The referee blows his whistle and Arsenal have done it.
90' +4
Arsenal are nearly there. This result doesn't make up for their worst start to a league season since the 1980s but they will be hoping it is a step in the right direction.
90' +2
GOOD REFLEXES FROM MARTINEZ! Dortmund force one of their last chances as they loft the ball forward and it eventually breaks for Ramos whose snap shot is saved by the legs of the Arsenal keeper.
90'
J. Campbell enters the game and replaces A. Oxlade-Chamberlain.
We're going to have four minutes of added time at the Emirates.
Elsewhere, Ludogorets have equalised against Liverpool whose hopes of progressing really are hanging by a thread now.
89'
Cazorla hits the free kick too high and Arsenal are going to bring on Joel Campbell for the closing stages. Oxlade-Chamberlain is the man to make way.
88'
EXCELLENT PLAY FROM SANCHEZ! Surrounded by Dortmund players, he weaves his way through and is eventually awarded a free kick after he is bundled over.
86'
That just sums up Dortmund's night as they look to work the ball down the left hand side, but overhit the pass and the ball once again runs aimlessly behind.
84'
Nobody gambling for Dortmund! Gundogan picks the ball up on the edge of the area once more, and curls it into the box looking for a team mate but no-one's there and the ball runs behind.
82'
WELL HELD BY MARTINEZ! A Dortmund corner is cleared only as far as Gundogan who makes some space for himself before letting fly, but the Arsenal keeper is equal to it.
81'
We're into the final 10 minutes here. Dortmund need two goals to secure their place at the top of Group D, while Arsenal just need to hold out to seal their passage.
Minute
Description
79'
Ł. Podolski enters the game and replaces Y. Sanogo.
The Emirates stands as Sanogo limps off for the hosts. He's put in a really good shift tonight and hobbles away to be replaced by Lukas Podolski.
78'
M. Jojić enters the game and replaces K. Großkreutz.
77'
Kagawa receives the ball in space on the edge of the area and works the ball through to Grosskreutz, who fires the ball across the face of goal but nobody gets on the end of it for the hosts.
75'
Oxlade-Chamberlain lets fly from the right corner of the penalty area and sees the ball flash just a little too high of the target.
74'
Arsenal still lead 2-0 going into the final quarter of an hour. Although Dortmund have already secured their passage, the Gunners still had to get the job done and they are doing so at the moment.
72'
Subotic sums up Dortmund's frustration at their lack of chances created so far. He tries his luck from 40 yards out and the Emirates lets out a sarcastic cheer as it sails over the bar.
71'
VERY NEARLY FROM ARSENAL! They break with venom and Ramsey works the ball to Oxlade-Chamberlain. He then looks for the return but Dortmund are able to just about snuff out the danger and clear.
69'
Dortmund are finally starting a gain a foothold in this game. They are controlling possession now enjoying more time with the ball, need to make more of it further up the field though.
68'
OUCH! A clash of heads in the Arsenal penalty area between Mertesacker and Ramos sees both players go down but fortunately, neither seem particularly fazed by the incident and should be okay to continue.
67'
M. Flamini enters the game and replaces Mikel Arteta.
66'
There's a break in play here as Arteta is down for Arsenal. He's just signalled to the bench that he cannot continue and Mathieu Flamini is set to come on in his place. Mertesacker takes over the captain's armband.
64'
Arsenal are just taking a few moments to slow the pace down to suit themselves. They really have been on top tonight and won all the major battles so far.
61'
A. Ramos enters the game and replaces P. Aubameyang.
S. Kagawa enters the game and replaces C. Immobile.
Kagawa gets involved straight away as he is brought down and awarded a free kick. He will be looking to dictate the pace of the game, while Ramos has already proved this season that he can provide impact from the bench. Can they rescue Dortmund tonight?
60'
Dortmund make a double substitution on the hour-mark. Shinji Kagawa and Adrian Ramos are coming on, with Immobile and Aubameyang the men to make way.
57'
A. Sánchez has scored a goal for Arsenal! Assist by Santi Cazorla.
WHAT A GOAL - ALEXIS SANCHEZ!!!!!!
Arsenal have breathing space! Cazorla switches the ball to Sanchez on the left, and the Chilean cuts inside before curling it beautifully into the far corner beyond the reach of Weidenfeller.
54'
OOOOOOOOOOHHH! SO CLOSE OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN! The ball sits up nicely for Arsenal's new centurion and he hits it sweetly on the half-volley only for it to cannon back off the crossbar - Weidenfeller was beaten!
51'
GREAT SAVE FROM WEIDENFELLER! Arsenal come forward with Sanchez who evades a couple of challenges before getting a shot away from 20 yards. The Dortmund keeper has to scramble across to tip the ball around the post.
49'
Mertesacker only half-clears a diagonal ball forward as far as Mkhitaryan, whose snap shot from the edge of the area is well held by Martinez.
48'
Dortmund come forward and are passing the ball around sharply but Monreal puts an end to it all with a very firm and fair challenge on the edge of the area.
47'
Sanchez immediately searches for Sanogo with a through ball, but Weidenfeller is quick off his line to snuff out any potential danger. What is it about German keepers and sweeping?!
46'
WE'RE BACK UNDERWAY - Dortmund kick us off.
45'
And that's it for the first half here at the Emirates, Arsenal lead by a goal to nil.
43'
The ball breaks for Bender on the half-volley but he doesn't get the right contact and sends it spinning aimlessly into the arms of Martinez.
42'
Once again it comes to nothing though as Gundogan's attempted through ball for Piszczek to run onto is overhit and Arsenal can restart with a goal kick.
41'
Dortmund have a free kick in a dangerous area here. Sanchez is right to feel aggreived though, he clearly took the ball and is very unfortunate to be penalised.
40'
Liverpool have completed a turnaround in Sofia. After falling behind inside three minutes, goals from Rickie Lambert and Jordan Henderson have put them 2-1 up.
38'
Great diagonal ball from Gundogan is nodded down into the path of Mkhitaryan, but Martinez is sharp to react and keep out Dortmund's number 10.
37'
Ł. Piszczek gets yellow.
It comes to nothing though and Dortmund are able to clear easily enough once again.
36'
Piszczek is next into the book for Dortmund. Gibbs burst forward down the left flank and was pulled back by the right back. Arsenal have a free kick in a good position here.
34'
Sanogo chests the ball down for Oxlade-Chamberlain who bursts forward with purpose. He tries to return the ball to the goal scorer but is blocked by the defence.
32'
As it stands, Arsenal are on their way into the last 16 and a draw would be enough for them at this point as Anderlecht-Galatasaray remains goalless.
30'
GREAT PLAY FROM CAZORLA! The Spaniard displays some dazzling feet on the right hand side to get out of a tight situation, and his deep cross into the area forces a corner.
28'
That's the first real test that Martinez has faced all night. He calmly collects Piszczek's ball into the box from the right hand side. That will settle any nerves if he even had any.
26'
Some good link-up play between Gibbs and Sanchez results in a corner, which is punched away by Weidenfeller and Dortmund can relax for a moment.
25'
It's a big night for Oxlade-Chamberlain here at the Emirates - this evening marks his 100th appearance for Arsenal since joining from Southampton in 2011.
23'
We have a break in play here as Piszczek goes down holding his face. The replays show that he was accidentally caught by Oxlade-Chamberlain as the winger sprinted away from the right back.
21'
Gibbs to the rescue once again for Arsenal as their opponents look to break. Aubameyang looks for Immobile but the full back is there to thwart any danger. Dortmund get another chance but Mkhitaryan fires over from inside the area.
19'
WHISKERS AWAY FROM IMMOBILE! Piszczek whips in a dangerous ball across the face of goal, and the Italian is just inches away from connecting for what would have been the equaliser.
18'
This is the eighth meeting between the two sides in the Champions League. Both sides currently have three wins apiece along with one draw.
15'
Mikel Arteta gets yellow.
A sweeping move from Arsenal sees Cazorla look to pick out Sanchez. The Chilean lets the ball run though and cannot get enough on his attempted shot which he mishits in the end.
13'
N. Subotić gets yellow.
Some good play for Sanchez on the left hand side results in the first yellow card of the game as Subotic makes a foul out of frustration more than anything else.
11'
Dortmund threaten on the counter attack in trademark fashion for the first time. Mkhitaryan looks to find Aubameyang but Gibbs makes up good ground to make a well-timed interception.
9'
CHANCE FOR SANOGO! The striker breaks the offside trap but opts to cut inside instead of taking a shot on, and the opportunity eventually comes to nothing. Arsenal should have some breathing space now!
6'
It has been a very confident start from Arsenal. They look dangerous going forward and are closing their opponents down quickly - need to keep it going.
5'
Elsewhere, Liverpool's problems continue as they have fallen behind to Ludogorets in Sofia. Brendan Rodgers' men could be out with a defeat this evening.
2'
Y. Sanogo has scored a goal for Arsenal! Assist by Santi Cazorla.
GOAL TO ARSENAL - YAYA SANOGO!!!!!!
WHAT A START FOR ARSENAL! They have a throw-in on the right and Sanogo plays a one-two with Cazorla, and although he was borderline offside, he keeps his composure to slide the ball home through the legs of Weidenfeller.
1'
AND WE'RE OFF! Arsenal get us underway kicking from left to right.
Welcome to the LIVE text commentary as Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund go head to head in the UEFA Champions League. I'm Jonathan Davies and I'll be guiding you through the action at the Emirates Stadium.
The teams are in and Arsenal have made three changes from their defeat to Manchester United on Saturday - two forced by injury as Damian Martinez replaces Wojciech Szczesny in goal, while Santi Cazorla comes into midfield for Jack Wilshere. The other change sees Yaya Sanogo lead the attack ahead of Danny Welbeck. Jurgen Klopp makes four changes for Dortmund from their draw at Paderborn at the weekend.
ARSENAL SUBS: Koscielny, Rosicky, Podolski, Flamini, Campbell, Bellerin, Huddart.
This is a huge game in Group D. As it stands, Dortmund are top with a maximum 12 points - five ahead of Arsenal in second. The Germans have already qualified but a point will be enough to see them through as group winners. A draw will also seal the Gunners' passage to the last 16 so long as Anderlecht fail to beat Galatasaray in the other game tonight.
Both sides are struggling domestically though. Arsenal are currently eighth in the Premier League after back-to-back defeats and already trail leaders Chelsea by 15 points. Dortmund have had a shambolic start to their Bundesliga season - they find themselves just outside the relegation places in 16th on 11 points which is one less than their current total in this competition.
The teams are out. Hungarian Viktor Kassai is our referee at the Emirates. He took charge of Liverpool's defeat at Real Madrid three weeks ago, and Arsenal will be hoping for better fortunes with him in the middle this evening.
Elsewhere in Group D, Anderlecht scored just before the break to take the lead against Galatasaray. They will be hoping that Dortmund can turn things around in the second half to preserve their own chances of progressing to the last 16.
Yaya Sanogo's goal after just 73 seconds of only his second ever Champions League appearance is enough to give Arsenal a half-time lead over their German counterparts.
The teams are back out and the second half is upon us.
FULL TIME - ARSENAL 2 BORUSSIA DORTMUND 0
Job done for Arsenal - they are through to the last 16 of the Champions League after goals from Yaya Sanogo and Alexis Sanchez sealed tonight's victory. They can still win Group D but they need to beat Galatasaray in their final game and hope Anderlecht can overcome Dortmund.
That's all for this evening. Thank you for following the LIVE action from the Emirates. I've been Jonathan Davies - farewell until next time!
