There will be at least four minutes of added time at San Siro. Inter win a free-kick that they work into the area - the loose ball falling to Eder - but his effort creeps wide.
90'
Icardi gets in behind Roma’s defence, but his touch forces him wide. Alisson is slightly off his line, so Icardi looks to lob it over Roma’s goalkeeper, but can only find the roof of the net.
89'
That goal had certainly been coming, and now Inter are full of confidence. Roma have sat far too deep in the last 10 minutes, and are now facing the consequences.
86'
M. Vecino has scored a goal for Inter Milan! Assist by M. Brozović.
It was brilliant from Brozovic, who engineered half-a-yard to loft in a precise cross and Vecino was on hand to head home.
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLL!! INTER ARE LEVEL! Vecino has his second Serie A goal for Inter to set up a grandstand finish at San Siro, as he latches onto Brozovic’s cross and plants a firm header past Alisson.
84'
P. Schick enters the game and replaces E. Džeko.
A final change for Roma, as Dzeko - in what could well be his final match for the visitors - makes way for Schick.
83'
Neat build-up play from Inter down the left creates some space for Vecino, but he drags his effort wide.
81'
Roma don’t look to have axiomatised to their change in system so far, and Eder’s introduction has certainly pushed them back, with Inter piling on the pressure. There’s almost a mix up from Alisson as he fails to judge a looping cross, but fortunately for Roma, the ball goes wide.
80'
WHAT A SAVE! Eder flicks a header towards Icardi, who despite scuffing it somewhat, still gets a powerful volley off, but Alisson dives low to his left to make a wonderful stop.
78'
CHANCE! Another huge opportunity goes begging for Inter as, from Cancelo’s superb cross, Eder - who had sprinted into Roma’s area unmarked - heads over from close range.
77'
Dalbert enters the game and replaces D. Santon.
Another change - this time for Inter. Davide Santon is replaced by Dalbert.
Minute
Description
75'
A second substitution for Roma, and another change in shape. Former Inter defender Juan Jesus is on, with goalscorer El Shaarawy going off, and the visitors will now play with a five-man defence.
74'
Juan Jesus enters the game and replaces S. El Shaarawy.
HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN!? Unbelievable! Roma are caught out at the back and Perisic takes full advantage by picking out Icardi at the back post. The striker adjusts himself brilliantly to connect with an acrobatic half-volley. It looks destined to nestle in the far corner, but Alisson manages to get a finger tip to it and parry the ball onto the upright and away from danger.
73'
That Roma change has resulted in a bit of a change in system as well. Florenzi has now cut inside to join Roma's midfield, with Peres taking up a position at right-back. As I type, the Brazilian needlessly gives away a corner, but Inter make nothing of it.
71'
Roma have also made a substitution, with Gerson making way for Bruno Peres.
70'
Bruno Peres enters the game and replaces Gerson.
Éder enters the game and replaces A. Candreva.
Eder is on for Inter, and straight away he is involved as he spins in behind Roma's defence and unleashes a first-time strike that Alisson saves at the near post.
68'
João Cancelo gets yellow.
NO PENALTY! Cancelo goes down in the area, with Fazio having dangled a leg. There may have been some slight contact, but not enough to warrant Cancelo going down as he did, and the referee books Inter's defender for simulation.
67'
Perisic again gets the better of Florenzi at the back post, but once again he can’t connect with his attempted header. Inter keep up the pressure, though, with Roma’s defence on the back foot. Cancelo eventually finds enough space to loft in a cross, but Icardi can’t direct his effort on target.
65'
Kolarov puts in another wonderful delivery from a corner, which Dzeko meets. The striker nudges the ball on towards Manolas, but the Greece defender can’t apply the finish.
63'
Candreva finds space on the edge of the area, unleashing a low strike that has Alisson scrambling. Roma's goalkeeper gets there, though, and does well to hold onto the ball with Icardi lingering.
61'
The San Siro crowd is growing increasingly frustrated now, as El Shaarawy stays down after a collision with Santon. Play goes on, though, with Fazio flicking Candreva’s cross wide for a corner.
58'
I. Perišić gets yellow.
Moments after just failing to connect with a header at the back post, Perisic picks up a booking for a late challenge on El Shaarawy, who was back helping out his defence.
56'
Inter are affording their visitors far too much time and space in possession, and simply aren’t moving the ball quickly enough when they have it. The fans haven’t turned against them just yet, but you can sense the frustration growing.
54'
CLOSE! Dzeko wins a header from a corner, but Miranda had just done enough to put Roma’s striker off.
51'
Inter must try to get more support to Icardi up top. Their skipper is willing to press Roma’s back line, but his teammates aren’t backing him up, and that is giving Roma plenty of space to play out from the back and open up gaps.
49'
Kolarov sends in a drilled delivery with his left-foot, but a combination of Icardi and Brozovic clear the danger for Inter.
48'
Clever play from Kolarov, who draws a clumsy foul deep in Inter’s territory, and Roma now have the chance to make something of this free-kick…
46'
M. Brozović enters the game and replaces R. Gagliardini.
Roma have got the second half up and running at San Siro. There has been one change at the interval, and as suggested Marcelo Brozovic is on for Inter. He has replaced Roberto Gagliardini.
43'
Brave, instinctive goalkeeping from Alisson, who is out quickly to prevent Icardi getting through after Inter’s captain had got away from Manolas.
41'
That will likely be an area Spalletti looks to change in the second half. He either needs to sacrifice one of his holding midfielders, allowing Valero to drop deeper and dictate the play, with perhaps Brozovic slotting in as an advanced playmaker. Or, the former Roma boss must instruct his full-back’s to bomb on and offer more of a threat going forward, though of course that leaves space for El Shaarawy and Nainggolan to exploit.
39'
Roma really have restricted Inter’s creative fulcrum of Valero, Gagliardini and Vecino to very little, with the visitors forwards and midfielders pressing extremely high, limiting the space for the hosts.
37'
Florenzi is adamant that Roma should have been awarded a penalty, here, after Miranda tugged on his shirt in the area. There was certainly a pull from Inter’s defender, but it did not seem enough for Florenzi to tumble down as he did.
34'
CHANCE! A strong reaction from Inter, as Icardi gets in one-on-one. He can’t quite get the ball out of his feet, though and - under pressure from the retreating Fazio - skews his effort off target.
32'
Well, Inter have caused their own troubles so far, and Roma’s opener came from a terrible mistake by Santon, who failed to deal with a long punt from Alisson. His flick back to Handanovic was a poor one, and El Shaarawy took full advantage.
31'
S. El Shaarawy has scored a goal for Roma!
GOOOOOOAAAALLL!! ROMA LEAD! Dreadful defending from Inter, as El Shaarawy races clear of Santon to latch onto a loose ball before lofting a neat finish over Handanovic.
30'
CLOSE! Roma respond with a well-worked counter following another error from Inter’s defence. The ball is eventually worked into Pellegrini, but he drags his effort wide.
29'
DOUBLE CHANCE! Perisic fools Florenzi with a neat turn in Roma’s area, before unleashing a close-range strike that Alisson manages to parry out, but only as far as Valero. His strike is blocked, however, and Alisson manages to gather in the loose ball.
28'
For the first time in their history, Roma could win both of their away league games against Milan and Inter for the second consecutive season. The visitors did start well, but Inter have come on strong in the last few minutes.
25'
That was certainly a tough call for the officials. Manolas seemed to push Icardi into Fazio, and the striker duly bounced to the ground, but at first it looked like nothing more than a coming together.
23'
Huge appeals for a penalty now as Icardi goes down under pressure from Fazio and Manolas, who may well have pushed Inter's skipper. The referee is up with the play and waves away the appeals, and it does not appear it will be reviewed using VAR, either.
22'
Kolarov finds space down the left and delivers a wonderful, whipped cross that has Inter’s defence all at sea. El Shaarawy, though, could not get onto the end of it.
21'
STAT - Inter have scored 155 goals in Serie A home games against Roma, more than against any other team.
18'
CLOSE! Great work from Cancelo down Inter’s right, as he gets past Gerson and delivers a brilliant cross to the back post. Perisic rises highest to meet it, but his header skims just wide.
17'
Candreva tries his luck with a powerful strike from around 25 yards out, but can’t keep his effort down and Alisson is able to watch it safely over.
15'
Calm, composed and strong defensive play from Miranda, who tracks Florenzi’s run before easily dispossessing the Roma man. Inter have certainly missed the former Atletico Madrid man during his absence in recent weeks.
13'
Both sides have started brightly, although Roma have certainly shaded it so far, with Inter just failing to find their rhythm.
10'
Perisic manages to square up Florenzi and cut inside Roma’s makeshift full-back, letting rip with a curling, dipping strike. Alisson’s starting position was a good one, though, and he holds onto it with ease.
8'
Inter try to play the ball out from the back but, under pressure from Roma’s high line, Handanovic gifts possession to Gerson 18 yards out. The midfielder under hits his pass, though, and Skriniar gets across to make a vital interception and deny Dzeko a clear shot at goal.
7'
Nainggolan looks well up for this game, and he does brilliantly to engineer some room down on the left flank before switching the play with a pinpoint diagonal. El Shaarawy picks it up before driving forwards and unleashing a shot, but it soars over.
5'
Half-a-chance for Inter at the other end, as Icardi swings a boot at the ball on the edge of the area. He fails to make contact, though, and Roma’s defence manage to get it clear.
4'
Brilliant pressing from Roma. First, Nainggolan robs Gagliardini of the ball before Dzeko pressurises Miranda into an error. The ex-Manchester City forward tees up El Shaarawy with a wonderful back heel, but the winger’s cross is well stopped by Handanovic.
3'
An early pause now, as Candreva receives treatment on the pitch following a tough challenge from Gerson. The Roma man won the ball, but did not hold back on taking out the former Lazio winger at the same time.
1'
KICK-OFF! Referee Davide Massa sounds his whistle, and proceedings are underway!
Hello and welcome football fans, to our live commentary of this Serie A clash between Inter and Roma at San Siro!
Only a matter of weeks ago, both of these sides were well within the title race, but now find themselves battling it out with Lazio for the two remaining Champions League spots - Napoli and Juventus having pulled clear at the top of Italy’s top flight.
After winning 12 of their first 15 matches, Inter are without a win in Serie A in their last five fixtures, while Roma have won just one of their last five in this competition.
Let’s catch up on the team sheets prior to kick-off…
It's a typical 4-2-3-1 from former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti, who welcomes his old side for the first time to the San Siro as Inter boss. Mauro Icardi will lead the line, with Ivan Perisic and Antonio Candreva tasked with offering support from the wings. New signing Lisandro Lopez is among the substitutes.
Roma substitutes: Juan Jesus, Schick, Moreno, Under, Lobont, Nura, Defrel, Bruno Peres, Skorupski, Emerson, Antonucci.
Roma (4-3-3): Alisson; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Pellegrini, Strootman, Nainggolan; Gerson, Dzeko, El Shaarawy.
There’s no place in Roma’s starting XI for Emerson Palmieri, with the full-back having been heavily linked with a switch to Chelsea in this transfer window. Edin Dzeko has also been mooted as a possible target for the Premier League champions, but he does lead the line for the visitors having netted 12 goals so far in all completions this campaign.
It's a scintillating atmosphere at San Siro, with both sides now making their way out onto the pitch with kick-off just moments away…
HALF TIME: Inter 0 Roma 1.
An enthralling first half at San Siro comes to a close, with El Shaarawy’s well-taken goal proving the difference between the sides so far. Roma have deserved their lead, although Inter have created some good chances.
Roma’s high-pressing game has caused havoc for Inter’s defence, however, and Spalletti must look to change it at half-time in order to get his more creative players on the ball.
Roma went too defensive in the closing stages, and Inter got the goal their domination deserved.
A share of the spoils from this one then, as both sides extend their winless streaks to six Serie A games respectively.
FULL TIME: Inter 1 Roma 1.
Until next time, thank you and goodbye!
It means that Roma remain three points behind Inter, who stay in fourth place, level with Lazio.
