UNDERWAY AT SOUTHAMPTON: The fans are chanting Adam Lallana's name as we get started at St Mary's stadium. Can Manchester United snatch that final spot in the Europa League from Tottenham.
Good afternoon and welcome to LIVE! coverage of the final day of the Barclays Premier League. Southampton take on Manchester United at St Mary's. The visitors can snatch a Europa League spot as they seek to end a very disappointing season on a minor high.
Ryan Giggs signs off as interim manager of the Red Devils this afternoon, and there are further goodbyes. Nemanja Vidic departs after a successful stay at Old Trafford, with Patrice Evra among the players whose futures remain undecided.
For Southampton, it has been a superb season by all accounts for Mauricio Pochettino's side. Shrugging off boardroom troubles surrounding the Liebherr family and Nicola Cortese, the likes of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw and Jay Rodriguez have catapulted the Saints to their highest ever Premier League points tally. They will finish 8th today.
For Southampton, it may be Pochettino's final game in charge, with the Argentine linked with various vacant positions in Europe. Will it also be the final game for Shaw and Lallana, who are linked with moves to the North West also?
For United, who would've thought 2013-14 would end this badly? Not in the frame for the title, not even for the UEFA Champions League places. It's Europa League or bust. Should Tottenham lose to Aston Villa this afternoon, a United win would see them snatch the final qualifying spot for the Europa League.
