J. Fuenzalida enters the game and replaces M. Isla.
Jose Pedro Fuenzalida replaces Isla, with penalies on the mind of Juan Antonio Pizzi.
119'
CHILE CAN HARDLY BELIEVE THEIR LUCK! That was the moment! Somehow Portugal escape! Silva gets onto the end of a cross at the far post and squares for Vidal, who sends a terrific strike off the inside of the post! The rebound comes to Rodriguez, but he sends it crashing off the bar! Horribly unlucky!
118'
STAT: Chile are winless in their last four matches against European opposition (D2 L2).
116'
Gelson Martins enters the game and replaces André Gomes.
Andre Gomes commits a horrendous challenge on Vidal, who is in a lot of pain. The midfielder quickly gives way as Portugal rush him off the pitch, with Gelson Martins taking his place.
114'
Cédric Soares gets yellow.
Cynical and lazy from Cedric - but professional at the same time - as he takes out Sanchez to halt what looked like a dangerous attack.
Minute
Description
113'
PORTUGAL LET OFF THE HOOK! Controversy aplenty here as Silva goes down in the area under a clear foul by Fonte, but the referee doesn't see it from the right angle as he awards a goal kick! Video review is available to the referee and his staff in this tournament, so why not use it?! It truly is baffling! Chile have been robbed of a penalty here.
112'
F. Silva enters the game and replaces P. Hernández.
Chile's second change sees Francisco Silva, who is a very good penalty taker, replace Hernandez.
111'
Bruno Alves gets yellow.
Hernandez feels the brunt of another hard foul, this time taking an elbow to the back of the head from Alves as they battled to win a header at the halfway line.
110'
A whole lot of nothing happening here. Both teams look like they're playing for penalties at this stage, simply passing it about rather tamely at the back before heaving a hopeful long ball forward that sees possession exchange hands. Rinse, repeat.
108'
A timid and altogether reserved start to the second half of extra-time here, as Portugal knock the ball about aimlessly near the halfway line. Both sides have shown periods of desire throughout the match, but a lack of consistency to really take the initiative has plagued the attacking output dearly.
106'
Here we go with the final 15 minutes!
105' +1
After an uneventful minute of stoppage-time, we have reached half-time in extra-time as the match remains scoreless!
104'
Mental and physical fitness become so much more important in extra-time - not a foreign concept to either of these sides. Portugal won three of their four knockout stage matches at the European Championships by virtue of extra-time and penalties, while Chile won the last two Copa America finals in penalties.
102'
João Moutinho enters the game and replaces Adrien Silva.
Portugal make their third change, but still have one left as a result of the rule that allows a fourth if the match goes into extra-time. This one sees Joao Moutinho replace Adrien Silva.
100'
Another headed chance for Chile! And it comes by virtue of another Isla cross, as well. This time he picks out the head of Vidal, who dives in bravely to meet it, but can't get the desired power behind his effort as it runs safely into the arms of Patricio.
98'
Quaresma produces another delightful cross, this time from a corner, to pick out the head of Fonte, but the centre-half can't direct an effort on target. Pressure stays on, but a delightful Vidal challenge on Ronaldo relieves it, if only for a moment, as the ball rolls behind for yet another corner. It's coming to life now.
96'
José Fonte gets yellow.
Jose Fonte becomes the fifth player booked on the night as he trips up Sanchez near the touchline. Sheer determination from the Arsenal forward there to force Fonte into a cynical foul.
95'
TERRIFIC MOVE! Delicious bit of attacking play from Chile as they work the ball out wide for Isla in space, who then picks out a delightful pull-back cross for Sanchez, but the Arsenal forward glances a header inches wide of the far post!
93'
Portugal start the extra-time period brightly, pushing forward in search of an opening. Quaresma bends in a delicious delivery from the right, which Bravo makes a meal of before finally collecting the danger. Encouraging stuff from the European champions.
91'
Here we go!
90' +3
That's it! We're headed to extra-time as Portugal and Chile battle it out for a place in the final!
90' +2
These teams are very much playing for extra-time now as they knock it about harmlessly in defence. Neither side has managed much possession across the halfway line, as the tempo dwindles to a near stand-still. It's all become rather tedious here in Kazan.
90'
The board goes up to indicate a minimum of three added minutes at the end of this match, with extra-time looming.
88'
It's worth noting, with extra-time looking like a probability instead of a possibility here, that each team will get a fourth substitution if this goes beyond the 90 minutes. Portugal have used two already, but would get two more to make for extra-time and possibly penalties, while Chile would have three at their disposal should they wish.
86'
M. Rodríguez enters the game and replaces E. Vargas.
Young Cruz Azul striker Martin Rodriguez replaces Vargas for the final minutes.
85'
Clever play from Portugal as they capitalise on the height advantage, finally, with Ronaldo getting the better of Medel to latch onto a diagonal cross from the right, but he glances an effort wide of the far post. Medel did just enough there to put him off, as Chile have done so consistently in this match, preventing Portugal from getting any free headers in the centre.
83'
Ricardo Quaresma enters the game and replaces Bernardo Silva.
Here comes Quaresma, on to replace Bernardo Silva for the final seven minutes - and perhaps beyond if this stays scoreless.
82'
Looks like Portugal are poised to make a second switch, with so much attacking talent available to them off the bench. Nani has hardly had a touch since coming on, but perhaps the quality of Quaresma can help provide the spark they so desperately need.
80'
Into the final 10 minutes and it's Portugal who are on the front foot, enjoying a prolonged spell of possession in the attacking half. It's all very pedestrian from them, however, as they fail to navigate their way into the final third, with plenty of white shirts behind the ball.
78'
Very little happening out on the pitch now as this deadlock looks increasingly less likely to be broken in the 90 minutes. Portugal are no strangers to extra-time in the knockout stage, needing it in the round-of-16, quarter-finals and finals of the European Championship.
76'
Nani enters the game and replaces André Silva.
The first change of the night comes with 15 minutes left in the 90, as Nani replaces Andre Silva. His pace off the bench should cause this tired Chile defence a few problems.
73'
STAT: Portugal have won just one of their last seven matches against South American opposition (D2 L4).
71'
Chile are caught short of bodies in defence as Portugal counter excellently with pace. They get from the back foot to the front in the blink of an eye, but the end result is a corner as Ronaldo's strike deflects behind. The subsequent corner is dealt with very well by Chile.
69'
The tempo really is waning as the consequences for conceding grow with each passing minute. You get the feeling that a goal at this stage would certainly be a dagger. Fatigue is also becoming an issue - surely we will see a change or two soon?
67'
Approaching the final 20 minutes now and there's still nothing to separate these two sides. Portugal have tightened things up at the back, but it's come at the expense of their attacking influence, which has continuously faded after such a bright start to this match.
65'
Nervous moments for Chile as Ronaldo lines up a free-kick from 30 yards. It's a bit far out, but the Real Madrid forward is always a threat from these set-pieces. That being said, Chile are let off the hook here as Ronaldo's effort never does dip in the end, sailing harmlessly over the bar.
63'
STAT: Chile have won just one of their last five matches across all competitions (D3 L1).
61'
Portugal need to tighten up a bit. They're not pressing as a cohesive unit, and Chile have been able to grow again in possession as a result, knocking it about tidily in midfield. There's been very little to separate the two sides, but if you had to give one side the advantage, it would certainly be given to Chile.
59'
FIRST CHANCE FOR RONALDO! That's the first time tonight we have seen him in the penalty area with a bit of space. He's sprung in by Andre Gomes but hesitates to get a shot off initially. He continues his run, tightening the angle, allowing Bravo to parry his well-struck effort seconds later.
57'
Isla and Beausejour are making great strides on the flanks, with Eliseu and Cedric often left to fend for themselves in defence as Andre Gomes and Bernardo Silva simply are not doing enough to track back. Chile's latest chance sees Vargas thump an acrobatic strike at goal, but Patricio does superbly to parry!
55'
STAT: Portugal and Chile have each won their last three matches that have progressed beyond the 90 minutes into extra-time or penalties.
53'
GOOD CHANCE! Better from Chile! They've been consistent in finding space in the wide areas, but the quality of their crosses have been lacking. That's far from the case with this latest delivery from Beausejour, who admirably picks out the head of Vidal, but the Bayern midfielder heads over from five yards!
51'
P. Hernández gets yellow.
Hernandez repays the favour to William from the first-half challenge, catching the Portugal midfielder late with his follow-through. That's a yellow card, taking the count to two apiece here in this match.
50'
This game needs a goal to avoid what could turn into a dull second half. The longer these knockout stage matches stay scoreless, the more cautious teams become, so as not to concede the goal that would see them out of the tournament. The 60-minute mark is usually when that starts to occur.
48'
Has to be better! In a near replica to how the first half started, Andre Gomes gets into another excellent shooting position in the centre and has a clear sight of goal, but can't test Bravo! The Barcelona midfielder is popping up in some great areas, but he hasn't got his shooting boots with him tonight.
46'
The second half is underway in Kazan!
45' +1
HALF-TIME: PORTUGAL 0-0 CHILE.
45'
There will be one minute added on at the end of this first half.
43'
André Silva gets yellow.
Andre Silva reacts horribly to a decision from the referee and lets him hear it. You absolutely cannot react that way, and he's punished for his frustrations with a yellow card.
41'
Chile are enjoying the better of play, but the end product has been lacking. Portugal's attacking influence has waned with the bulk of the match being played in Portugal's half of the pitch, but Chile have precious little to show for it. After such a high-flying start to the match it looks like we are poised to head scoreless into the interval.
39'
STAT: Portugal have won eight of their last 10 matches across all competitions, their only defeat coming in a friendly match against Sweden.
37'
Chile continue to be kept to the wider areas when attacking, and haven't had much success picking out the final ball they crave. Portugal also hold a significant height advantage in the centre. Chile could really do with changing their approach, though they have not had the space needed to play their way through on the ground.
35'
Fonte and Alves have done an excellent job in defence, working really hard to limit the threat of Vargas and Sanchez. The Arsenal forward has been forced to drop deeper to get in possession, while Vargas has been shadowed excellently by Fonte, hardly finding more than a few inches of space with which to operate in.
33'
Great intervention by Aranguiz, who shows admirable dedication in tracking the run of Andre Gomes all the way back into the Chile penalty area to head clear a teasing cross from Cedric, on the end of an enticing run from the full-back. Those wide areas are being exploited very well by Portugal, though they've been lacking a prominent presence in the centre.
31'
William Carvalho gets yellow.
William becomes the second player booked on the night - the first for Portugal - for another hard foul near the halfway line. He's put in a couple of those as it was really just a matter of time before that card was produced.
29'
STAT: Chile have drawn successive matches. They have not drawn three in a row since the 1998 World Cup.
27'
In addition to the bright attacking play, there is a wonderful intensity to the way in which this match is being contested. Both teams are known not to shy away from the physical side of things, with a plethora of players on the pitch who love to put in a tackle - and that has very much been the case thus far, with some hard and fair challenges flying in.
25'
The tempo has fizzled out a bit as a result of the lengthy stoppage, as Portugal take on a more patient approach in attack. Semi-finals can often produce dry, cautious matches, but that couldn't be further from the case today. These sides are playing like they have nothing to lose, and the hope is that it continues here. A goal would certainly help.
23'
G. Jara gets yellow.
Vital piece of defending from Isla, who goes in with Andre Gomes and Ronaldo lurking, to head clear a dangerous cross from Bernardo Silva. The pressure stays on, but Adrien Silva sends a take strike at goal. As play comes to a halt, the referee goes back and books Jara for a foul on Andre Silva in the build-up.
21'
STAT: This is just the third all-time meeting between the two nations. Portugal won the first 4-1 in 1972 and the most recent, a friendly in 2011, ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
19'
Hernandez reaches out to latch onto a pass and William goes in for it as well, catching the Chilean midfielder with a dangerous knock to the ankle. He certainly feels the wrath of that coming together, and the Chile players protest the referee for a card, but it was very much a 50-50 ball as the Portugal midfielder escapes without as much as a foul.
17'
Chile remain in the ascendency, working the ball around expertly in the attacking half. A nice switch of play, made possible by some clever movement off the ball, results in a corner. The subsequent set-piece eventually finds its way to Beausejour, but his strike from 25 yards sails wide of the far post.
15'
Back and forth these sides go in search of the opening goal. Each have adopted some excellent width in attack, which has really helped to stretch the defences and open up holes in the centre. These are four full-backs who absolutely love to attack, so we should continue to see a lot more of this throughout the match.
13'
Dedicated spectators are likely aware of the fact that this tournament, despite a few bright moments, has yet to really kick into high gear. The start of the semi-finals, with the cream of the crop all into the last-four, should signal a change in that regard, as some of the world's best do battle here for the right to be crowned Confederations Cup champions.
11'
There's a wonderful tempo to this match between a pair of sides who love to attack, and are showing every indication of doing so tonight with great frequency. If the opening 10 minutes are any indication, goals should not be in short supply tonight.
9'
STAT: Portugal have scored at least a goal in 10 successive matches. Chile have done so in seven.
7'
PORTUGAL RESPOND! Anything Sanchez can do, I can do too, says Ronaldo, as he sends a perfectly weighted ball across the penalty area to pick out the run of Andre Silva at the far post, but Bravo gets across to thwart him brilliantly!
6'
WHAT A CHANCE! Much better from Chile, as Sanchez carves the defence apart with a delightful throughball for Vargas, who runs onto the end of it but can't beat Patricio, who got off his line in a flash to deny him! Had he scored though, the video review very well would have seen the goal called back for offside.
5'
Portugal have started this match very brightly, looking significantly more threatening on the front foot despite spending less time in possession. Chile have struggled to navigate their way into attack yet, hardly crossing the halfway line.
3'
After a spell of Chilean possession, Portugal negotiate the first opening with their maiden attack of the evening. They push forward in numbers, with Andre Gomes spotted in space in the centre. The seas part as he has a lane to shoot, but sends a tame effort disappointingly into the waiting arms of Claudio Bravo.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Chile in all white as they get the match underway, attacking left to right, with Portugal in red.
Hello and welcome to live coverage from the Kazan Arena in, you guessed it, Kazan, as Group A winners Portugal take on Group B runners-up Chile for the right to become the first team to book their passage to the 2017 Confederations Cup final!
Portugal grew stronger as the group stage progressed, following up a 2-2 draw with Mexico in their opener with 1-0 and 4-0 victories over Russia and New Zealand in their subsequent matches, claiming top spot in the group on goal difference.
This is Portugal’s maiden participation in the Confederations Cup and they are legitimate contenders, if not slight favourites at this point, to claim silverware just a year removed from winning their first major trophy at the 2016 European Championships.
Chile have not quite lived up to expectations yet at the Confederations Cup, still awaiting their breakout match. A pair of late goals helped them to victory over Cameroon in their opener, their only of the group stage, which was followed up by a pair of 1-1 draws with Germany and Australia.
It was a similar case for Juan Antonio Pizzi’s side in last summer’s Copa America, as they stuttered a bit through the group stage before saving their best and brightest for the knockouts, highlighted by their 7-0 demolition of Mexico in the quarters.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
PORTUGAL (4-4-2): Patricio; Cedric, Fonte, Alves, Eliseu; Bernardo Silva, William, Adrien Silva, Andre Gomes; Ronaldo, Andre Silva.
SUBS: Neto, Martins, Danilo, Nani, Pizzi, Semedo, Jose Sa, Moutinho, Beto, Quaresma.
Fernando Santos makes a whopping five changes to his side from the 4-0 victory over New Zealand. Jose Fonte comes into defence in place of the suspended Pepe, while Cedric Soares gets the nod ahead of Nelson Semedo. Three changes are made in midfield, with only Bernando Silva keeping his place in the side, as William Carvalho, Adrien Silva and Andre Gomes start ahead of Danilo Pereira and the vastly experienced Joao Moutinho and Ricardo Quaresma. Cristiano Ronaldo and Andre Silva resume their partnership up top.
Juan Antonio Pizzi makes three changes to his side from the draw with Germany. Gary Medel slots in at centre-half, pushing Marcelo Diaz into midfield and Francisco Silva to the bench. Jean Beausejour starts at left-back ahead of Eugenio Mena, while Pablo Hernandez's inclusion in midfield thrusts Arturo Vidal into a more advanced role, expected to lead the line tonight, with Jose Pedro Fuenzalida the one to give way.
It could have easily been 1-1 after 10 minutes, but a pair of delightful saves by Rui Patricio and Claudio Bravo kept the game scoreless, and that's where we stand at the interval in Kazan. It certainly has not been for a lack of trying, however, as there promises to be plenty more chances to come after the break.
Another 30 minutes on the way, as well as the potential for penalties, as neither side took the initiative to break the deadlock in what was an otherwise cautious and uneventful second half in Kazan. Vidal and Vargas has the best opportunities for Chile, while Ronaldo came closest for Portugal, but it wasn't meant to be in the end as we head to extra-time.
Penalties beckon in Kazan as Portugal and Chile's search for the elusive opener has proved fruitless. A quick breather, stretch and drink of water for the players here as we are set to get underway again momentarily.
Penalties it is to decide the first place in the 2017 Confederations Cup final, and Portugal are just happy to get to this point. Chile had a clear penalty shout denied in the second period of extra-time, before Arturo Vidal and Martin Rodriguez were denied by the frame of the goal in the dying minutes.
1-0! Vidal opens the shootout with a perfect penalty. There's no saving that.
BRAVO, BRAVO! The Chile keeper guesses right and makes a strong save to deny Quaresma! Early advantage for Chile!
2-0! Chile have a foot into the final as Aranguiz converts his penalty coolly.
BRAVO AGAIN! He's stopped Moutinho's penalty! Portugal can find no way through him!
CHILE NEARLY THERE! Sanchez places it in nearly the same spot as Vidal, and Chile lead 3-0, on the verge of a place in the final!
ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL! A clinic from Bravo in how to save a penalty! He guesses right again, diving far out to his left to parry Nani's effort, and Chile are through to the Confederations Cup final!
FULL-TIME: PORTUGAL 0-0 CHILE (0-3 PENALTIES).
Chile will take on the winner of tomorrow's semi-final between Germany and Mexico on Sunday. That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
Claudio Bravo the hero for Chile as he saves all three penalties he faced to send Chile through to the Confederations Cup final, after his side were denied a stone-cold penalty in extra-time, with VAR controversially not used. It's justice served in the end as Chile were unlucky not to come out of extra-time ahead, with Arturo Vidal and Martin Rodriguez also denied by the woodwork.
