This game is petering out very poorly, Sunderland aren't really pressing for an equaliser and Chelsea seem quite content just to see this out.
90' +1
N'Diaye gets the ball right in his face from Lampard. That looked like it hurt quite a lot.
90'
A long throw from Wickham gets Sunderland another corner. Bardsley takes it and his cross goes beyond everyone and goes out for a goal kick.
89'
F. Lampard enters the game and replaces Mata.
88'
A nice move from Sunderland as Colback gets in behind the Chelsea defence and Bertrand does well to force the ball away from him but he concedes a corner.
86'
Bemusing free kick from Sunderland as every player stands in an offside position, Johnson whips the ball into the box and Cech claims it with ease.
85'
Y. Benayoun enters the game and replaces E. Hazard.
Free kick for Sunderland in a promising position.
83'
There's a distinct lack of urgency from the Sunderland players, you wouldn't believe they're fighting relegation, they seem quite content to keep knocking the ball around in their own half.
82'
J. Colback enters the game and replaces C. Gardner.
Minute
Description
81'
Sunderland have definitely lost their zip, as N'Diaye sums up their second half by blasting a pass looking for Rose, five feet behind and for a Chelsea throw.
79'
This game has definitely lost it's fizz at the moment, Sunderland can't produce anything and neither can the hosts. That suits Chelsea a lot more than it does the Black Cats.
75'
Wickham is down on sidelines after colliding with Luiz, replays show there might have been some contact with the Brazilian's arm and the striker's face.
74'
Chelsea seem quite content to allow Sunderland to have the ball, they've looked quite explosive on the counterattack, so they could be picking their moment.
72'
A bit better from Sunderland as they have possession deep in the Chelsea half but McClean wastes the opening by holding onto the ball for too long and is dispossessed allowing the Blues to clear their lines.
71'
J. McClean enters the game and replaces S. Larsson.
70'
CHANCE!!! Sunderland win the ball in midfield and Johnson races forward and beats his man before firing a left-footed shot at goal which goes just wide of the post.
68'
Luiz is down for Chelsea and it doesn't look good for the defender as he looks to be coming off.
66'
CHANCE!!!! Oscar links up well with Mata who releases him into the penalty area, he lifts a cross to the back post for Torres who heads just over the bar.
64'
Sunderland really haven't got going and they look a shadow of the team they were in the first half, as they've resorted to launching the ball forward for Wickham.
62'
D. Rose gets yellow.
Rose joins Gardner in the book after bringing down Hazard.
60'
CHANCE!!!! Mata goes close with another deflected effort as he beats Rose and Larsson down the left, he shoots from a tight angle and the ball ricochets off Kilgallon and Mignolet palms it behind.
57'
Sunderland look shell shocked now after falling behind, Chelsea have got their tails up and are taking the game to Di Canio's side. Torres has been very influential since coming on.
55'
B. Ivanović has scored a goal for Chelsea! Assist by David Luiz.
GOALLL!!!! Chelsea take the lead and it's another deflected effort as Luiz's volley hits Ivanovic and nestles into the bottom corner of the net leaving Mignolet with no chance. So hard on Sunderland.
53'
Slow start to the half despite the equaliser as neither team have really hit their straps.
50'
Sunderland are still pushing men forward and they don't seem that deterred despite Chelsea getting a goal back so soon.
48'
That's a hammer blow for the Black Cats coming so soon after the break, it'll be interesting to see how they cope with this setback.
47'
M. Kilgallon is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
GOALL!!!! Chelsea are level and it's an own goal from Kilgallon in the most unfortunate of circumstances as Oscar's effort clatters off Mignolet and hits the defender and goes straight into the bottom corner.
46'
Fernando Torres enters the game and replaces D. Ba.
We're back underway at Stamford Bridge.
45' +3
Half-time at Stamford Bridge.
45' +2
Chelsea try to respond straight away and a dangerous ball into the area from Hazard worries Mignolet as he drops the ball but O'Shea is there to hack the ball clear.
45'
César Azpilicueta is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
GOALL!!!! Sunderland take the lead and it's fair to say it's been coming, as Johnson's corner is turned into his own net by Azpilicueta after O'Shea had done well to beat Ba in their air at the near post.
43'
CHANCE!!! Oscar does well to get to the byline and he whips the ball back into the penalty area where he finds Hazard but his header is comfortably saved by Mignolet.
42'
Sunderland advance again through Sessegnon, his knocks a pass back to Bardsley who whips the ball in first time and finds Wickham, but Ivanovic is there to knick the ball away and clear. Black Cats are just lacking that final bit of quality in the final third.
40'
Chelsea are looking a bit lethargic as the half comes to a close. This is their fourth game in eight days.
38'
Danny Rose is down for Sunderland, he seems to be ok now though and he's back on his feet.
37'
Yet another free kick for Chelsea out wide with Mata to take.
A dangerous ball into the area from Mata but again Sunderland clear their lines.
35'
Mata gets behind the Sunderland defence but Rose makes an excellent tackle to stop him in his tracks allowing his side to break. At the crucial moment Johnson yet again makes the wrong decision looking for the run of N'Diaye but the ball goes out for a goal kick.
33'
CHANCE!!! Hazard feeds Ba in the area with his back to goal, he tries an ambitious effort with an overhead kick but the ball goes wide of the post and just wide of Mata running into the six yard box.
32'
Sunderland have an opening again as they work the ball nicely down the left, Rose's cross is too long for N'Diaye but it falls to Johnson, who tries to feed Sessegnon, but his pass is cut out by Mikel.
30'
Dare I say, Sunderland should be ahead here.
28'
CHANCE!!! Sessegnon lays the ball into the feet of Wickham but it just doesn't fall for him. Ivanovic nearly plays his team back into trouble as he loses control, the ball falls to Johnson who squares for Gardner but his effort is blocked.
26'
That's Gardner's 10th booking of the season so he will miss Sunderland's next two games against Newcastle and Everton.
25'
C. Gardner gets yellow.
Yellow card for Gardner and he might be a tad lucky with that and he went in high on Ba in a meaty challenge. Ba's down and receiving treatment.
23'
Mata whips the ball into the box but O'Shea gets a big header on the ball and diverts it over the bar. From the resulting corner Sunderland clear their lines.
22'
Another free kick in a promising position for Chelsea. Can Mata produce the goods here?
21'
Paolo Di Canio won't be too displeased with what he has seen from his side so far, they've certainly held their own against the Blues.
19'
CHANCE!! Sunderland on the counterattack and Johnson should give them the lead as Sessegnon picks him out in the penalty area but his shot is blocked by Luiz.
18'
CHANCE!!!! Luiz blasts his free kick at the wall and it deflects right into the path of Ba, but Kilgallon is there to make a great tackle to deny the striker, not one but twice, and O'Shea scrambles the ball clear.
17'
Free kick in a promising position for the Blues after Garnder hauls down Ramires.
15'
Hazard does well to beat several challenges on the right and he lifts a delightful ball to the back post for Ba to run on to, but Sunderland hold their ground and the striker's header goes out for a goal kick.
13'
Ba wins the flick on against O'Shea from Cech's clearance downfield and Mata races onto the ball despite appeals of offside from the Black Cats. When the Spaniard bares down on goal, the linesman finally raises his flag, what a tease.
12'
N'Diaye loses the ball upfield allowing Chelea to break with Oscar and he feeds Ba inside the penalty area, he twists and turns but his shot is blocked by Kilgallon.
10'
Wickham gets the ball and drives forward, he takes the ball past Luiz and shoots but he drags his effort wide of the post. It was never threatening the goal. Di Canio on the sidelines is not happy.
8'
Oscar raids forward and evades not one but two challenges before striking the ball on the edge of the penalty area but his left-footed shot goes well over the bar.
6'
O'Shea makes a confident leave with Ba lurking behind him as Oscar whips the ball into the penalty area. The Irishman proves he's right as it races out for a goal kick.
5'
Azpilicueta makes a good run forward for Chelsea but just as he's about break into the box, Rose gets across him and makes a good tackle.
3'
CHANCE!! The ball falls to Sessegnon in the penalty area and he shoots first time, but he can only hit the side netting. Wickham was free in the middle of the box if the Benin international had squared the ball.
1'
We're underway at Stamford Bridge.
Couple of scrappy free kicks to get us started as Wickham and Ba concede early fouls.
Hello and welcome to Goal.com's LIVE! commentary of today's Premier League clash between Chelsea and Sunderland at Stamford Bridge. I'm Simon Sinlciar and I'll be taking you through all the action as it happens.
Paolo Di Canio takes charge of his first game as Sunderland manager after being appointed last week to replace Martin O'Neill who was sacked just hours after the Black Cats' 1-0 defeat to Manchester United.
Let's check out the teams put out by both managers this afternoon.
So, there's no John Terry, Frank Lampard or Fernando Torres in Chelsea's starting lineup this afternoon. So there's a chance for Demba Ba, Oscar and Branislav Ivanovic to impress Rafael Benitez.
Di Canio makes three changes to the Sunderland team that were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United last week for his first game. Titus Bramble is injured and is replaced by Matt Kilgallon, Sebastian Larsson comes in for James McClean and Connor Wickham starts in place of Danny Graham.
STAT ATTACK! Chelsea have the joint-second best goalscoring record in the Premier League this season alongside Liverpool and Arsenal with 59 goals each.
STAT ATTACK! Sunderland last won at Stamford Bridge in November 2010 in a 3-0 win. However, just one of their current starting XI played in that game, that player being right-back Phil Bardsley.
The teams are out at Stamford Bridge, we should be underway shortly.
Well well isn't that a turn up for the books? Sunderland lead at the break and it's hard to say they don't deserve it, as Cesar Azpilicueta turned the ball into his own net from Adam Johnson's corner. The Black Cats should arguably be further in front as they've spurned some good openings but Paolo Di Canio will be delighted with what he's seen so far from his new team. Chelsea look a bit tired and flat, they will need to be a lot better in the second half to get something out of this game.
The teams are back out at Stamford Bridge and we should be back underway any minute.
Chelsea get the win and Paolo Di Canio tastes defeat in his first game as Sunderland manager. It started so well for the Black Cats as they took the lead just before half time through an Azpilicueta own goal. But after the break it all went wrong as Kilgallon put through his own net after Oscar's shot deflected off him. The minutes later Luiz's shot smashed off Ivanovic and into the bottom corner. Chelsea move back into the top four with the win, while a win for Wigan later today could see Sunderland slip into the bottom three.
