Just two minutes of added time and we have played them! Freiburg get their consolation goal but it is hardly enough as Dortmund see this one out with ease.
90'
O. Sorg has scored a goal for Freiburg! Assist by M. Philipp.
CONSOLATION FOR FREIBURG! Sorg pulls one back.
It really is a horrendous goal, as he rolls a harmless looking ball, diagonally across the face of goal. No one deals with it, however, including Weidenfeller, and it rolls into the net! Shocking to see that one trickle in as Dortmund were caught sleeping.
88'
We should not see much time added on here. There have been more than a couple stoppages, but neither team looks very interested in playing this one out. Freiburg manage to get the ball forward, but they do little with it as Dortmund continue to defend their attacks with ease.
87'
P. Zulechner gets yellow.
86'
Yellow card for substitute Mike Frantz, who just came on, as he gets his elbow up on Durm. Real unnecessary, that, as the Dortmund players take exception to it. Tempers starting to rise here as we approach the final whistle.
85'
M. Frantz gets yellow.
84'
P. Krmaš gets yellow.
Free kick to Dortmund at the very edge of the area as Pavel Krmas commits a cynical challenge on Immobile. The defender appears to have hurt himself here, or perhaps he is trying to avoid the yellow card to come.
82'
P. Zulechner enters the game and replaces F. Klaus.
STAT ATTACK: Freiburg failed to pick up a point on their travels against the top four teams last season, and were outscored 14-1.
80'
S. Bender enters the game and replaces M. Jojić.
M. Frantz enters the game and replaces V. Darida.
Final substitution for Dortmund as Mkhitaryan gives way for Sven Bender, who will help see this one out, surely. His dummy on the Ramos pass allowed Kagawa to score the second goal. It will not count as an assist, but things like that do not go unnoticed by the manager.
78'
P. Aubameyang has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by S. Kehl.
His incredible speed was on full display there, as just seconds after the corner is taken, he sprints up the pitch, gets onto the ball and finishes calmly past Burki. It was a tidy finish, and quite impressive considering the speed at which he broke into the area.
Minute
Description
77'
GOAL FOR DORTMUND! Aubameyang puts this game to bed once and for all.
76'
Freiburg mustering any last bit of energy they have here. Gunter, who has been a real bright spot for them, gets forward and wins a corner.
75'
P. Aubameyang enters the game and replaces A. Ramos.
74'
Adrian Ramos makes his way off the field as he is set to be replaced by Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng. Ramos receives a nice applause, after an impressive first start for his new club. He now has two goals in as many appearances for Dortmund in the league.
72'
The pace has fizzled out of the match as Dortmund now seem content on seeing this one out, perhaps preserving their energy for Tuesday's Champions League clash with Arsenal. They continue to enjoy possession, but much of it is contained in midfield at the moment.
70'
Freiburg win a free kick near the corner flag after some side work by Schuster. Darida whips in a dangerous ball, but it is not attacked well enough and is eventually cleared. Freiburg retain possession, but a poor pass forward runs out for a goal kick, much to the disappointment of Christian Streich.
68'
STAT ATTACK: The last time Freiburg left the Signal Iduna Park with a result was back in 2001, when they defeated Dortmund by a score of 2-0. To this day, that remains their only away win over Die Schwarzgelben in the Bundesliga.
66'
Burki has been awfully busy in goal for Freiburg. He has been on his toes for much of the match, however, as his quick reactions and willingness to be aggressive and charge at balls played into the area has helped lessen the burden on his defence.
64'
C. Immobile enters the game and replaces S. Kagawa.
We have a bit of a delay now as Shinji Kagawa is down, experiencing what looks like some tightness to his hamstring. He eventually makes his way off with the training staff and heads straight down the tunnel. Hopefully for his sake it is nothing serious. Italian striker Ciro Immobile is the one to replace him as Dortmund likely revert to a 4-4-2 formation.
62'
The hosts have enjoyed nearly 65 percent possession, as they continue to pass the ball around Freiburg at will. Their running off the ball is making life so difficult on the visitors, who cannot keep track of all the movement.
60'
As we approach the hour mark, Dortmund appear to have no intent on taking their foot off the gas. Another lovely move sees Mkhitaryan pick out Kagawa, who finds Ramos in the centre. The striker gives the ball back to the Armenian, but his shot sails over the bar.
59'
M. Kempf gets yellow.
58'
STAT ATTACK: Only Eintracht Brauschweig scored fewer goals on their travels last season than Freiburg – who managed 18 in 17 away matches in the league.
56'
Freiburg look like they want to get forward and find a way back in this, but Dortmund will not let up. Impressive display of attacking football from the hosts who could be three or four goals up by now if not for some solid last ditch defending from the visitors.
54'
Important interception from Gunter. Dortmund pressing again. Kehl and Kagawa link up, with the goalscorer spotting the run of Mkhitaryan and threading through a nice ball, but Gunter is quick to react and just manages to break it up.
52'
Lightning quick counter! The corner is cleared and Dortmund break. Jojic is nearly played through by Mkhitaryan, but Burki rushes out, just beating the midfielder to the ball.
50'
BRILLIANT STOP FROM WEIDENFELLER! Lovely work from Darida to beat a defender and then pick out a lovely chipped cross in for Schmid, but Weidenfeller gets fingers on it to tip the header behind for a corner kick.
48'
The hosts' free-flowing attack has continued early in this second half. They move the ball up the pitch so quickly and they have some great passers of the ball that make every attack a real threat. Mkhytaryan picks out Kagawa, who goes to ground just inside the area. Nothing is given, however, and Freiburg reclaim possession.
46'
Dortmund kick-off as the second half gets underway! No changes to tell you about at the break, but we will see if a change in tactics is in order from Freiburg, as they search for a way back into this game.
45' +1
HANDBALL! Mkhitaryan's move is halted by Krmas who put his hands up inside the area to block him from advancing. The referee did not see enough in it, however, as he does not award the penalty and instead blows for half-time as the danger is cleared.
45'
One minute of added time, as Weidenfeller is forced into action for the first time since the opening five minutes, doing well to collect a dangerous ball into the area.
43'
Back come Dortmund! Ramos appears to be through on goal, but he rather unselfishly cuts it back for Jojic whose off balance shot trickles wide of the far post. The hosts have sprung to life in the past 10 minutes!
42'
M. Philipp enters the game and replaces A. Mehmedi.
41'
S. Kagawa has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by A. Ramos.
The build-up was superb on this one, yet again. Grosskreutz, Ramos and Mkhitaryan all involved in the build-up, before Kagawa finishes the move with a lovely first time hit from Ramos' pass, slotting it inside the near post.
40'
GOAL! KAGAWA DOUBLES DORTMUND'S LEAD!
38'
Dortmund look all the more threatening now, following their goal. Grosskreutz has another chance to pick out a pass from the same location, but this one is intercepted by Schuster who gets back in support. Then Mkhitaryan picks up a lose ball on the right and cuts into the centre, but his shot just misses the mark.
36'
STAT ATTACK: Freiburg have now kept just three clean sheets in their last 24 league matches, only one of which was recorded on their travels.
34'
A. Ramos has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by K. Großkreutz.
GOAAAAAL FOR DORTMUND! RAMOS GIVES THE HOSTS THE LEAD!
Absolutely superb work from Kagawa in midfield, as he fends off two defenders, dribbles into space and picks Grosskreutz with a sensational ball. The winger then sends a pass across goal that is met by Ramos, who diverts it into the back of the net. He will not get credit for an assist, but that was all made possible by the work of Kagawa in midfield.
31'
A disastrous back-pass nearly sends Ramos in on goal, but Burki does his best Manuel Neuer impression, charging 10 yards out of his area, just beating the striker to the ball and clearing the threat.
29'
Oliver Sorg and Christian Gunter have done exceptionally well in this opening half an hour, limiting the threat of Dortmund's wingers, and tracking the overlapping runs of the wing backs. The hosts are having more success building through the centre, as they have been able to find space around Schuster and Darida in the middle.
27'
The last few minutes have been played almost entirely in midfield. The match is in danger of becoming a bit stale as Freiburg remain committed to defending. The game could really use a goal or we could be in for a chess match as this one progresses.
25'
Smart goalkeeping from Burki. Kagawa shifts his way into space on the right, draws two defenders to him, then picks out a pass to Piszczek who has space and time to deliver a cross. The ball in is good, but Burki anticipates it and comes out to collect.
23'
STAT ATTACK: The last time Dortmund lost their home opener was back in 2010, also a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkussen. They responded by winning three consecutive matches at the Signal Iduna Park, without conceding a goal.
21'
INCREDIBLE! FANTASTIC DEFENDING KEEPS THIS ONE SCORELESS! Adrian Ramos gets on the end of a pass and finds himself in space just inside the right of the area. He whips a ball across the face of goal in an attempt to pick out Grosskreutz, but Kempf slides in and puts the ball behind. I still haven't a clue how he managed not to put the ball in his own net there from less that two feet out.
19'
S. Papastathopoulos gets yellow.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos is shown the first yellow card of the match as he slides in and takes out Mehmedi who built up a full head of steam towards goal. Again the delivery from the free kick is poor, and Dortmund clear the threat with relative ease.
17'
Despite spending extended periods of time on the ball, Dortmund are struggling to find ways through the defence. True to form, Freiburg are keeping their shape and defending very well early on, limiting the amount of looks the hosts get on their goal.
15'
Kagawa has looked very good in this opening 15 minutes. He is getting into some dangerous areas, dribbling the ball well around defenders and always picking out a smart pass. Plenty of early possession for the hosts and he has played a large role in that.
13'
Freiburg win a free kick in the attacking half, right near the sideline, after some good work from Mehmedi to fend off two defenders and hold up the ball. The delivery into the area is poor, however, and Dortmund regain possession.
11'
VERY RISKY! Appeals for a penalty are not given, as Kempf flies into the back of Mkhitaryan inside the area. The Armenia international goes down after some firm contact, but will have to settle for a corner kick.
9'
STAT ATTACK: Borussia Dortmund have won eight consecutive matches against Freiburg, while maintaining five clean sheets and never conceding more than a single goal.
7'
INCHES WIDE OF THE OPENER! Brilliant ball from Jojic to pick out the run of Grosskreutz. The midfielder tries to chip the keeper, but sees his attempt fall just inches wide of the far post with Ramos chasing a rebound.
5'
Kagawa springs into action for the first time, taking a pass in midfield before trying his luck from 30 yards out. His effort sails over the bar, but he receives a warm applause from the home supporters who seem very excited to have the Japanese midfielder back in yellow and black.
3'
Early chance for the visitors through Mehmedi who gets on the end of a passing move but cannot beat Weidenfeller with his shot - the Dortmund goalie makes himself big and manages to get his hands in front of the shot.
1'
Freiburg kick-off and we are underway in Dortmund! The hosts are wearing their yellow tops with black shorts, moving left to right, with the visitors in red and white.
Good day, Bundesliga fans! Welcome to the Signal Iduna Park as Borussia Dortmund play host to Freiburg in their first match back from the international break. I am Alex Moretto and I will be your in-game host, guiding you through the match LIVE as it happens!
Jurgen Klopp's men rebounded from an opening day loss to Leverkussen with a 3-2 victory over Augsburg, although a late collapse nearly saw the three points slip away. Dortmund have struggled at times through the first two matches, but an opportune international break may be exactly what they needed to get their season on track. A win against Freiburg would give them a necessary confidence boost headed into a massive Champions League date with Arsenal on Tuesday.
After a fifth place finish in 2012/13, Freiburg's struggles from last season have continued through the first two weeks of the new campaign. Christian Streich's men are still searching for their first goal of the season, but did manage to pick up their first point in the last match, a scoreless draw with Borussia Monchengladbach. Today's test against Dortmund will not make matters any easier, although last year's runner ups have conceded four goals through their first two matches – the third highest total in the Bundesliga.
The teams have been announced, so let us have ourselves a look at the starting line-ups:
Two changes for Dortmund, and they are big ones. Marco Reus, who picked up an injury with Germany over the international break, is replaced by Shinji Kagawa. The Japan international makes his first start since returning to the club during the transfer window. Meanwhile, Adrian Ramos gets his first league start for Dortmund as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is rested ahead of their Champions League showdown with Arsenal.
Just one change for Freiburg, following their scoreless draw with Monchengladbach, as striker Nicolas Hofler comes in to replace Dani Schahin. The back four, who have yet to concede a goal, remain in tact for this clash.
The players have made their way out onto the pitch as we near kick-off here at the Signal Iduna Park. How will Dortmund fare without the services of Marco Reus? Can Shinji Kagawa find the form that earned him a big money move to Manchester in the first place? All these questions and more will be answered in the next 90 minutes...
HALF-TIME: DORTMUND 2-0 FREIBURG. The break could not have come at a better time for the visitors as they began to fall apart in the final 15 minutes. Shinji Kagawa has been sensational in his Dortmund return, creating the first goal before doubling the lead with one of his own. Freiburg have posed no threat going forward, and until they are willing to commit more men forward, they can expect nothing less.
There is still some hope for Freiburg, but they have to be willing to attack. Dortmund have kept just one clean sheet in their last six home league matches.
The players are making their way back out onto the pitch as we get set for the start of the second half.
FULL-TIME: DORTMUND 3-1 FREIBURG. The hosts took a bit of time to break down the defence, but they found their breakthrough and never looked back. Dominant display from them as they dismantle Freiburg with ease. Shinji Kagawa looked great in his return, and Adrian Ramos was no slouch either in his first league start.
That is all from me here, as Dortmund avenge an opening weekend loss in front of their home fans with an impressive display today. I am Alex Moretto, and I would like to thank you all for joining me today. Good bye!
