The hosts have the ball and Carrick fires a long pass forward for Hernandez, but there's too much pace on it as Neuer lets it run out for a goal kick. Into time added on in time added on...
90' +2
It's died down a little bit, and you get the feeling both sides will be content with the draw as a long ball forward goes straight out for a goal kick to Bayern.
90' +1
We're into three minutes of added time, although there may be slightly more after that sending off. Will there be a winner?
90'
B. Schweinsteiger gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
SCHWEINSTEIGER IS OFF!! The midfielder picks up his second yellow of the match, getting his marching orders as he slides in late on Rooney in midfield. The referee has no choice and that's another player banned for the game in Munich.
89'
Javi Martínez gets yellow.
Valencia cuts out the ball and United break quickly before it's played into Hernandez, who spins past Martinez before going down under the defender's challenge. The fans want red but it's a booking for the Bayern man, who will miss the second leg now.
88'
Young shanks a clearance and it goes straight to Boateng, giving the visitors another chance to probe United's defence with their quick passing.
87'
Valencia fires in a cross from the right and Kagawa wins it near the penalty spot, but can only flick it backwards and Bayern come away with the ball.
86'
Robben takes on Jones on the right-hand side, and looks to have muscled the defender off the ball before the assistant flags for a free kick to the hosts. Not long left - is there a final twist in the tale this evening?
85'
J. Hernández enters the game and replaces D. Welbeck.
Javier Hernandez is giving a late cameo by Moyes as he replaces Welbeck, who has thoroughly impressed this evening but has probably run out of steam after a night full of running.
84'
Welbeck wins the battle in the air against Boateng and chases his own header on, forcing the defender to go back to Neuer, who ends up slicing it into touch under pressure from Rooney.
Minute
Description
83'
The free kick is launched towards the Bayern box but the referee blows straight away as Rooney shoves Martinez, and the visitors will come forward once again.
82'
M. Mandžukić gets yellow.
Neuer hacks the ball forward and Vidic is there to win a header with a towering leap, but Mandzukic catches the United captain late to earn himself a place in the book.
81'
BIG chance for Bayern as Robben slides a wonderful pass through for Ribery, and the Frenchman plays it first time across the six-yard box, but Mandzukic isn't quite on the same wavelength and he can't reach the ball.
80'
Into the final 10 minutes at Old Trafford, and Bayern are still enjoying the lion's share of possession. Ribery's deflected cross from the left is headed down by Gotze, but he doesn't find a team-mate and United clear.
79'
Welbeck does really well to hold the ball up from both Rafinha and Robben before laying back to Kagawa. Despite his shocking miss in the first half, the United striker has produced a very good performance this evening.
78'
ROBBEN!! He's getting closer!! Alaba's ball in from the left is brought down by Gotze, who lets it run for Robben. The winger sees a gap and fires a low shot with his right from the penalty spot, but it drifts just wide of De Gea's post.
77'
Young's delivery isn't good enough and Bayern clear. It comes back to the substitute but again it's a poor ball and the visitors easily reclaim possession.
76'
Rooney turns superbly in midfield and sets Kagawa on his way. He finds Young on the right, whose cross is cleared but only as far as Fellaini. It comes back out to the right and the hosts force a corner...
75'
Alaba swings in a cross from the left but Vidic is there yet again to make a clearance. Bayern come back quickly through Robben, but the winger slips and both Jones and Kagawa work hard to clear.
74'
M. Götze enters the game and replaces T. Kroos.
A. Young enters the game and replaces A. Büttner.
Ashley Young is on for United as he replaces Buttner, while Mario Gotze is on for Kroos, who hasn't been as effective as usual tonight. Can any of the substitutes make an impact late on here?
73'
Antonio Valencia, you lucky, lucky boy! The winger jumps into a challenge with Boateng and the defender is down in a heap. The Bayern players are furious but Valencia somehow escapes a second booking. Big, big decision.
72'
De Gea launches another long ball forward and Fellaini chests down well before laying off to Jones, but the attack breaks down once more.
71'
ROBBEN!! The winger has a one-on-one with Buttner and manages to cut inside the full-back before whipping another curling effort at goal, but again it goes wide of the far post.
70'
Valencia gets up reasonably easily and trots off to the side for some treatment. It looks like he should be OK to carry on after all, as we enter the final 20 minutes.
69'
There's a pause in play as the referee checks on Valencia, who has been on the floor for a minute or so, and looks in a bit of discomfort.
68'
Chance for United as Fellaini gets beyond the line and looks for the run of Rooney inside the box, but it's well cut out and the visitors have possession again.
67'
B. Schweinsteiger has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by M. Mandžukić.
SCHWEINSTEIGER EQUALISES!! Moments after Boateng tested De Gea with a long-range effort, the visitors get back in the game as Rafinha's deep cross is met by Mandzukic, who heads down into the run of Schweinsteiger, and the German fires a stunning half-volley into the top corner.
Is that the killer blow for the hosts, or can they get their noses back in front? It was a wonderful finish from Schweinsteiger, and you get the feeling that could lead to more Bayern goals.
65'
Error from Buttner, who handles the ball when bringing down Neuer's long ball. Bayern waste the chance, though, as Robben's pass towards Ribery is well cut out by Carrick just outside the box.
63'
M. Mandžukić enters the game and replaces T. Müller.
After a frantic few minutes Bayern have settled things down again and are keeping the ball, but it's all in front of United at the moment. Guardiola makes his first change, throwing on Mario Mandzukic for Muller, who has been very quiet.
62'
Rooney's delivery from the free kick is very disappointing as it floats out for a goal kick. His wonderful corner for the goal aside, the forward has given the ball away several times tonight.
61'
B. Schweinsteiger gets yellow.
Schweinsteiger echoes Bayern's frustration as he lunges in on Carrick, picking up a yellow card and giving the hosts a chance to fire the ball into the box once more...
60'
Martinez shoves Welbeck in midfield and United take it quickly. Kagawa is in behind the defence but Neuer charges out brilliantly to palm the ball out for a throw.
59'
Well, how about that? This has set the last 30 minutes up beautifully. Bayern haven't created much in the way of clear-cut chances, but that will have to change if they're to avoid defeat tonight.
58'
N. Vidić has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by W. Rooney.
VIDIC PUTS UNITED IN FRONT!! It's a superb goal as United win a corner and Rooney swings it in beautifully. Vidic manages to find some space six yards out and directs a header right into the far corner, giving Neuer no chance.
57'
Muller sees a shot blocked on the edge of the area and United break quickly, with Welbeck almost through before Martinez comes across to see the ball out of play.
56'
Carrick pings a ball out to the right for Valencia, who fires it into the danger area but it evades everyone. Rooney recovers it on the left, though, and swings a cross towards Fellaini at the far post, forcing a fine clearance from Boateng.
55'
The dynamic of the match still hasn't changed since the break. Bayern are dominating possession but not finding many opportunities, while the hosts are just crafting the odd chance, especially with balls beyond the defence.
54'
ROBBEN!! The Dutchman slides in a pass to Schweinsteiger inside the box, and the midfielder lays it back to his team-mate, who sees his low effort blocked by a superb challenge from Ferdinand.
53'
Another shot on target for United, albeit a tame one, as Rooney wins the ball in the air and directs a header towards goal. It's comfortable for Neuer, though, who doesn't have to move to gather.
52'
Valencia does well to hold off an aerial challenge from Alaba and Carrick fires the ball over the top for Rooney to chase. Neuer sprints out of his area and nearly misjudges the bounce, but manages to head out for a throw.
51'
Ribery charges down the left-hand side and drills in a cross looking for Robben at the near post, but Vidic is there to head away. The United skipper has looked very solid so far tonight.
50'
Valencia does well to get a cross away under pressure from Alaba and Ribery, but it's cleared away by Boateng. Fellaini tries to collect the through ball near the by-line, but Boateng is there again to fire the ball away.
49'
The visitors are quickly back into their mantra of controlling the tempo, but Rafinha produces a loose pass looking for Robben down the flank, and the ball goes behind for a goal kick.
48'
Early chance for Bayern as Schweinsteiger drives into the United box, hammering a shot from a tight angle which flashes high and wide of De Gea's near post.
47'
Kagawa's first involvement is slightly unfortunate as he slips in midfield after trying to collect Carrick's return pass. A few players have slipped tonight - just wondering if there might be a telling fall at some point this evening...
46'
S. Kagawa enters the game and replaces R. Giggs.
The hosts resume proceedings and we're underway in the second half. Giggs has been replaced by David Moyes at the break, and Shinji Kagawa is on.
45'
VALENCIA!! Rooney nods the ball down for Welbeck, who works hard to play it out for Valencia. The winger's cross deflects off Alaba and whistles just over the crossbar for a corner.
44'
Real danger for United as Ribery picks the ball up just outside the box, and looks to work some space for a shot. Instead he ends up looking to slide a pass through for Robben, who had checked his run, and Buttner picks it up for the hosts.
43'
Muller collects the ball on the right and plays back to Robben, who drifts inside before finding Ribery. United get organised quickly and the visitors struggle to find a way through, but they're still dominating possession.
42'
Welbeck is almost through again as he challenges Rafinha to reach De Gea's long ball forward, but the referee blows for a foul on the Bayern full-back.
41'
David Moyes certainly doesn't look impressed with that. A glorious opportunity wasted by Welbeck. Under five minutes to go until the break, and it's still level.
40'
WELBECK!! WHAT A CHANCE!! The United striker absolutely HAS to score here as he gets to the ball ahead of Boateng and is through one-on-one, but for some reason tries to chip the ball over Neuer. The tall goalkeeper has no problem plucking it out of the air - poor decision making from Welbeck.
38'
Schweinsteiger produces another loose pass, giving it straight to Fellaini, but again United can't keep it as the Bayern midfielder recovers to win it back for the visitors. That's been the story of the half.
37'
VIDIC!! The United skipper keeps things level as Alaba fires a low ball across the six-yard box and, with Muller charging to the far post, Vidic slides in to hack the ball clear.
36'
Three United players close down Robben on the halfway line and the hosts win the ball, although it has to go all the way back to De Gea. The goalkeeper's long clearance forward almost finds Rooney but Neuer is there to claim from just inside his area.
35'
Bayern win a corner and they go short to Lahm, who squares to Kroos in acres of space, but the midfielder's chip into the box is too deep and De Gea cuts it out well.
33'
ROONEY!! Great chance for United as Fellaini squares the ball to the edge of the area for Rooney, whose first-time effort is superbly blocked by Lahm. At the other end Jones does brilliantly to cut out one pass before Ferdinand tidies up well.
32'
That was Bayern's first shot on target after 31 minutes. For all their possession, they actually haven't created that much. Meanwhile, Welbeck registers United's first attempt at goal with a tame low effort straight at Neuer from 20 yards.
31'
ROBBEN!! Fantastic save from De Gea!! The winger is in a more central position than his last shot, but again cuts on to his left, bending a shot towards the far post from 25 yards and forcing a wonderful one-handed stop from the United goalkeeper.
30'
Carrick swings a lovely first-time ball out to the left for Welbeck, but Bayern find their shape quickly and the striker is forced backwards. It's worked out to the right for Rooney, who is muscled off the ball by Boateng.
29'
Good defending from Valencia, who gets back to cover as Ribery looks to flick the ball over the top for Muller, but the winger watches well to hammer it out for a throw.
28'
Martinez fires a rare long ball forward and Ferdinand cuts it out, but again the visitors get possession back quickly. United just can't get hold of the ball at all.
27'
Chance for United at the other end as Rooney takes a quick throw for Welbeck to chase, but the striker can't quite bring it under control inside the Bayern box and both Martinez and Boateng close him down to win the ball.
26'
Lahm, Schweinsteiger and Kroos are being afforded plenty of time on the ball in midfield, and that's very bad news for United. Still no real chances for the visitors yet, though.
25'
Good hold-up play from Rooney, who reaches De Gea's clearance forward and forces a throw off Rafinha on the left-hand side. United need to keep the ball but again possession is surrendered within seconds.
24'
The ball is played back to Kroos, who sees a pocket of space so tries an audacious effort from 35 yards, but it hammers against Carrick. The visitors come straight back as Ribery plays in Alaba, and the full-back whips a dangerous ball across the six-yard box which evades everyone.
23'
Valencia plays the ball down the line to Rooney, who looks to return it to the winger with a chipped diagonal pass, but Boateng reads it well to cut the ball out and regain possession for the visitors.
22'
Kroos can't control Schweinsteiger's heavy pass and the hosts win possession, but Rooney wastes the opportunity as his ball out wide is poor, going straight out for a throw. United can't afford errors like that when they get the ball.
21'
Rafinha cuts the ball out in midfield and charges into the United half before firing an effort from 25 yards, but it's blocked by Vidic and the hosts survive another dangerous attack.
19'
Lahm advances into the United half before slowing things down and looking for a gap. The visitors are ramping up the pressure but keeping things patient at the moment.
18'
Ribery picks the ball up in midfield - he's been very central so far tonight. The Frenchman takes on Carrick before cutting on to his left and firing a shot at goal which slices well wide of the target.
17'
The Bayern dominance continues with every player camped inside the United half. The hosts' early pressure has dissipated already, and they're going to find it tough going if the remainder of the match plays out like this.
16'
Schweinsteiger charges through the middle but loses out in midfield before winning it back and slotting Robben through straight away. He again links up with Ribery, drilling a low cross in from the by-line but it's cleared behind.
15'
A. Valencia gets yellow.
Bayern have won seven successive Champions League games, and are starting to take charge of this one. They've had 70 per cent possession so far. Meanwhile, Valencia goes in late on Lahm and earns himself a booking after receiving plenty of angry gestures from the Bayern players.
14'
Kroos' delivery goes deeper this time, and Boateng gets half a header on it, but United eventually hack it clear as Rooney fires it away from six yards out.
13'
Robben sees a tame shot deflect wide and the visitors have a corner. Kroos swings it in towards the near post but Ferdinand charges out to send it behind for another set piece.
11'
MULLER!! Boateng slots a pass through the middle for Ribery, who exchanges passes with Robben before pulling it back across the six-yard box. Muller is in space but can't connect properly and the hosts scramble the ball clear.
10'
More good pressing from United as they win a throw right by the corner flag, but they can't make much of the position and Ferdinand is forced to play it backwards. The hosts still in possession, though.
9'
Nervy stuff from Bayern at the back as Neuer dwells on the ball a little too long and finds himself being chased down by Rooney, and the goalkeeper is forced to put it straight out for a throw.
8'
ROBBEN!! The first sign of what the winger can do as he is afforded space on the right-hand corner of the area. The Dutchman cuts on to his left before flashing a curling effort just wide of the far post.
7'
Another spectacular pass from Kroos finds Rafinha in an advanced position down the right flank. The visitors zip the ball around quickly but Vidic deals with Kroos' lofted pass into the area.
6'
Kroos swings the ball out to Rafinha on the far side as Bayern try to settle into their usual passing rhythm, but United are pressing well early on here.
5'
Jones does well to cut out Boateng's long ball forward before Ribery charges into the box with a dangerous driving run. Fellaini, Ferdinand and Vidic between them manage to stop the Frenchman, before Vidic is fouled inside the United area.
4'
It's a frantic start, here, and Bayern are going to have to be wary of United on the break as that attack showed.
3'
DISALLOWED!! United almost in a shock early lead as Rooney sets Valencia free down the right and the winger plays it into Welbeck, who fights to bring the ball under control before firing it into the top corner. The whistle goes, though, as the referee judges the striker's foot to be too high. Unlucky.
2'
Valencia charges into a challenge on Alaba, putting pressure on the defender early on and forcing it out for a throw. The wide man will have a lot of running to do down that flank tonight.
1'
Bayern get the ball rolling and we're underway at Old Trafford.
Good evening and welcome to LIVE coverage of the Champions League as Manchester United take on Bayern Munich in the first leg of the quarter-finals. It may be 1 April but there will be no fooling around at Old Trafford tonight.
The teams have been announced so let's get straight down to business and bring you tonight's line-ups, starting with the hosts...
Manchester United (4-4-2): De Gea; Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Buttner; Valencia, Carrick, Fellaini, Giggs; Rooney, Welbeck.
Manchester United subs: Lindegaard, Hernandez, Nani, Young, Fletcher, Kagawa, Januzaj.
Rio Ferdinand returns to the Manchester United defence this evening, as Phil Jones shifts to right-back to replace the injured Rafael. Meanwhile, David Moyes revamps the midfield from their 4-1 win over Aston Villa, drafting in Ryan Giggs, Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick, and ahead of them Danny Welbeck comes into the attack.
The Bundesliga champions rested several key players in the 3-3 draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday, so Pep Guardiola makes eight changes from that game. The main notable absentee from the German club's list of stars is Thiago Alcantara, who sits out with torn knee ligaments.
This is the first time Moyes pits himself against probably the best coach in football right now. The Scot's record in charge of United is some way behind Guardiola's at Bayern; he has lost 13 of his 47 games in charge in all competitions, while the Spaniard has helped his side cruise to another league title with a staggering run of 19 straight wins, which was just halted at the weekend.
The German side also have a great chance of becoming the first team to win back-to-back Champions League titles, but United will do everything in their power to stop that. However, with battles such s Robben v Buttner and Ribery v Jones, it looks mighty tricky...
Arjen Robben scored a memorable goal here nearly four years ago, and the tricky winger will be a key threat for the visitors this evening. The Netherlands international has won four penalties in the Champions League this term - more than any other player. It'll be interesting to see if he takes a tumble tonight.
Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, is the hosts' big creator this evening, you feel. Only Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria (both five) have more than the striker's four Champions League assists this season. Will he register another tonight?
The players are out of the tunnel and it's a rocking atmosphere in Manchester. Could this be Ryan Giggs' last Champions League appearance at Old Trafford? We're just a couple of minutes away from kick-off.
That's HALF TIME at Old Trafford and it's goalless despite absolute domination from Bayern Munich. Danny Welbeck had the best chance of the half, though, and will he come to regret it?
How about this for a cracking half-time stat from Opta: United had just 22% of the ball in the opening 45 minutes, but managed two shots on target to Bayern's one.
It's all level then after 45 minutes, but will that be the case after the full-time whistle? Be sure to come back and join us for the second half.
Just moments away from the restart, then. How do you see this one panning out? Will Bayern's dominance pay dividends or can United spring a surprise and take a lead to Germany?
That's FULL TIME at Old Trafford and it's finished 1-1 after an absorbing contest. The hosts were on the back foot for most of the game but took the lead through Vidic's superb header, before Schweinsteiger's superb finish levelled the tie.
No-one gave United a chance tonight, saying the visitors would take a comfortable lead back to Germany for the second leg. They've surprised us once - could they shock us again and make it into the last four? The second leg promises to be a compelling encounter.
In tonight's other last-eight tie it also finished 1-1 as Atletico Madrid take the upper hand with a draw at Barcelona. It's been a fascinating evening in the Champions League!
Well, that's all from our coverage of the Champions League action at Old Trafford this evening. Thanks for joining, and goodbye for now!
