The referee's whistle has blown, and the final is 4-1. The United States couldn't cope with Ireland's attack today and will have a lot to think about going into the January camp in 2015. Ireland will be thrilled at some of their discoveries and pleased to put the Scotland defeat in the rear-view mirror.

What a free kick from Robbie Brady. He's on the scoresheet again with a shot into the upper 90.
84'
R. Elliot enters the game and replaces S. Given.
Shot from outside the box from Bedoya. It won't trouble Given, and nothing else will today as he makes way as a substitute for the last bit of this match.
82'
J. McClean has scored a goal for Republic of Ireland!
Off the post! Oh my, what a run and shot from Shane Long, but he can't make the finish.
GOAL! It's McLean who fires in a shot that deflects off of Cameron and past Hamid. It's 3-1 to Ireland - a deserved lead.
81'
Garza gets into space and has a go from a Jordan Morris ball, but Given is there again. Corner taken by Bedoya but nothing doing.
Minute
Description
80'
Now Quinn with a chance. The U.S. can't seem to get out of its own way.
78'
Shane Long is totally alone, and he's onside! Tries to play the cross but the U.S. defense somehow gets back to clear the cross. Hits off an American on the way out for a corner.
77'
S. Long enters the game and replaces D. McGoldrick.
J. Hendrick enters the game and replaces D. Murphy.
J. Morris enters the game and replaces T. Chandler.
Shane Long in for David McGoldrick, who is cheered loudly by the Ireland crowd for handing out both assists. Another change also made by Ireland that the nice stats system will tell you about. I missed it.
76'
R. Rubín enters the game and replaces M. Diskerud.
Chandler gets back to win the ball off McGeady and that will be his last action. The Stanford University star gets in on the action. Rubio Rubin, who started against Colombia in the Americans' previous game, is also in.
74'
Still time to go, of course. The U.S. has been quite poor in the last 20-25 minutes of their recent matches. Can they instead find an equalizer?
73'
Ireland's debutants have shown really well. Martin O'Neill has to be happy with their performance, and really that of his whole side.
71'
Free kick coming here, and that might be the Americans' best chance at a goal.
An excellent move on that free kick as Bedoya passes to running Greg Garza who hits the low cross, but it's cleared.
70'
Altidore gets a chance of his own after being played in by Diskerud. Not too much happening for the U.S. though they're seeing plenty of the ball.
67'
Altidore to Wood who gets in on the keeper, but it glances off Given's boot and heads just wide of the post.
66'
J. Altidore gets yellow.
Well, that's silly from Altidore. He's been booked for a rough challenge. Looks like he's been frustrated at the lack of calls or him.
65'
G. Garza enters the game and replaces A. Morales.
Garza, who has started at left back for the U.S. the past couple of games and played there for Club Tijuana, is going to stay in midfield at the start.
64'
J. McClean enters the game and replaces A. Pilkington.
Two chance coming up for the US. McClean in for Ireland and Greg Garza in for the U.S. Pilkington off after an excellent performance.
61'
Corner kick for Ireland. Brady takes it and it goes back post but Murphy hits his own man with his shot.
60'
Here comes Aiden McGeady for Stokes.
59'
A. McGeady enters the game and replaces A. Stokes.
Meanwhile David McGoldrick, in his first international match, certainly seems to be up to the task.
58'
Geoff Cameron lets Murphy get the best of him, and Ireland continues to batter the U.S. back line.
55'
R. Brady has scored a goal for Republic of Ireland! Assist by D. McGoldrick.
Pilkington again running at Chandler, but Beckerman there to help out. Then he stops a cross and takes that one in the...stomach? Other sensitive area? Somewhere that wasn't too nice.
GOAL! Robbie Brady slots it past Hamid. Johnson lost the ball and Brady got it and played a one-two with McGoldrick
54'
Chance for Ireland! Pilkington gets behind Chandler and his effort goes to the back post where Fabian Johnson is abe to defend it - barely.
50'
Ireland with a chance to break, but Stokes gives it away. Stars and Stripes get it to Altidore who goes for goal, but is kept off the board.
49'
Bedoya flicks on for Fabian Johnson with the U.S. attack continuing to work well on its right. Johnson can't find Altidore or Wood in the box, though.
46'
B. Wood enters the game and replaces C. Wondolowski.
At the break, Jurgen Klinsmann tells ESPN he's happy with the way the U.S. played in the final 20 minutes or so of the half.
45' +1
We head to the break with the score level. 1-1.
45'
Chandler with an excellent cross and Ireland again heads it out.for a corner kick. They're defending well in the air - same situation on the corner and the whistle blows.
Change for the United States at the break with Bobby Wood coming on for Chris Wondolowski up top.
43'
Off the post! The ball is crossed from the left side to Bedoya at the far post. He finds Altidore in the box and the shot is just deflected onto the bar.
42'
Cameron tries to hoof forward to Altidore and ends up winning a throw.
39'
M. Diskerud has scored a goal for United States! Assist by C. Wondolowski.
GOAL! It's Mix Diskerud after Chris Wondolowski heads down a Jozy Altidore cross. The Americans find the equalizer.
Meyler gave the ball away under pressure from Diskerud. Ball went to Wondolowski, who appealed for a penalty but got back up as Altidore coralled possesion, turned and played in a cross. Nice finish from Mix Diskerud with his right foot.
37'
K. Beckerman gets yellow.
It's the dreadlocked American whose name goes into the referee's book.
36'
Well, that was strange. Pilkington and Beckerman collide and looked like they were hugging but then seemed to shove.
32'
United States trying to build from the back, but some good pressure from Ireland is keeping the ball in ithe Americans' half.
29'
Stokes and Brady standing over a free kick for Ireland coming in from the left side of its attack. Brady takes it and it's Altidore who is back defending and clears it away.
27'
Whoops! Geoff Cameron trips over himself with the ball at the feet and an Ireland attacker is able to run onto it. Hamid is there to make a vital save.
26'
Hamid punches that corner away, and Chandler looking to counter. Wondolowski pushed off the ball, standing right by the center back.
25'
Nice bit of movement from Ireland with Stokes looking for Stephen Quinn who makes a late run. Beckerman over to defend and it goes off him for a corner.
24'
Does the U.S. have some sort of short corner quota for the year they haven't filled?
22'
More success down that side from the United States and another corner kick forthcoming. Alejandro Bedoya definitely winning the battle over makeshift LB Brady.
CHANCE for the U.S. The corner whipped to Johnson who hits a the post with a low shot from about 23-yards out. Decent effort.
21'
This corner goes near post and Diskerud tries to volley the half-clearance. It goes all the way out for a throw-in at the far side. Yuck.
20'
Bedoya dashes down the right-hand side, he's been able to get by Brady a few times tonight and he just shrugs him off. His ball is good but it's headed out for a USA corner.
19'
Now some control from the United States. They've had possession but no cohesion, but the Americans are starting to connect a bit. Beckerman, Diskerud trying to get involved.
17'
Now Murphy is all alone for Ireland! It's because he is offside as well!
16'
Diskerud finds Wondolowski all alone! It's because he's offside!
13'
Brady keeps a ball in for Ireland near the U.S. goal, but Johnson shepherds it back into a less dangerous area.
12'
Foul on Morales leads to a fre kick. Bedoya goes to his right rather than take a chance on goal. Fabian Johnson's cross is cleared as far as Chandler who skies his effort.
10'
Just seeing a replay of the goal. Bedoya and Beckerman couldn't connect and the Real Salt Lake man and Mix Diskerud couldn't get back quickly enough to slow Ireland. The U.S. will be disappointed with that.
9'
The Americans looking for a quick response get it out wide to Bedoya on the right-hand side of attack, and he gets by Stokes and plays in centrally for Diskerud, but there's too much traffic in the box.
7'
A. Pilkington has scored a goal for Republic of Ireland! Assist by D. McGoldrick.
GOAL! Counterattack for Ireland finished off by Anthony Pilkington!
Well, lost in midfield by the U.S., and David McGoldrick made an excellent pass to set up Pilkington. Good finish as well. 1-0.
6'
A little bit of possession for the host now, as the Irish work it around the midfield.
5'
Another corner and it's the same short corner for the U.S. Chandler gets it this time and troubles Given a bit with a long, floating ball, but it's eventually collected and cleared.
4'
It's still-moustachioed Alejandro Bedoya who takes the corner. It goes short and Bedoya gets it back. Finds Morales, but the man making his first U.S. start blasts it into the stands.
3'
Chandler down the left-hand side toward Morales who wins a corner for the Americans.
2'
Teams trading possession with errors as though they don't want the ball early.
1'
The United States gets the ball rolling. Game on!
Grab your halftime snacks or pay attention for a few minutes in class or that work meeting. We'll be back in a few minutes!
It's the final match of 2014 for Ireland and the United States, and both teams will hope to close the year with a strong result. I'm Jon Arnold here to bring you all the action.
The lineups are in for both teams, so let's take a look at each team.
Jurgen Klinsmann goes with Bill Hamid in goal, Fabian Johnson, Geoff Cameron, Matt Besler and Timmy Chandler in defense, Kyle Beckerman as the defensive midfielder, Alejandro Bedoya, Mix Diskerud and Alfredo Morales ahead of him, and Chris Wondolowski paired with captain Jozy Altidore up top.
Eyes will be on Hamid, who is getting his second U.S. start in goal. Morales, who similarly hasn't seen too much time with the national team, and Wondolowski, who most U.S. fans seem to not be excited to see up top.
Martin O'Neill has changed his entire team after a 1-0 Euro qualifying defeat to Scotland. Shay Given, Cyrus Christie, Alex Pearce, Ciaran Clark, David Meyler, Stephen Quinn, Robert Brady, Anthony Pilkington, Daryl Murphy, David McGoldrick, and Anthony Stokes start.
It's an international debut for Christie and McGoldrick, while on the other side of experience Given gets his 127th cap - more than the rest of the team combined, it appears.
Mix Diskerud spotlit as a player to watch. He's now without a club, as our Ives Galarcep reported earlier this week and is also now without a moustache. He shaved it after a disappointing performance against Colombia.
The U.S. is searching for its first ever win in Dublin, with four defeats in four attempts.
Americans also looking to snap a three-match winless streak with Ireland coming off a loss to Scotland and a draw with Germany since its last match.
Tim Ream is on the United States bench. He reportedly flew into Dublin today to replace John Brooks, who left camp because of an ankle problem.
Anthem time! We're nearly underway in Dublin.
Television cameras trying to show Jurgen Klinsmann, but a security guy is blocking the view. Andy Hertzog is the only coach who actually gets any face time.
Ireland in its white shirts while the USA is wearing the bomb pop kits with blue on top, a white stripe and red on bottom.
The Aviva Stadium is a stunning facility, but it's not much of a crowd tonight.
Moment of silence for a Scotland supporter who was killed in an accident.
