We're underway at Hampden Park.
This is a huge match for Scotland and Slovakia in their bid to qualify for the World Cup next year. Only a point separates the two sides in the battle for second place, with so much hinging on this contest for both teams.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the World Cup qualifying clash between Scotland and Slovakia at Hampden Park.
Slovakia can secure second spot in the group and a decent seed in the play-off round with a win tonight. Jan Kozak's men were beaten last time out by England, but did put in a spirited performance at Wembley. A similar outing this time around could yield the three points they desperately crave.
Scotland were extremely impressive in the last round of fixtures. Strachan's side brushed aside Lithuania on the road, while they then defeated in Malta on home soil. They will need the Tartan Army in full voice this evening.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Scotland were dealt a blow when Celtic duo Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong were ruled out of the contest, with hamstring and calf injuries respectively. James Morrison, and Darren Fletcher replace them in the side, while Barry Bannan comes into the fold for James McArthur.
Slovakia have made two changes from their side that were beaten last time out by England. Juraj Kucka and Jan Gregus come into the side to replace Vladimir Weiss and Milan Skriniar, who drop to the bench.
FLASHBACK! Slovakia defeated Scotland 3-0 in their meeting last year as a brace from Robert Mak and a strike from Adam Nemec secured the comfortable win.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
HALF-TIME: SCOTLAND 0-0 SLOVAKIA
It's goalless at the break between Scotland and Slovakia at Hampden Park. The visitors have been reduced to 10 men after Robert Mak was dismissed for two bookable offences, the second of which was a dive in the box. Gordon Strachan's men have come close to breaking the deadlock, but Christophe Berra and Leigh Griffiths were both denied by Martin Dubravka. Scotland need to force the issue in the second half and with a numerical advantage they can attack in numbers.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: SCOTLAND 1-0 SLOVAKIA
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
WHAT A RESULT FOR SCOTLAND! Gordon Strachan's men keep their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup alive as Martin Skrtel's own goal in the 88th minute decides the contest. The battle for second place in now in the hands of Strachan and his team ahead of the final match of qualifying against Slovenia. Slovakia battled manfully this evening, despite being reduced to 10 men in the first half when Robert Mak was dismissed. They still have an excellent chance of beating out Scotland for second place if they beat Malta at home in their final match. It's still all to play for in Group F in the race for second.
A victory for Gordon Strachan's men would take them above Slovakia and potentially Slovenia if England defeat them in the other Group F match this evening. That would put Scotland's fate in their own hands for the final match next week in Ljubljana. Therefore it's essential that Scotland take care of business tonight.
