorskla Poltava on Thursday night, while Newcastle are in action again next Saturday when they travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.
That's all from us, thank you for joining our live commentary today on a great day for Arsenal.
