The pace of the game has slowed down somewhat, allowing Dortmund to comfortably hold onto the ball inside the Ingolstadt half of the pitch as they aim to run down the clock. The visitors have performed well but just couldn't hold on for long enough, allowing Aubameyang to punish them as they began to tire.
88'
A. Cohen enters the game and replaces D. Lezcano.
Ingolstadt have made their final substitution of the afternoon, with Lezcano, who impressed on his first start, making way for Cohen for the final few minutes.
86'
P. Aubameyang has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by G. Castro.
That was a lovely pick-out by Castro, who timed his well-weighted throughball to perfection to find Aubameyang in space inside the penalty area.
GOAL! Aubameyang strikes again! Castro picks up the ball on the edge of the Ingolstadt penalty area and immediately taps a lovely throughball into the path of the Gabonese forward. He darts into the box and takes a quick touch before firing a wonderful low strike past Ozcan and into the bottom right-hand corner of the net, surely completing the victory in the process.
84'
R. Brégerie enters the game and replaces M. Leckie.
Ingolstadt have made their second change, with Leckie making way for Bregerie.
83'
Dortmund smell blood as they continue to push hard in search of a second goal that will surely wrap up the win. Pulisic has impressed since coming on and is finding plenty of joy down the left wing, but Ingolstadt are just about managing to hold on.
82'
Crucial interception by Morales! Ingolstadt are pushing hard for an equaliser, resulting in there being acres of space available inside their half of the pitch. Durm takes advantage of it by flying forward on an excellent run, but his attempted pass over to Aubameyang is cut out by the aforementioned American at the vital moment.
81'
H. Mkhitaryan gets yellow.
Mkhitaryan flies into Da Costa with his studs showing and catches the right-back on the ankle, resulting in the Armenian being shown a yellow card.
79'
There's a break in play as the Ingolstadt players argue with the referee. They believe that Aubameyang was offside as Piszczek's cross was fired into the penalty area, and from the replays it looks as if they may have a case. The referee isn't interested, however, and the goal stands.
77'
P. Aubameyang has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by Ł. Piszczek.
That was a wonderful cross by Piszczek, who picked out Aubameyang with a perfect pass. However, the replays indicate that Aubameyang might have been a yard or so offside, which has resulted in the Ingolstadt players arguing furiously with the referee and linesman.
GOAL! Dortmund have finally taken the lead! Piszczek charges down the right flank on a great run before curling an even better cross into the middle of the Ingolstadt penalty area. It finds Aubameyang, who does wonderfully well to find the space left in between Matip and Da Costa before beating Ozcan with an excellent close-range header. Tuchel looks mightily relieved, and it's no wonder why!
75'
A. Morales gets yellow.
Morales denies Piszczek the opportunity to take a quick throw-in and is shown a yellow card by the referee. With Dortmund trying their hardest to push forward quickly, Ingolstadt are attempting to slow down the game as often as possible.
Minute
Description
73'
There's a feeling of frustration and nervousness inside the Westfalenstadion as we near the final 15 minutes of the game. Dortmund are trying their hardest to find that opening goal that they crave so badly but are still lacking that spark needed in the final third of the pitch. Ingolstadt now have a plethora of bodies camped behind the ball as they try to keep hold of what would be an excellent clean sheet.
71'
Ł. Piszczek gets yellow.
S. Lex enters the game and replaces M. Hartmann.
Lex is immediately involved in the action as his run down the left wing is brought to a painful end by Piszczek, who is awarded a yellow card as a result. The resulting free-kick is fired towards the far post, where Burki misses the ball completely with an unconvincing save but ends up being able to watch the cross-cum-shot fly just wide of his goal, much to his relief.
70'
Ingolstadt have also made an alteration, with Lex coming on to replace Hartmann.
69'
Dortmund have made their final change of the afternoon, with Ramos making way for American teenager Pulisic.
68'
C. Pulišić enters the game and replaces A. Ramos.
And now Hummels almost scores at the other end of the pitch! Dortmund earn themselves a corner on the left flank, which is curled into the heart of the Ingolstadt penalty area. It finds the head of the centre-back, who rises high and sends a flying effort past Ozcan and just wide of the far post.
67'
Controversy inside the Dortmund half of the pitch! Under pressure from Lezcano, Hummels ends up spinning and sending an awful attempted back pass over the head of Burki and into the back of the net, sending the Westfalenstadion into shocked silence. However, the referee quickly brings Ingolstadt's celebrations to an end after claiming that the centre-back had been fouled by the Paraguayan striker, even though the challenge seemed to occur at least a second or two after the ball had been kicked. That is sure to be a huge talking point after the game has finished!
65'
Great goalkeeping by Ozcan! Morales is caught sleeping on the ball, allowing Mkhitaryan to pick his pocket on the edge of the Ingolstadt penalty area. The Armenian quickly tees up Leitner, who then sends a thumping cross-cum-shot towards the near post, but the Austrian goalkeeper is there to deal with the youngster's effort.
63'
And now Da Costa is clumsily fouled midway inside the Dortmund half of the pitch, resulting in another free-kick in a similar position to the one just two minutes ago. This time, Christiansen sends the set-piece bouncing into the penalty area, but it misses two Ingolstadt players before being thumped away by Piszczek.
61'
S. Papastathopoulos gets yellow.
Sokratis, who hasn't looked completely convincing today, drags Hartmann to the ground, resulting in a free-kick for Ingolstadt and a yellow card for the Greek defender. The set-piece is flung into the middle of the box, but Ginter is there to deal with the danger with a strong headed clearance.
60'
It just isn't working for Dortmund, who, no matter what they try and do, just can't seem to find a way through Ingolstadt's resolute defence. They're also starting to look increasingly sloppy on the ball, which is making life easy for the visitors whilst also allowing them opportunities to break away on quick counter-attacks.
58'
High pressing from Ingolstadt forces Dortmund into losing the ball just inside their own half of the pitch, allowing the visitors to break away on a quick counter-attack. Hartmann quickly picks out Lezcano with a well-placed pass before the Paraguayan tries to beat Ginter, but he's dispossessed well by the 22-year-old, who wins back possession at the vital moment.
56'
Chance for Aubameyang! Straight from the restart, Dortmund break down the left wing, with Mkhitaryan playing an important role in the attacking move. The Armenian swings a dangerous cross into the box, where Christiansen deflects the ball into the path of the Gabonese forward, but his first-time, close-range shot ends up bouncing straight into the hands of Ozcan.
55'
G. Castro enters the game and replaces S. Kagawa.
M. Leitner enters the game and replaces J. Weigl.
And the second is Castro, who takes the place of Kagawa.
Tuchel clearly isn't happy with what he's seen so far, and he has decided to make a double substitution. The first player to come on is Leitner, who replaces Weigl.
53'
Dortmund keep pushing down the right wing, this time through Piszczek, who charges forward before trying to pick out Aubameyang with a curling low cross. It's well hit by the full-back but is cut out by Matip, who throws his body in front of the ball to stop it from finding the forward.
51'
Aubameyang drifts out to the right flank and picks up the ball in space before charging towards the byline. He beats one player before trying to find a way past Christiansen, but the midfielder dispossesses the Gabonese forward with a wonderful sliding tackle at the vital moment.
49'
Now Hartmann tries his luck from 25 yards out after finding himself left in a pocket of space by the Dortmund defenders, but his low strike is poorly hit and is easily dealt with by Burki in the middle of the goal.
48'
After enjoying a good start to the second half, Morales finds himself in a dangerous position just outside of the Dortmund penalty area and decides to try and test Burki. However, the American's curling strike has too much power behind it and ends up looping over the top of the crossbar.
46'
And we're underway once again!
45'
Mkhitaryan is bundled over by a clumsy challenge from Roger, resulting in a free-kick for Dortmund in a dangerous position 30 yards away from the Ingolstadt goal. It's sent towards the top right-hand corner of the net by the Armenian but it's tipped over by Ozcan, and the following corner is dealt with well by the visitors. The ball eventually finds its way over to Aubameyang, however, but the forward is unable to find the back of the net with his curling strike from the left-hand side of the box.
44'
Aubameyang! Mkhitaryan cuts inside from the left wing before sending a looping cross over to the far post, where it finds the Gabonese forward. He meets it well and quickly unleashes a close-range volley, but his strike deflects off the thigh of Bauer and into the hands of Ozcan.
42'
A poor pass from Sokratis sends the ball straight to Hartmann, who quickly flies forward on a swift counter-attack. The winger darts towards the edge of the Dortmund penalty area and tees up Morales, who then unleashes a curling shot from 20 yards out, but it's sent too near to Burki and the goalkeeper is easily able to save the strike as a result.
40'
Chance for Kagawa! Ramos bursts down the right wing on a great run before curling a low cross towards Aubameyang that's thumped out for a throw-in by Matip. It's taken quickly and worked over to Ginter, who then pokes a lovely through-ball into the path of the aforementioned Japan international, but his shot from just inside the Ingolstadt box is pushed away by Ozcan before the linesman's flag is raised for offside.
38'
Ingolstadt will be thoroughly pleased with how they have performed thus far. They have continually frustrated Dortmund, who are finding it difficult to hold onto possession for lengthy periods of time and, as a result, have struggled to involve Aubameyang in the game, resulting in the forward having a very quiet afternoon thus far.
36'
A thumping clearance from Sokratis looks set to find Mkhitaryan just outside of the Ingolstadt penalty area, but Matip does well to dart across the edge of his own box before cutting out the Greek defender's pass with a strong header.
34'
What a miss by Ramos! Durm cuts inside from the left flank and sends a brilliant low cross flying into the middle of the Ingolstadt box. Aubameyang meets it well and forces Ozcan into making an excellent diving save with his poked volley, but the Colombian striker can only send his follow-up header flying over the top of the crossbar from close range.
32'
After spending the vast majority of the game on the back foot, Ingolstadt are now enjoying themselves inside the Dortmund half of the pitch. The hosts have taken their foot off the pedal slightly but are still leaving gaps at the back, where Lezcano is looking increasingly dangerous whenever he's able to get on the ball.
30'
What a chance for Lezcano! A thumping pass from Ozcan flies over the top of the Dortmund defence and into the path of the Ingolstadt striker, who breaks towards the edge of the hosts' penalty area. He chips the ball over the head of Burki before heading towards goal, but Piszczek does wonderfully well to fly back and dispossess the Paraguayan just as he's about to thump the ball into the back of an empty net.
28'
J. Weigl gets yellow.
Roger loses the ball in the middle of the pitch, allowing Dortmund to break away on a quick counter-attack down the right wing. Piszczek flies forward before trying to pick out Ramos with a low cross, but the Colombian completely misses the ball and allows Ingolstadt to pick up possession once again. The aforementioned Brazilian then tries to charge forward through the middle of the pitch, but he's quickly pulled back by Weigl, who receives a yellow card as a result.
26'
R. Bauer gets yellow.
Bauer and Ramos clash once again, and this time the left-back receives a yellow card for a cynical shirt pull. The resulting free-kick is sent towards the far post by Mkhitaryan, but the Armenian's attempted cross is overhit and sails out of play for a goal kick.
25'
It's been a somewhat sloppy few minutes, with both sides misplacing passes when in dangerous positions of the pitch. Dortmund have been the main offenders, and Tuchel doesn't look at all happy with his team's performance thus far.
23'
Ingolstadt do well to pressurise the Dortmund midfield, resulting in the visitors winning the ball back near to the halfway line. Hartmann spins quickly and spots the run of Da Costa, whom he tries to pick out with a lofted pass down the right wing, but it's poorly hit and ends up bouncing out of play for a throw-in.
21'
The ball bounces around just inside the Ingolstadt half of the pitch, with no player able to bring it down. It eventually falls to Aubameyang, who then tries to poke a deft through-ball into the path of Ramos, but the Colombian's run is slightly mistimed and the linesman's flag is quickly raised as a result.
19'
Once again, Leckie's skill on the ball results in him being fouled on the left wing, and Ingolstadt are awarded another free-kick. This time Bauer sends it slightly deeper than before, but it fails to find a blue shirt inside the Dortmund box and is instead cut out by Hummels near to the penalty spot.
17'
And now Sokratis goes close! Durm is bundled over whilst attempting to charge down the left wing, resulting in a free-kick for Dortmund in a dangerous position. It's curled into the heart of the Ingolstadt penalty area, where it finds the head of the Greek defender, but his backwards header ends up looping just a yard or two over the top of the crossbar.
15'
Chance for Lezcano! Another Dortmund attacking move breaks down, allowing Ingolstadt to fly forward on a quick counter-attack. The Paraguayan striker flies towards the edge of the hosts' penalty area before unleashing a thumping, 25-yard strike, but Burki does well to get down low and parry it away with a strong diving save.
14'
Bauer is caught sleeping on the ball and ends up having his pocket picked by Ramos, who then charges past the left-back before being cynically dragged down. The referee awards Dortmund a free-kick, which they take quickly and send short to Mkhitaryan, but the Armenian completely scuffs his attempted cross and sends it trickling into the feet of Hubner.
12'
Great tackle by Hummels! A poor pass from Weigl is sent straight into the feet of Roger, who then blasts a quick ball up towards Lezcano. The striker controls it well and spins before going one-on-one with the Dortmund centre-back, but he stands tall and denies the Paraguayan the opportunity to break through on goal.
10'
After a slow start to the game, Dortmund are now firmly on the front foot as they continuously swarm into the Ingolstadt half of the pitch. However, the visitors look extremely well organised and are doing well to keep the determined hosts at bay.
8'
Mkhitaryan twists and turns on the left flank before cutting inside and sending a brilliant cross over to Ramos, who is in acres of space near the far post, but the Colombian's first touch is poor and his cross-cum-shot ends up trickling harmlessly wide of the Ingolstadt goal.
6'
Sokratis flies into Leckie and brings the Australian winger crashing to the ground, resulting in a free-kick for Ingolstadt midway down the left wing. The set-piece is flung towards the edge of the Dortmund penalty area, where it finds Morales, but the midfielder's flicked header fails to beat Burki and ends up bouncing into the goalkeeper's hands.
5'
The ball bounces around aimlessly midway inside the Dortmund half of the pitch before Lezcano picks it up and charges down the left flank. The striker tries to take on Piszczek but is unable to find a way past the right-back, who does well to shepherd the ball out of play for a goal kick.
4'
It's been an even start to the game, with both sides finding it difficult to stay in possession for lengthy periods of time. As expected, Ingolstadt have started in well-organised fashion, and they are doing well to pressurise Dortmund and force the hosts into making mistakes.
2'
An early foul by Ramos results in a free-kick for Ingolstadt midway inside their own half of the pitch. Ozcan quickly spots the run of Leckie down the left wing and immediately sends a lofted pass up towards the Australian, but the winger ends up straying slightly offside and, as a result, the linesman's flag is swiftly raised.
1'
And we're off! Ingolstadt get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Bundesliga game between Borussia Dortmund and Ingolstadt at the Westfalenstadion.
Dortmund made sure that they started the new year in the best way possible by beating fourth-place Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 in an impressive display at Stadion im Borussia-Park, and the win means that they remain eight points behind leaders Bayern Munich, a gap that will be hard to close but nonetheless one that Thomas Tuchel’s side will believe is possible if they are able to continue their good form over the course of the second half of the season. Their impressive home form will play an important role in their chase for the title, as they head into this afternoon’s clash with 11 victories from their last 12 league games at the Westfalenstadion.
Ingolstadt are thoroughly enjoying themselves in their maiden Bundesliga season, and they head to North Rhine-Westphalia in a very respectable 10th place after impressing during the first half of the campaign. Like Dortmund, today’s visitors also won their first league game of 2016 - a 1-0 victory at home to Mainz seven days ago - and it brought to an end a difficult run towards the end of last year. After enjoying a bright start to the season, the Schanzer managed to win just one of their final nine league games, and five of those clashes ended in defeats. Nonetheless, Ralph Hussenhüttl’s men will be thoroughly pleased with how they have played thus far, and, whilst today’s game is guaranteed to be a tough one, they will no doubt try to channel that positivity into another impressive performance this afternoon.
Ingolstadt XI (4-3-3): Ozcan; Da Costa, Matip, Hubner, Bauer; Christiansen, Roger, Morales; Hartmann, Lezcano, Leckie.
Borussia Dortmund substitutes: Weidenfeller, Subotic, Schmelzer, Park, Pulisic, Leitner, Castro.
Thomas Tuchel has decided to make three changes to the Dortmund side that started the aforementioned win against Borussia Monchengladbach, with Erik Durm, Matthias Ginter and Adrian Ramos coming into the starting line-up to replace Joo-Ho Park, Ilkay Gundogan and Marco Reus. The latter two are both unavailable due to a virus, meaning that there are places on the substitutes’ bench for fringe players Moritz Leitner and Christian Pulisic.
Meanwhile, Ingolstadt boss Ralph Hussenhüttl has made just two alterations to the side that narrowly beat Mainz last weekend, with Pascal Gross and Elias Kachunga making way for Max Christiansen and Dario Lezcano, the latter of whom is set to make his first start for the club since joining from Luzern.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 0-0 INGOLSTADT
It's been a frustrating opening 45 minutes for Dortmund, who have found it difficult to find a way past a wonderfully well-organised Ingolstadt side. The visitors have sat deep and defended resolutely against the hosts, resulting in Mkhitaryan, Ramos and, in particular, Ramos having a tough time in front of goal. Tuchel's side will have to up the intensity in the second half if they are to find the back of the net, whilst Hasenhuttl will have to hope that his will be able to continue finding joy whenever breaking away on quick counter-attacks.
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: BORUSSIA DORTMUND 2-0 INGOLSTADT
Once again, Aubameyang pops up and saves Dortmund with two late goals, breaking Ingolstadt hearts in the process. The visitors defended well throughout and made life extremely difficult for the hosts, but in the end they just couldn't contain the Gabonese forward for long enough, and he made them pay with what was arguably his first real chance of the game. As soon as the first goal went in, Tuchel's team seemed to transform into the side that have impressed so often this season, and from then onwards it was plain sailing for them as they comfortably wrapped up yet another victory.
The win closes the gap between Dortmund and Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, who are in action tomorrow afternoon, to five points, whilst Ingolstadt's defeat keeps them in 10th place but could see them drop to 11th if Hamburg beat Stuttgart later today.
