Picture-perfect cross from Alves who provides the assist.
FANCY A THIRD? Paulinho completes his hat-trick and Brazil players and subs alike are queuing up to join the celebration as he guides home a cross from Dani Alves with his chest! The goal was gaping - there was no way he could miss it!

86'
Willian enters the game and replaces Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho gives way for Willian as the clock winds down on the match.
84'
Time running out on Uruguay here. Assuming this result holds, the 30 points Brazil would have would essentially book their place in Russia 2018. A night to cherish for the Seleccao in Montevideo.
82'
Fernandinho enters the game and replaces Renato Augusto.
Renato's night is done and dusted as he becomes the first player to be withdrawn for Brazil, with Fernandinho taking his place.
81'
Acres of space being afforded to Brazil on the counter, should they be able to get the ball forward. They have nearly everyone behind the ball, however, as Uruguay begin to attack with reckless abandon.
79'
CLOSE! A vital deflection on the way through takes that effort from Vecino narrowly wide of the near post! If Uruguay are to have any hope of salvaging something, they need to score fast.
77'
A. Hernández enters the game and replaces C. Sánchez.
Uruguay's second change sees the arrival of another striker, Abel Hernandez, who replaces Sanchez.

76'
STAT: In Montevideo, Uruguay had outscored their opponents 16-1 in World Cup qualifying matches this campaign (before today).
74'
Neymar has scored a goal for Brazil! Assist by Miranda.
Miranda picks up the assist, but he didn't know much about it when he hooved the ball upfield.
SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED! Three points for Brazil surely now, and it's Neymar who applies the finishing touches. The forward sprints onto the end of Miranda's long clearance, blowing by Coates before brilliantly floating a chip over the head of Silva and into the back of the net.
72'
Not even close! The angle seems a bit too tight for Neymar, so he opts to play it short, teeing up Marcelo on that deadly left foot of his, but the full-back gets it all wrong, skying his effort from 18 yards.
71'
S. Coates gets yellow.
Coates goes into the book as he tugs back on the shirt of Neymar, on the left edge of the penalty area, following another terrific run from the Barcelona winger.
69'
Brazil are trying to suck the tempo out of the match with some lethargic passing in possession. They've spent the bulk of the last 10 minutes in their own end and are in need of some respite here. They need a more reliable link between midfield and attack.
67'
Uruguay have plenty of fighting spirit about them as they force the issue and press relentlessly for an equaliser. Brazil have been on a steady decline over the last 10 minutes and may need an injection of fresh legs off the bench to provide them with a bit of energy once again.
65'
D. Godín gets yellow.
Hard foul from Godin, who goes into the back of his opponent while trying to keep Brazil hemmed in their end, and he sees yellow for his troubles.
64'
STAT: Uruguay have won eight successive World Cup qualifying matches on home soil and are unbeaten in their last 14 (W11, D3).
62'
SMART SAVE! Strong hands from Alisson who does really well to get down and parry Cavani's free-kick! They get a second chance in quick succession from the ensuing corner, but Stuani sends his free-header straight at Alisson from point-blank range!
61'
Dani Alves gets yellow.
Bookings starting to pile up now as Dani Alves becomes the third Brazilian player to see yellow as he trips up Gaston Silva just outside the area! Another great chance forthcoming for Uruguay from the free-kick.
58'
C. Stuani enters the game and replaces D. Rolán.
Before the free-kick is taken, Uruguay bring on Middlesbrough forward Cristhian Stuani, with Rolan the one to give way.
57'
Marcelo gets yellow.
Marcelo into the book! That has been some time coming for the full-back. He arrives late and takes out Cavani, who had got on the end of a throughball. It's a yellow card, but a good foul for Marcelo to take.
56'
After such a bright start to the game, Uruguay have failed to capitalise on their chances and now have to come from behind, having been in front inside of 10 minutes. They've given every indication to believe they can turn this around, but they have to be more clinical in front of goal.
54'
STAT: Brazil have won six successive World Cup qualifying matches and are unbeaten in their last 11 (W8, D3).
52'
Paulinho has scored a goal for Brazil!
PAULINHO HAS HIS SECOND! A terrific save initially from Silva to get down and deny Firmino after a good turn and shot, but Uruguay's defence lets Paulinho walk right in and bundle home the rebound!
50'
Marcelo looks to have avoided any serious injury after a very awkward fall following a foul from Sanchez. Brazil are struggling to pass their way out of their own end here, as they start to get hemmed in a bit at the back. Finally they find a way out through Neymar, of course, and he goes all the way before winning a free-kick high up the pitch.
48'
Uruguay come out of the gate with more energy, pushing the tempo as they get look to retake the lead. They win another free-kick on the right, but this time Brazil do a much better job of clearing their lines.
46'
Back underway!
45' +1
HALF-TIME: URUGUAY 1-1 BRAZIL.
45'
Casemiro gets yellow.
Casemiro picks up Brazil's first yellow card for a cynical foul on Sanchez.
43'
Back and forth these sides go, searching for a lead before the interval. With both nations relatively secure in terms of their positioning in qualifying, they can afford to really have a go at it here.
41'
STAT: Uruguay’s last victory over Brazil on home soil came in 2001, a 1-0 triumph in World Cup qualifying.
39'
WIDE AGAIN! Brazil's defence has no answer for these Uruguay set pieces! Cavani makes a run in from the centre to get on the end of the corner, but he can't direct his header in at the near corner!
37'
WHAT A CHANCE! Rolan bends a delicious free-kick in from the right flank and it meets the head of Vecino, but the midfielder steers his effort wide of the far post! Good response though for Uruguay - that should provide a confidence boost.
35'
M. Pereira gets yellow.
Uruguay are letting momentum slip a fair bit here, as Brazil continue in the ascendency. The visitors are looking in control now and threatening to score the game's third goal with 10 minutes to go before the break.
Maxi Pereira becomes the first player booked on the night.
33'
AGONISINGLY WIDE! Neymar's free-kick is straight into the wall, but the follow-up comes for Alves, who sends a wonderfully improvised chip over the top to Casemiro. The midfielder's effort is stopped by Silva, before the rebound bounces off Pereira and trickles just wide! That would have been a rather unfortunate own goal.
31'
Free-kick to Brazil in a dangerous area as Coates trips up Neymar on the edge of the box, after a delicately smooth run from Neymar, which saw him glide past a handful of Uruguay defenders. Can Brazil make this count?
29'
Brazil have slowed the tempo as they knock the ball around in midfield, adopting a more patient approach in possession. They're a bit sloppy on the ball, however, and Uruguay have plenty of spring in their step as they press high up, waiting for a mistake.
27'
Cavani's work ethic has been top notch. He doesn't know the meaning of a lost cause, the striker, running with a look of determination as he tries to get onto every ball played in his general vicinity. It's proving a real handful for the Brazil defence.
25'
These opening 25 minutes have been an absolute delight in Montevideo. Brazil have responded well to going behind from Cavani's early penalty, as the game remains wonderfully open with both sides keen to attack. There's a lovely tempo about this match.
23'
DECENT EFFORT! Uruguay threaten from a set-piece, as Brazil's defence continues to be a bit suspect in the air. Godin gets on the end of it at the far post, but Alisson does well to cover the angle and make the save.
21'
STAT: Brazil have 27 points. Since CONMEBOL switched to the current format of qualifying in the build-up to the 1998 World Cup, just one team has failed to qualify while accruing 27 points or more (Colombia in 2002).
19'
Paulinho has scored a goal for Brazil! Assist by Neymar.
Neymar provides the assist. He's been dangerous tonight.
BRAZIL HIT BACK INCREDIBLY! Sanchez loses possession in midfield and Neymar pounces before picking out Paulinho. The ex-Tottenham midfielder knocks his first touch forward before powering a lightning bolt past Silva from 25 yards to restore parity in Montevideo!
17'
Shouts for a foul from both sides as Cavani and Dani Alves clash to get on the end of a long ball over the top from Rolan. The referee waves play on, but the replays show it was Cavani who was indeed the culprit, getting his hand high and into the face of the Brazil right-back.
15'
Nothing comes of the free-kick for Uruguay, but Brazil are very much on their heels. The hosts are looking inspired every time they attack, more than able to pick apart openings in the Brazil defense. Tite needs to get his side organised.
13'
Miranda is in trouble now as he clearly blocks the path of Sanchez after having the ball played through his legs. It's a foul and a free-kick for Uruguay on the right flank, but no booking for the centre-half.
11'
STAT: Edinson Cavani has scored eight goals in his last nine World Cup qualifying matches on home soil for Uruguay (including tonight).
9'
Penalty goal scored by E. Cavani for Uruguay!
CAVANI BURRIES IT! An emphatic penalty by the PSG striker, who drills an effort into the bottom corner before Alisson could even start getting across! Terrific from Cavani and a dream start from PSG.
8'
PENALTY TO URUGUAY! Marcelo's horrid back-pass is pounced upon by Cavani, who arrives to poke the ball free just ahead of Alisson's arrival, before being taken to ground! Referee points straight to the spot, no doubt about that one.
7'
DECENT LOOK! A long throw is only partially dealt with by Brazil, and the clearance falls to Vecino at the edge of the box for the volley. He strikes an effort with plenty of venom, but it never does threaten the goal in the end as it's belted well wide of the near post.
5'
HE SHOULD BE SCORING! First chance of the game falls to Brazil as Neymar picks out Coutinho at the end of a strong, surging run. The Liverpool attacker finds his club team-mate Firmino with a low cross through the legs of Coates, but he gets his footing all wrong and fails to turn it in from in close!
3'
A contingent of Brazil supporters have made the trip, but this is a very much pro-Uruguay crowd tonight in Montevideo, as should be expected. The home support has been roaring since the get go, and it's lifted their side to an energetic start.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Brazil get us underway in their yellow tops, attacking left to right, with Brazil in light blue.
Hello and welcome to live coverage from the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo for live coverage of this South American World Cup qualifier as first-place Brazil visit second-place Uruguay!
If history does indeed repeat itself, then Brazil should be fairly confident that their current point-haul of 27 is already enough to book their place in the 2018 World Cup – and Uruguay are not far behind them with 23.
That being said, it is awfully congested in the four spots behind these two nations, with just two points separating third and sixth, so while both Brazil and Uruguay look poised to qualify for Russia 2018, nothing will be taken from granted just yet.
There’s still six games to go in qualifying, and while both nations would like to finish the campaign strong, it’s safe to say that just one more win for Brazil, and two for Uruguay, would be enough to take these sides through to international football’s most prestigious competition.
One of these sides will take a big step towards Russia 2018 with a victory tonight, which would also help pull them away from the trailing pack and avoid what could be a tense finish to the qualifying campaign in a confederation where nothing comes easy.
URUGUAY (4-4-2): M. Silva; M. Pereira, Coates, Godin, G. Silva; Sanchez, Vecino, Arevalo, Rodriguez; Cavani, Rolan.
Oscar Tabarez makes three changes from the defeat in Chile in the last round. Diego Rolan come into attack, partnering Edinson Cavani, to replace the suspended Luis Suarez, while Martin Silva and Cristian Rodriguez get the nod ahead of Fernando Muslera and Alvaro Gonzalez.
Tite makes three changes to his side from the victory in Peru on the last matchday. Injured striker Gabriel Jesus is replaces by Roberto Firmino, while Real Madrid duo Marcelo and Casemiro come into the team at the expense of Filipe Luis and Fernandinho.
Uruguay took the lead inside 10 minutes with Edinson Cavani's spot-kick, but Brazil responded through Paulinho's stunning hit, as the sides head level into the break at the end of an entertaining first half in Montevideo that suggests there's more goals to come in the second half.
Brazil all but secure their place in Russia 2018 as a Paulinho hat-trick sees them come from behind in Montevideo to become the first team in CONMEBOL qualifying to reach 30 points on the campaign. That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
