Lang nearly produces the goods for Petretta at the far post but the winger is unable to get to his cross and Benfica clear for a corner. The ball from the left-hand side is easily cleared by Eliseu as he was left unchallenged.

25'
Some strong challenges going in between both sets of players and Benfica deserve credit for making a fight of this one. The referee may want to have a word with some if they continue to stop the flow of the game.
22'
This is much better from the Portuguese side as both Diogo Goncalves and Seferovic try their luck with efforts but both fire wide. Manchester United are still being held to a 0-0 draw by CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford and that result is good for Basel as it stands.
21'

The match is underway as Basel kick off.
Hello and welcome to tonight's live text commentary of Benfica vs Basel from the UEFA Champions League. Tonight's Group A contest sees two teams with different ambitions, with the visitors fighting to qualify for the knockout stages, while Benfica have only got pride to play for. The Portuguese giants will have home advantage in what promises to be a difficult encounter for them.
Benfica head into the contest in decent form after winning three of their last five matches and they produced a decent display to pick up a 0-0 draw in their last game against Porto. Rui Vitoria's men were expected to compete in Europe this season but they have lost all five of their games and cannot even qualify for the Europa League.
On the other hand, Basel are flying at the moment and they can still progress to the knockout stages of the competition this evening. Raphael Wicky's troops have won their last five matches and the confidence will be high after a 4-1 victory over Lusanne Sport last time out.
The other game in Group A sees Manchester United take on CSKA Moscow and Basel need to beat CSKA's result to progress. Nice and simple!
Benfica boss Vitoria has made nine changes to the team that drew with Porto. Valera, Almeida, Luisao, Grimaldo, Fejsa, Krovinovic, Salvio, Jonas and Cervi all drop out and they're replaced by Svilar, Douglas, Lopez, Eliseu, Carvalho, Samaris, Goncalves, Zivkovic and Seferovic.
Only two changes for Basel as Wicky tries to keep his team's momentum going. Out go Alvarez and Ajeti and they are replaced by Balanta and Oberlin. Not too long to go until kick-off now!
Both teams are now on the field of play at the Estadio du Sport and the Champions League anthem is being played so we are minutes away from the game getting underway.
HALF-TIME: Benfica 0-1 Basel.
Despite trailing at the break, Benfica have been the better team in this Champions League clash but their early error has cost them dearly. Basel scored a wonderful opening goal but they have since gone into their shell and it could cost them in the end.
Before half-time, CSKA Moscow scored away in Manchester and that now puts pressure on Basel in this contest. As it stands the Swiss outfit are going through but they will need to up their game in the second-half.
Full-Time - Benfica 0-2 Basel.
Basel book their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League after another win in Group A, but the scoreline suggests they enjoyed themselves in Portugal. For large parts they were outclassed but Benfica's performance in front of goal summed up why they finished without a single point.
The home side will need to regroup and make sure they qualify for next year's tournament, but Basel can go into the next round with plenty of confidence. Wicky's troops have heart, talent and they will go into most games as underdogs.
Thanks for joining us tonight, that is all from this Group A contest. Goodnight!
