We're underway at Wembley.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Tottenham and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.
Both teams come into the contest off the back of impressive performances during the week in the Champions League. Tottenham held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu, while Liverpool put seven goals past Maribor on the road. As a result, both sides should not be short on confidence this afternoon.
Since their defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the second game of the season, Spurs have gone six matches unbeaten in the Premier League. However, their most important win came last time out against Bournemouth as Mauricio Pochettino's men ended their struggles at Wembley, securing their first home victory of the campaign.
Liverpool were frustrated by Manchester United in their last Premier League outing, drawing 0-0 against the Red Devils at Anfield. Since hammering Arsenal 4-0 at the end of August, Jurgen Klopp's men have only won one out of their last five matches, with a positive result a must this afternoon to remain with the early pacesetters.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Liverpool subs: Karius, Sturridge, Grujic, Klavan, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Solanke, Alexander-Arnold.
Spurs have made three changes to their side that drew 1-1 against Real Madrid. Dele Alli comes back into the fold to replace Moussa Sissoko, while Son-Heung Min comes in for Fernando Llorente. Eric Dier was ill on Friday and has to start from the bench, with Kieran Trippier coming into the side to play left wing-back as Jan Vertonghen reverts back into the centre.
Liverpool have made two changes to the team that hammered Maribor during the week. Simon Mignolet reclaims his place between the sticks, while Jordan Henderson replaces Georginio Wijnaldum.
FLASHBACK! Liverpool claimed a 1-1 draw in their final visit to White Hart Lane. James Milner's penalty had put the Reds ahead, only for Danny Rose to equalise in the second half to secure a point for the home side.
STAT ATTACK! Spurs are winless in their last nine Premier League games against Liverpool, losing six of the contests.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
HALF-TIME: TOTTENHAM 3-1 LIVERPOOL
Tottenham have regained control of the contest after a frenetic first half at Wembley. Spurs were outstanding in the early stages of the contest, racing into a 2-0 lead as Harry Kane and Son Heung-min found the net. Son could have added a third, only to be denied by the bar. The Reds stunned the home side by breaking back into the game as Mohamed Salah scuffed his effort past Hugo Lloris. Jurgen Klopp's men were on top for a period, but Tottenham upped the ante before the break and Dele Alli's fine strike has restored their two-goal advantage, leaving them in a strong positon.
The plauers are back out for the second half, so we should be back underway soon.
FULL-TIME: TOTTENHAM 4-1 LIVERPOOL
Tottenham secure their first win over Liverpool in nine attempts and they join Manchester United in second place on 20 points. Harry Kane's brace has guided them to the victory this afternoon, while strikes from Son Heung-min and Dele Alli were just as important. Mohamed Salah's effort in the first half did give the Reds hope at 2-1, but Alli's goal before the break effectively killed off the contest.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
